NASA Sued For Failing to Examine Mysterious Rock on Mars

A strange oddly-shaped white rock mysteriously appeared in images taken less than two weeks apart by NASA's Mars rover Opportunity, which is looking for signs of past water, the space agency reported on January 17.

When NASA's Opportunity rover took an image of the site on January 8 the white rock was clearly visible yet two weeks earlier it sent back images of barren rock.

Yet NASA said the appearance of the rock was straightforward - perhaps nearby impact sent the rock toward the rover, or, most likely, Opportunity knocked the rock from the ground and no one noticed until later.

NASA's claims don't wash with self-described scientist and author Rhawn Joseph.

He has filed a lawsuit in the US District Court Northern District of California claiming the white rock was a living thing and is seeking an order forcing NASA and its Administrator, Charles Boulden, to investigate the rock more diligently.

Joseph, who is aligned with the online Journal of Cosmology, seeks NASA to "perform a public, scientific, and statutory duty which is to closely photograph and thoroughly scientifically examine and investigate a putative biological organism."

Joseph does not believe it to be a rock.

"When examined by Petitioner the same structure in miniature was clearly visible upon magnification and appears to have just germinated from spores."

The "rock," according to the lawsuit, was there the whole time, it just grew until it became visible.

"The refusal to take close up photos from various angles, the refusal to take microscopic images of the specimen, the refusal to release high resolution photos, is inexplicable, recklessly negligent, and bizarre," the lawsuit alleged.

Whatever the rock is, it is certainly unusual. According to Steve Squyres, a scientist who leads the Mars exploration rover mission, says the rock is "like nothing we've ever seen before," Squyres said. "It's very high in sulphur, it's very high in magnesium, it's got twice as much manganese as we've ever seen in anything on Mars."

Life May Have Flourished In Young Universe

Humans may have been a late arrival to a universe full of alien life, a new theory has claimed.

Harvard astrophysicist Abraham Loeb believes that exoplanets warmed by radiation from the big bang may have been teeming with life just 15 million years after it occurred.

The earliest evidence of life on Earth so far found dates from 3.8 billion years ago, around 700 million years after our planet formed.

'When the universe was 15 million years old, the cosmic microwave background had a temperature of a warm summer day on Earth,' he told Space.com.

'If rocky planets existed at that epoch, then the CMB could have kept their surface warm even if they did not reside in the habitable zone around their parent star.'

Cosmic background radiation (CMB) fills the universe in every direction.

It is the afterglow of the big bang streaming through space these last 14 billion years.

Experts have focussed their search for life in habitable zones around stars in areas known as the 'goldilocks zone'.

These regions are considered to be just the right distance away from stars for liquid water, a pre-requisite for life as we know it, to exist.

The first planets would have been bathed in the warm CMB radiation, Loeb argues it would have been possible for them to have liquid water on their surface for several million years.

He says that one way to test his theory is by searching in our Milky Way galaxy for planets around stars with almost no heavy elements, which would mirror these early planets.

'The feasibility of life in the early universe can be tested by searching for planets with atmospheric bio-signatures around low-metallicity stars in the Milky Way galaxy or its dwarf galaxy satellites,' he wrote.

'Such stars represent the closest analogs to the first generation of stars at early cosmic times.'

Monsters in the Morgue
By Nick Redfern

There can be very few people (if any!) with an interest in UFOs who have not heard of the tales of so-called “alien bodies in the morgue.” Area 51, “Hangar 18,” Homestead Air Force Base, the Dugway Proving Ground, and many more highly secret, fortified installations have all been suggested as the final resting places for the preserved corpses of extraterrestrial entities. But, what of so-called cryptids, such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, the Chupacabras and other mysterious, or unacknowledged, creatures?

Although they are far less known than those involving their alleged alien counterparts, there are a number of cases on file that suggest it’s not just the bodies of beings from beyond our solar system that are held deep below ground, in well-guarded, bunker-style facilities. Welcome to the controversial saga of the morgue of monsters.

In my 2013 book, Monster Files, I told the story of the claims that following the devastating eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Washington State on May 18, 1980, a number of Bigfoot bodies were found in the area and secretly flown out to destinations unknown. Certainly, there were major casualty figures: fifty-seven people lost their lives, as did thousands of animals. Maybe some of those animals were of the definitively monstrous kind.

Granted, the stories of clandestine retrievals of Bigfoot bodies from Mt. St. Helens by the military have come from (a) anonymous sources; and (b) “friend-of-a-friend” informants. Just maybe, however, where there is a lot of smoke there is also a bit of fire, too. If the stories are true, then clearly the corpses of the immense animals would have to have been transported to fairly close-by military bases for study and autopsy. While that is certainly the suggestion, we’re still scratching our heads regarding where, exactly, such a place might have been.

