TWO BOOK HOLLOW EARTH SPECIAL!
DON'T MISS OUT ON OUR TWO-BOOK HOLLOW EARTH SPECIAL!
Act now to get in on our Hollow Earth special...two books for the price of one. Our latest book: Our Hollow Earth: An Inner World Paradise, or A Gateway to Hell? and Secret Exploits of Admiral Richard E. Byrd.
There is said to be a vast world beneath our feet, a civilization located at the innermost core of our planet. Some call it the Hollow Earth or the Inner Earth. It has been described as a virtual paradise by some and a horrifying, hellish nightmare by others.
Doorways into this mystery realm have been sought for centuries. Some say they have actually “slipped inside” our planet. A number have given extraordinary accounts of their voyage, while others have vanished, never to be seen by another living soul again.
Frankly, the text books – according to the experts consulted for this volume – are all wrong! For, if you think life exists only on the surface of the planet, you have been listening to the “party line” way too long. There are those who see the Earth as being multilayered, and that what goes on “above” definitely goes on “below” – and maybe more so to the extreme.
There are also official agencies that are aware that the objects we know as UFOs originate from inside this Inner World, and that a “privileged” group of Nazis escaped to the Hollow Earth through entrances at the South Pole. America’s aviation ace, Admiral Richard Byrd, ventured across this icy hidden stronghold but left without confronting the potential menace concealed there. There are even possible links to the assassination of John F. Kennedy associated with the Inner Earth. Yes, there were giants in the Earth in Biblical times – and they possibly still exist, not far from where we live, mere miles below our towns and homes.

LET US CELEBRATE KENNETH ARNOLD DAY - JUNE 24 1947-2019
Kenneth Arnold, for all intents and purposes, is regarded as the literal father of modern-day UFOlogy because on June 24, 1947 he sighted a formation of rapidly moving objects that appeared to be skipping over "water." as they moved in between the cloud covered peaks of Mount Rainier in Washington state. Arnold was flying rather low, looking for a military plane that was said to have gone down somewhere between Tacoma and Yakima, when his eye caught something glittering in the brilliant sunlight.
"I saw the flashes were coming from a series of objects that were traveling incredible fast. They were silvery and shiny and seemed to be shaped-like a pie plate. What startled me most at this point was that I could not find any tails on them."
Arnold passed away in 1964, but his sighting has caused him to be elevated to what might be considered to be "saintly" status in the eyes of most UFO believers around the world. In fact, the anniversary of Arnold's sighting is celebrated annually as "UFO Day," across the globe. Several times I have had the honor of having his granddaughter as a guest on our podcast.
Shanelle Schanz has an elaborate tattoo gracing her upper back, from should to shoulder blade. It is a fabulous rendering showing the date of her grandfather's sighting along with some very fine ink of the formation of objects he observed on that historic date.
On the program -- which you can listen to by going to the link below -- Shanelle drops a number of bombshells. Truth is, Arnold had a total of eight insights of UFOs over the years, plus a run in by the dreaded Men In Black and a possible attempt by a government agent to silence him 'for good. " We also discuss the legendary June 24 enigma, which involves the passing of over a dozen UFO researchers on this anniversary date, as well as Arnold's theories regarding the UFOs (he did not believe they were all space ships.) Grab a copy of "UFOs - Are They Your Passport to heaven And Other Unearthly Realms? on Amazon to find out about the strange connection between Arnold and the after life.
So head to an open space with a pair of binoculars and celebrate the date together and try to call down some friendly UFOs. and across tune in to our tribute show on YouTube channel (please subscribe if you already havent) where we archive our Exploring the Bizarre Show broadcast live over KCORradio.com every Thursday evening at 10 PM eastern.

Senators Receive Classified Briefing on UFO Sightings
By Veronica Stracqualursi and Zachary Cohen,
A group of US senators, including the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence committee, received a classified briefing Wednesday about a series of reported encounters by the US Navy with unidentified aircraft, according to a congressional aide.