My views, today, on the Mt. St. Helens controversy? I certainly don’t write it off, but, if it is true, then I would dearly like to know where those bodies are kept!

Moving on, I have traveled to the island of Puerto Rico on many occasions – the first time being in 2004 and the most recent occasion in the summer of 2013. Each trip – as you might guess – was to seek out the island’s most famous blood-sucker, the Chupacabras. On every occasion I have been to Puerto Rico, I have heard stories of Chupacabras shot and killed by military personnel and secretly shipped to bases in both Puerto Rico and Florida for autopsy.

In some cases, the stories vary and suggest the creatures were found already dead – in one case, in 1995, on the property of a rancher in Moca, Puerto Rico, three days after several of his pigs had been viciously attacked by…well… something. Another story brought to my attention concerned three dead Chupacabras that were reportedly found in the wrecked remains of a crashed UFO, somewhere high in the El Yunque rainforest in 1984. In the latter case, the bodies were said to have been studied and dissected at a now-closed down base on Puerto Rico called Roosevelt Roads.

Of course, both of these Chupacabras accounts are highly controversial and lacking in any and all hard evidence. But, that does not mean we should dismiss such cases out of hand. If there is a nugget of truth to them, then perhaps the alleged bodies have pride of place in some cryptozoological equivalent of Area 51.

Moving on, all across the British Isles – and for decades – there have been sightings of so-called “ABCs,” or “Alien Big Cats.” Precisely where they come from, what they are, and how they have (for the most part) skillfully avoided capture for so long, are questions that continue to occupy the time of seekers of the big cat truth. And, as with aliens, Bigfoot, and the Chupacabras, there are stories of British authorities confiscating the bodies of large ABC’s (usually found by the side of country roads), supposedly to prevent “public panic.”

I have investigated several such cases, all of which pointed the finger in the direction of DEFRA, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. In each case I have on-file (a couple of which have Men in Black-style overtones to them), the discoveries of the ABCs were reported to various arms of officialdom, who then acted swiftly to remove the evidence, on the orders of DEFRA. Merrily Harpur’s book, Mystery Big Cats, discusses this aspect of the ABC controversy, too.

And, I’ll be the first to admit that just as with the Bigfoot and Chupacbras stories, the British ABC cases lack hard, 100 percent evidence to support the theory that the corpses of these unknown (or out of place) animals are being secretly confiscated, studied and autopsied. But that doesn’t mean they’re not! It simply means that just like with the stories of alien bodies on ice (some of which have a fair degree of credibility attached to them), we need to keep digging for the answers.

Just maybe, one day, we’ll find that almost mythical morgue of monsters and we’ll gain access to those hairy, scaly, winged and furry bodies preserved deep within…

- SECRET SCIENCE IN THE NEWS DEPARTMENT -

Boeing Admits Anti-Gravity Work
By Joseph P. Farrell

As regular readers to my blog can probably tell, over the past week or so I’ve been writing about strange technologies and strange science, and the psychological and metaphysical questions they pose. Well, we’re not quite out of the woods yet, for anti-gravity is in the news again, and it appears that it is Nick Cook who has reported on this story.

Why is that significant? Well, for those who already know, forgive me while I pause to bring those who don’t know up to speed. Mr. Cook is a British aerospace researcher and writer, and a regular contributor to the prestigious journal on all matters of defense, defense and military technology, Jane’s Defence Weekly. Jane’s has been around since technology began to play an important, and indeed, the crucial role, in military affairs with the advent of the all-big gun dreadnought battleship at the beginning of the last century, and has become “must reading” for anyone interested in the latest (publicly-known) technologies and their impact in tactical and strategic policy formation. Indeed, at one point every captain of a major warship in the world’s major navies had a copy of the latest editions of Jane’s “All the World’s Warships” for recognition purposes, and to give him a quick reference of an opposing ship’s armament, defense capabilities, and so on. Jane’s was the “bible” of naval architecture, and as military technology has changed, Jane’s has morphed with it.  Such insight also means that Jane’s has kept carefully cultivated relationships and contacts within all the world’s major defense corporations and industries, from Armstrong, Vickers, Blohm und Voss, Krupp and Mistubishi, to Boeing, British Aerospace, Rolls Royce, Dassault and so on down to today.

So when Mr. Cook writes a book such as his now well-known and bestselling book The Hunt for Zero-Point, a book that first exposed the Nazi Bell project in detail to English speaking audiences, or when he writes articles about Boeing and antigravity, people should sit up and take notice.

Now there are a number of things in this article I want to draw your attention to:

“As part of the effort, which is being run out of Boeing’s Phantom Works advanced research and development facility in Seattle, the company is trying to solicit the services of a Russian scientist who claims he has developed anti-gravity devices in Russia and Finland. The approach, however, has been thwarted by Russian officialdom.