"If pilots at Oceana or elsewhere are reporting flight hazards that interfere with training or put them at risk, then Senator Warner wants answers. It doesn't matter if it's weather balloons, little green men, or something else entirely — we can't ask our pilots to put their lives at risk unnecessarily," Rachel Cohen, the spokeswoman for Democratic Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, told CNN.
Joseph Gradisher, spokesman for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare, also confirmed the briefing took place in a statement to CNN on Thursday.
"Navy officials did indeed meet with interested congressional members and staffers on Wednesday to provide a classified brief on efforts to understand and identify these threats to the safety and security of our aviators," he said.
"Follow-up discussions with other interested staffers are scheduled for later today (Thursday, 20 June). Navy officials will continue to keep interested congressional members and staff informed. Given the classified nature of these discussions, we will not comment on the specific information provided in these Hill briefings," Gradisher added.
President Donald Trump recently confirmed that he was also briefed on reports of Navy pilots spotting unidentified flying objects.
"I did have one very brief meeting on it," Trump told ABC News in an interview that aired Sunday. "But people are saying they're seeing UFO's, do I believe it? Not particularly."
Several pilots told the New York Times in an article published in May about multiple encounters with UFOs with no visible engine or infrared exhaust plumes.
In April, the Navy introduced guidelines for its pilots to report unexplainable events so the military can keep track of what may, or may not, be happening. Politico first reported on this matter.
A Navy official told CNN at the time that the Navy does not believe aliens have been flying around US airspace.
But there have been "a number of reports of unauthorized and/or unidentified aircraft entering various military-controlled ranges and designated air space in recent years," the Navy said in a statement.
The Navy said these kinds of "incursions" pose both a security risk and safety hazard.
"For safety and security concerns, the Navy and the USAF takes these reports very seriously and investigates each and every report," the statement said.

More on the Giant Eel Controversy
By Nick Redfern
If you have read my Nessie book, you’ll know that I veer towards the supernatural when it come to what many of the lake-monsters of our world may be. If they’re not something of a paranormal nature, however, I think the most likely candidates are (A) giant salamanders and/or (B) huge eels. And, as you may have seen, the giant eel theory is very much in the news right now.
Recently, Conspiracy Journal ran an article: “The Hunt for the Giant Horse-Headed Eel Begins Soon in Ireland.” That’s right: the quest to try and solve the mystery of these massive, Irish beasts will hopefully soon be underway. This is not just an Irish phenomenon, though. It should be noted that a number of witnesses to the Loch Ness Monsters of Scotland said that what they encountered looked like giant eels. We’ll begin with a classic (and a controversial) case from January 1934.
On this occasion, the witness was a man named Arthur Grant, of Glen Urquhart, Scotland. That Grant was a student-veterinarian, added to the weight and credibility of his report. A keen motorcyclist, twenty-one-year-old Grant was on the roads, heading home at around 1:00 a.m. when he very nearly became the first person to ever have a head-on collision with a Nessie! Fortunately, however, neither monster not motorcyclist were injured. That the night sky was dominated by a powerful, eerie moon meant that Grant had a very good view of the beast, as it loomed before him, and caught in the glare of his motorbike’s headlight. It was at a distance of around 120 feet that Grant caught sight of something unusual in front of him. Exactly how unusual it was near-immediately became apparent.
Grant said of his sighting that he was practically on top of the monster when its tiny head – sat atop an elongated neck – suddenly turned in his direction. Evidently just as shocked as Grant was, the monster made two bounds across the road, headed down to the loch and vanished into its depths with an almighty splash. Grant brought his motorbike to what was literally a screeching halt and, demonstrating his spirited character, gave chase! It was quickly clear to Grant, however, that, as a result of the huge splash, the monster had made good its escape. Nevertheless, in the time between it was first seen and when it fled for the dark waters, Grant was able to get an excellent view of his quarry. He described the monster as having a bulky body, flippers rather than legs, and an approximately six-foot-long, thick tail that looked like it could inflict significant damage. As for its overall size, Grant suggested somewhere close to twenty-feet.
Skeptics claim that Grant fabricated the story; however, it should be noted that he was insistent that he saw a monster and even made a statement to that effect to the Edinburgh-based Veterinary Society. Given that Grant was a student-veterinarian, it seems unlikely that he would have taken the risk of recklessly lying to the Veterinary Society. A prank on the press is one thing. Risking one’s entire future career in front of the society would have been quite another entirely. Grant’s statement is an important one, as it adds some additional, intriguing data to his original report. As he said, given his profession he knew more than a bit about the world of natural history. As a result, he had pondered deeply on the nature of the monster. Interestingly, Grant said that the beast seemed to be a chimera – that’s to say a combination of several creatures. The head of the monster, explained Grant…was eel-like.
Moving on to the 21st century: On May 26, 2007 Gordon Holmes filmed, well, something, in Loch Ness. It was something that turned Holmes into an overnight media sensation – albeit a brief sensation. The day in question was dominated by heavy rain, but which cleared as the evening arrived, allowing Holmes to get clear footage of what looked like some kind of animal moving at a significant rate of knots in the waters of Loch Ness. The specific location from where all the action was captured was a parking area, on the A82 road, just a couple of miles from Drumnadrochit. Not only that, Holmes estimated, as he excitedly watched and filmed, that the creature was around fourteen meters in length – which, if true, effectively ruled out everything known to live in the inland waters of the British Isles. Holmes, a lab technician, caught the attention of not just the British media, but also the likes of NBC News and CNN. He, and his near-priceless film, were quickly big news. Holmes said, when the media descended upon him in absolute droves, that he could scarcely believe what he was seeing. His first thought was: giant eel. Holmes told the media of the eel theory: “They have serpent-like features and they may explain all the sightings in Loch Ness over the years.”
On September 17, 2009, Jon Downes, of the U.K.-based Center for Fortean Zoology, his wife, Corinna, and CFZ colleague Max Blake took a trip to Ireland’s Lough Leane. It was during the course of the expedition that the team encountered something incredible. As Corinna notes, something very strange appeared before them: “I saw a trail left by something as it made its way from the island to the shore to the east of it… I was to be pressed for an answer I would probably suggest a large eel.” Max Blake recorded his thoughts on the encounter, too: “If I had to make a guess, I would say that it was most likely to have been a giant eel.”
In June 2015, a huge fish was spotted by two astonished and terrified anglers on the River Nene, in the Fens, Cambridgeshire, England. One of the fishermen told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that on the day when all hell broke loose the two friends were boating in the direction of Whittlesey, when their boat juddered – suggesting they had collided with something. But with what? They peered over the side of the boat and encountered something extraordinary: a huge creature, easily six feet in length, and possibly even slightly bigger, was swimming by. While they weren’t sure of the specific type of fish, there is no denying it was a definitive monster and hardly the kind of thing one would normally expect to see in the River Nene – or in any other stretch of English water. The two men speculated that what they had seen was a sturgeon. Not an impossibility, since sturgeon can grow to impressive sizes. But, the catfish was also offered as a potential candidate. Then there was the theory of another witness, namely that the creature was not a catfish but a giant eel.
The witness was Michelle Cooper, who was prompted to come forward by the media publicity given to the June 2015 encounter. Her sighting, however, had occurred somewhere in the region of one year earlier. She said to the Cambridge News that some of her friends poked fun at her when she told them of her encounter with the mysterious leviathan. But, Michelle was sure that she saw something huge and daunting. Notably, while speaking with the media she noted that “when I researched what it could be I found it looked exactly like the giant eels you get in America. I was really shaken up by it.”
Let’s hope that we’ll soon have the answer to an important question: are many of our lake-monsters really gigantic eels?

The Black Bird of Chernobyl
By LJ Charleston
The terrifying creature rose above the horizon of Chernobyl and Pripyat, a hideous humanoid with giant wings, a black headless body and red glowing eyes sending a message of doom to all who gazed upon it.
In the days leading up to the Chernobyl disaster, several of the workers in the control room of the nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine claimed to have seen the creature that is known as the Blackbird of Chernobyl.
Those unlucky enough to see the creature were said to be plagued with terrifying dreams and threatening phone calls.
Still others believe the Black Bird of Chernobyl was a form of the creature known as Moth Man whose presence only ever meant one thing: that a catastrophic event would soon follow.
Last month marked 33 years since the Chernobyl tragedy and it seems the further time moves away from the event, the stories, folklore and legends continue to captivate and grow.
And, since the huge success of the TV series, Chernobyl, there’s a seemingly endless desire for more knowledge about the disaster — the known as well as the unknown.
The Black Bird rises in Chernobyl
Sydney archaeologist Robert Maxwell is the only archaeologist who has ever worked at Chernobyl, completing two field excursions at the exclusion zone in 2010 and 2012.
He is passionate about the place in both a historical and archaeological sense; there is little Maxwell doesn’t know about Chernobyl, on matters of both the physical and supernatural world.
Maxwell told news.com.au that the legend of the Blackbird of Chernobyl was something he heard about when he was in the exclusion zone.
“The legend states that in the days leading up to April 26, 1986, that a supernatural creature was sighted in the sky over Chernobyl by many of the men in the control room. They also claimed to have seen this terrifying creature just before the explosion,” Maxwell said.
“Now it’s become one of those fables that’s difficult to track because it relies on the accounts of people who died due to radioactive contamination.
“The Blackbird has also become one of those fairly safe legends where, if you try to look for proof, it might not be available because the workers are dead, or maybe the sightings were never officially recorded.
“So, for people trying to check the voracity of these claims, of course, you’ve got to take them on face value because there’s not a lot of history or archaeology to go on.
“But the stories persist, even to this day.”
Maxwell describes the legends around Chernobyl as “the fireside stories of the 21st century.”
These days, the Blackbird of Chernobyl is something of an internet legend, similar to “Slenderman”, and creepy pasta legend “The Smiling Man”.
“These legends fill a place for us as humans that the ghost stories and stories by the fireside fulfilled back in the earlier centuries. But there are a couple of versions of the Blackbird story, and the earliest known account seems to have come from 2005,” Maxwell said.
“According to the legend, rumours went through the ranks of Chernobyl, that five employees had seen a large, dark headless creature with gigantic wings and fire red eyes. Chernobyl employees began sharing strangely similar experiences, some had horrifying nightmares, while others received threatening phone calls,” Maxwell said.
“The second account I’ve heard of this story comes from 2007 which says that people in and around the power plant began to experience a series of strange events revolving around sightings of a mysterious creature — also described as a large dark and mutated creature with large wings and piercing red eyes.
“People affected by the phenomena also experienced nightmares and had first-hand encounters with the winged beast.
“Some of the workers reported their bizarre experiences to supervisors of the facility but there was very little these officials could do even if they’d been willing to take action. Then, in April, disaster struck.”
Reactor number four of the nuclear power plant exploded on April 26 and, two days later, the entire city of Pripyat was evacuated.
It was several years later that the stories of the Blackbird began to spread.
“Because the workers apparently described the Blackbird as a headless, large-winged black creature with no head, but with fire red eyes — which most people take to mean the eyes appear in the torso, it sounded very similar to the Mothman sightings in the west.
“Many people believe the Mothman, like the Blackbird of Chernobyl, are the harbingers of doom, in the same way the banshee was a herald of doom and death to many Celtic societies.”
Mothman sightings are an enduring mystery that began in November 1967 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. More than 100 locals reported seeing what they described as a six-foot (182cm) tall beast, covered in hair or feathers with a wingspan of six to ten feet (182-305cm) and bright, glowing red eyes.
Then, in December, a chain suspension bridge across the Ohio River, from Point Pleasant to Gallipolis, crashed into the river at peak hour, killing 46 people.
Some reported that they saw the Mothman on the bridge just before the collapse.
Due to the bridge collapse happening around the same time as the Mothman sightings, inevitably the two became intertwined.
Whether you want to believe the legend or not, one irrefutable fact is that the story of one can’t be told without the other: the bridge collapse and Mothman are forever linked. There’s even a Mothman statue in Point Pleasant which is now a popular tourist attraction.
The Mothman was also reportedly spotted in Germany, on September 10, 1978, when a mine collapsed in Freiburg, killed several miners. But more than 20 miners who were supposed to work that day were apparently scared away by the sight of a Mothman-like creature perched at the entrance of the mine.
This creature was known as “Freiburg Shrieker”. And now the Mothman is seen as a “grim reaper” appearing just before death.
Of course, sceptics dismiss the Mothman as an elaborate hoax or an example of mass illusion. Some believe the stories have actually been created by Pripyat authorities in a bid to prevent people from entering the radioactive area as looters are still a security problem.
According to Maxwell, while some see the Mothman as a herald of doom, others see the creature in a different light, that it seems to be a time traveller of some kind that keeps returning to sudden, unexpected disasters.
“And for others, the Mothman is a completely supernatural entity that’s drawn in, like a moth is drawn to a flame; the Mothman or the Blackbird is simply drawn to the energy of disasters, or so the story goes,” Maxwell said.
“It’s a fascinating little spooky sidenote to the story of Chernobyl because not many people are aware of the stories of this creature. But it certainly adds to the creep factor.
“As if the Chernobyl disaster wasn’t terrifying enough, then you’ve got these alleged encounters with a black winged red eyed creature at night.”
And as for Maxwell, the question remains: during his two field excursions to the Chernobyl exclusion zone, did he see anything supernatural?
“No, absolutely not. It was entirely very much real terror when you’re there. What’s truly frightening is that you’ve got the all-encompassing overwhelming threat of radioactive contamination if you do the wrong thing or go in the wrong place or lean against the wrong object.
“There are certain things in the zone today for which any contact for any prolonged period of time will definitely kill you.
“There is one thing in particular that I still think about quite a lot: The Claw.”

- STRANGE TALES OF THE SUBTERRANEAN WORLD DEPARTMENT -
Mysterious Tunnels and Underground Civilizations
There is something fundamentally and primally mysterious about caves and tunnels. Maybe it's their darkness or the fact that they open into the very body of the Earth. They are invariably the subjects of adolescent adventure stories, such as the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew mysteries, and R.L. Stine's books. And they serve as backgrounds in exciting stories directed at older audiences as well, such as Jules Verne's A Journey to the Center of the Earth and the Indiana Jones films. Tunnels represent the unknown and touch the fears that reside deep in the primitive human subconscious.
I've come across several sites on the Web that tell what some believe are true stories of vast underground networks of tunnels. And they are no less mysterious and fantastic than those used as settings in the fictional tales mentioned above. It's not that the tunnels merely exist and are unknown to most people, it's what they contain, who built them, and why – and that takes us into the deepest recesses of the unknown.
People who claim to have first- or second-hand knowledge or experience with these tunnels make many astonishing claims: that they contain long-lost cities; that they are inhabited by advanced civilizations – perhaps the descendents of Atlantis; that they are bases for extraterrestrials and their flying saucers; that they are bases for secret government installations. The government no doubt has top-secret military installations deep within mountains and perhaps underground, but this, of course, is the least fantastic of the stories.
Here are highlights of some of the more extraordinary claims. Since these stories come without photos or any other kind of verification, consider them skeptically. In any case, they are fascinating.
Grand Canyon Mystery
The April 5, 1909 edition of The Phoenix Gazette carried a story entitled "Explorations in Grand Canyon." According to the article, a man named G.E. Kinkaid made an astonishing discovery while on an expedition, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute, in the Grand Canyon. Among his findings:
* A mammoth chamber about 1,480 feet underground from which radiates dozens of passageways "like the spokes of a wheel."
* Several hundred rooms, some of which contain artifacts such as weapons and copper instruments of a kind that have never been known to be native to the Americas.
* A crypt containing mummies - all adult males - wrapped in a bark fabric.
* A shrine containing a Buddha-like idol sitting cross-legged with a lotus flower in each hand.
* Stone tablets on which are carved mysterious Egyptian-like hieroglyphics.
The article also mentions a legend of the Hopi Indians that says their ancestors once lived in an underworld in the Grand Canyon.
Crumf Burial Cave
In 1892, Frank Burns of the U.S. Geological Survey reported that he found strange coffins in the Crunf Cave along the southern branch of the Warrior River in Murphy's Valley, Alabama. The wooden coffins appeared to be hollowed out by fire, then chiseled with stone or copper tools. Each coffin was 7.5 feet long, 14 to 18 inches wide, and 6 to 7 inches deep. The lids were open on each empty coffin. The specimens were sent to the Smithsonian, which suggested the coffins might actually be troughs. In any case, the museum lost the artifacts.
Tunnel Network Under California
According to an article entitled in the Fall 1985 edition of Search magazine, a high-ranking but unnamed Naval officer told of the discovery of a huge network of tunnels under portions of the west coast of the U.S. He said that U.S. nuclear submarines had explored some of these tunnels, which are accessible just off the continental shelf, and had followed them inland for several hundred miles. Here are more highlights of this incredible claim:
* What is being passed off as the San Andreas Fault are actually large, unsupported chambers that are in the process of collapsing.
* A well-known U.S. Nuclear submarine lost its way in one of the passages and was never heard from again. (Two U.S. nuclear submarines have disappeared under mysterious circumstances - the U.S.S. Thresher and the U.S.S. Scorpion.)
* Some of California is actually floating on the ocean. When oil companies began pumping oil from beneath the city of Long Beach, it began to sink - up to 26 feet before the pumping was stopped.
More and More Tunnels
The above story was written up in a long article called "The Underground Empire," which reveals many more details. It also offers these other fascinating accounts:
* A couple from Bishop, Calif. discovered a circular hole in the ground while exploring for petroglyphs. They climbed down the hole which bottomed out to a horizontal corridor. On one of the walls was carved a face out of the mouth of which poured water. Suddenly the water started to gush out of the face and from other openings, and the couple was forced to abandon the tunnel. Later, both recalled that they heard music down there.
* In West Virginia, workers found some caverns with strange hieroglyphics written on the walls. They also claimed to gear faint voices and what sounded like machinery coming from beyond the walls of the cavern.
* Two men searching for bat guano (which has some value as fertilizer) at the foot of Mount Lassen found a deep cave. They followed it inside for a mile or two and noticed that the floor was worn smooth, as if it had been used for a road. Eventually they met three strange "men" who asked if they are "surface people," and then took them deeper in the cave on an electromagnetically powered hovercraft. The story gets stranger from there.
* Travelers Ferdinand Ossendowski and Nicholas Roerich claim to have discovered a subterranean society below central Asia, which they referred to as Agharta or Agharti. They say it is home to 20 million people, and their civilization extends throughout all the subterranean passages of the world.
* A 12-man speleological team broke into an ancient tunnel system in northern Arkansas and encountered the inhabitants of the subsurface world.
* Exploring another cave in Arkansas, just north of Batesville, explorers found a tunnel illuminated by a greenish phosphorescence where they met a race of beings who stood 7 to 8 feet tall and had bluish skin. The beings, who have advanced technology, told the explorers they are the direct descendents of Noah.
Brazil is said to have many entrances to an underground world. Several people claim to have proof:
* Two explorers returning from tunnels near Ponte Grosse in Brazil say they spent five days in an underworld city inhabited by 50 adults and some children.
* The same two explorers found another tunnel entrance in Rincon and saw luminous flying saucers going in and out, and heard beautiful choral singing.
* An old man living near Concepiao told how he had visited a vast underground city where strange vehicles darted back and forth.
* An explorer looking through a tunnel near Rio Casdor met a beautiful woman who appeared to be about 20 years old, but told the explorer she was 2,500 years old.
Pretty far-out stuff, huh? There is, of course, no proof to verify any of these stories, and the explorers always seem to lose or forget where the exact entrance to these caves and tunnels are. Some of the stories may have a basis in fact, but most are certainly tall tales, exaggerations, or outright fabrications. But they fortify our fascination with strange caves and tunnels. They make me, at least, want to go exploring in them. And who knows what would be found!

White Orb Over Dayton, Ohio May Be DARPA Project
A bright, white dot spotted over the Dayton area and numerous suburbs of the city could be part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, also known as DARPA.
“On June 18, DARPA launched three balloons from Cumberland, Maryland, in a flight test for the Adaptable Lighter Than Air Program,” said Heather Babb, spokeswoman for the Department of Defense. “ALTA will demonstrate capability for wind-borne navigation of a lighter-than-air vehicle over extended ranges.”
Babb stopped short of confirming that the bright, white dot spotted by numerous News Center 7 viewers was indeed a DARPA balloon, however another spokesperson for DARPA said given the location it was likely one of their balloons.
Sightings of the object were reported Tuesday to News Center 7 from viewers in Xenia, Englewood, West Milton, West Carrollton and Eaton.
DARPA’s ALTA program’s balloons can fly at altitudes of more than 75,000 feet.
“While they do not have independent propulsion, the ALTA vehicle is designed to navigate by changing altitude and thus taking advantage of different wind profiles aloft,” according to DARPA’s website.
Earlier, similar looking UFOs were reported over Kansas City, Missouri. The National Weather Service in Kansas City made residents a little nervousafter it tweeted, “We honestly have no explanation for the floating objects over Kansas City.” A follow-up tweet included a photo with two distant white orbs in the sky.
DARPA dates back to the launch of Sputnik in 1957 and also has played roles in precision weapons and stealth technology, and other technology advances such as the Internet, automated voice recognition, language transition and GPS.
DARPA is comprised of about 220 government employees in six technical offices, who oversee about 250 research and development programs.

Scientists Creating Secret DNA-Edited Babies
Scientist He Jiankui was condemned around the world last year where he brazenly announced in a YouTube video he had produced the first gene-edited humans in history – dubbed “Frankenstein babies" by some critics.
Dr Pete Mills, the Assistant Director of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, attended the scientific conference in Hong Kong where the world first learnt about the experiment.
Speaking to Daily Star Online, he said the scientific community was aware at the time of the creation of other mutant baby pregnancies in China – and the women would have come to the end of their pregnancies around now.
However, information on the cases ceased to be released following an international outcry – and China’s repressive state and censorious laws could be to blame.
“I don’t know what the fate of this [the pregnancies] is, but at the time, there was another continuing pregnancy. There may yet be be one or more gene-edited children,” Dr Mills explained.
Jiankui was criticised harshly because of the ethical questions about experimenting on humans, and last month it was reported China was planning tougher laws and regulations.
“We may or may not hear about those [secret babies],” Dr Mills continued, explaining that the Chinese scientists behind the experiment have still not published their full data following the outcry.
He said there was no evidence Chinese people have a different attitude to experiment on humans, but insisted the experiment by Jiankui and his team was “absolutely not acceptable.”
Dr Mills described the experiments on humans as impossible to justify “where we really do not know what the consequence will be and if there will be terrible consequences”.
Human genetics are extremely complex, and small changes to one gene, understood to influence one body part, can unexpectedly effect other organs or bodily systems.
Just weeks ago, it was reported that the two gene-edited babies might have shorter life expectancies, as people with altered genes appear to be more susceptible to infection.
Shortly after the babies were announced – which shocked many top scientists as Jiankui was not a known leader in the field – reports circulated that Jiankui was on house arrest and little has been heard from him since.
Furthermore, as Jiankui has previously argued, the privacy of the small girls and their family is an important factor.
The babies, known only as Lulu and Nana, were just single cells when a technology known as CRISPR editing was used to remove a gene known to offer the HIV virus a way to infect people.
As Daily Star Online also reports today, CRISP has made gene-editing experiments far cheaper and easier than ever before.
This raises the prospect that non-state backed entities could create mutant babies who are already out there, Dr Mills says, while stressing this is unlikely right now.
Just a couple of weeks ago, it was reported that a Russian molecular biologist is seeking approval to genetically modify more human embryos.
Molecular biologist Denis Rebrikov told Nature he is considering implanting gene-edited embryos into women, possibly before the end of the year if he can get approval.
“We as a species need to come to terms with this,” Dr William Hurlbut, a senior research scholar in neurobiology at Stanford Medical School, commented at CNBC’s Healthy Returns conference last month.
“For the first time in the history of life, we can affect the future of our evolution.”