“The Boeing drive to develop a collaborative relationship with the scientist in question, Dr Evgeny Podkletnov, has its own internal project name: ‘GRASP’ — Gravity Research for Advanced Space Propulsion.”

Now Dr. Evgeny Podkletnov’s work has been known for quite some time, as have its anti-gravity implications. Indeed, Cook himself first wrote of this back in his turn-of-the-millennium bestselling book. Nor should it surprise us that Russia has thwarted efforts to allow Podkletnov to go to the West even if he were inclined to do so, for his work has obvious national security implications. Dr. Podkletnov has become a “resource.” And that means of course that the Russians are working on it too. We’ll get back to that in a moment.

Then there’s this:

“But it is also apparent that Podkletnov’s work could be engineered into a radical new weapon. The GRASP paper focuses on Podkletnov’s claims that his high-power experiments, using a device called an ‘impulse gravity generator’, are capable of producing a beam of ‘gravity-like’ energy that can exert an instantaneous force of 1,000g on any object — enough, in principle, to vaporise it, especially if the object is moving at high speed.

“Podkletnov maintains that a laboratory installation in Russia has already demonstrated the 4in (10cm) wide beam’s ability to repel objects a kilometre away and that it exhibits negligible power loss at distances of up to 200km. Such a device, observers say, could be adapted for use as an anti-satellite weapon or a ballistic missile shield. Podkletnov declared that any object placed above his rapidly spinning superconducting apparatus lost up to 2% of its weight.

“Although he was vilified by traditionalists who claimed that gravity-shielding was impossible under the known laws of physics, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) attempted to replicate his work in the mid-1990s. Because NASA lacked Podkletnov’s unique formula for the work, the attempt failed. NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama will shortly conduct a second set of experiments using apparatus built to Podkletnov’s specifications.”

Now using high power gravity waves would be a handy thing to have around for a weapon, particularly if one wanted, say, to vaporize a threatening asteroid (think Mr. Dmitri Medvedev here folks). Now note that, according to Cook, Boeing has a paper that claims that Podkletnov (and therefore, the Russians) has a device called an “impulse gravity generator.” capable of inducing 1000gs on any object and, in effect, crushing it to vapor. And that too is a handy thing to have around if one wants to build – as does Mr. Medvedev – a Russian asteroid space defense system. It’s also a handy device to have around if one wants to blow up huge spaceships or the occasionally troublesome planet, a la George Lucas’ Star Wars scenario, but that’s a much older story that we don’t have time to go into here.

Note however that Podkletnov is also maintaining that a Russian laboratory has some version of a device – perhaps his own – that exudes a beam that can repel an object at a kilometer’s distance. This too, believe it or not, is nothing new. The idea has been around since the 1950s, and was, in fact, the object of a now declassified US program to use concentrated microwaves as a propulsion system, utilizing the repelling quality known as the microwave soliton effect, a project and effect recently documented by Dr. Paul LaViolette’s excellent book Secrets of Antigravity Propulsion (the book is available on my website’s webstore).  What is comparatively new is Mr. Cook’s statement in the article that the effect has been extended with negligible power loss to 200km. (A side note: readers of my book Covert Wars and Breakaway Civilizations will recall the US military project to base satellites in space and to beam microwave power back to the Earth for conversion to electricity. The result of that project, had it been implemented, would have been that the Earth-bound microwave receiving stations would have been so saturated with microwave radiation as to crisp the area for 145 km/sq around the site, and nothing could have lived or grown within that area. This suggests that similar effects might be evident in Russia, and that that country, with such vast amounts of wilderness, would be the ideal place to develop and test such a technology.)

What is really intriguing about the article – and Mr. Cook apparently missed this point – is the assertion that there are also materials that have “shielding”  properties, and that these are unknown to current laws of physics. Perhaps…perhaps not, for again, readers of my books, and in particular The Philosophers’ Stone, will recall that Dr. Nicolai Kozyrev’s torsion experiments revealed that some materials shielded against torsion waves/effects more than others, and some metals, such as aluminum, shielded against it altogether. Torsion and gravity are connected, though in ways not yet adequately understood. But the bottom line here is what Mr. Cook’s article suggests, and that is, that Russia, despite all public denials about pseudo-science and so on connected with Kozyrev’s and his followers’ work, is still conducting secret research into it, and if Podkletnov’s assertions as revealed in this article are true, doing so on a large scale and developing first generation(or later) practical devices.

And finally, and most obviously, I hope you caught the subtle and implied message in the article: Russia is doing practical anti-gravity research, and they are ahead of us and we need to catch up fast….

Sound familiar?

See you on the flip side…

Anti-gravity propulsion comes ‘out of the closet’
By Nick Cook, JDW Aerospace Consultant, London - Jane's Defense Weekly

Summary: Boeing, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, has admitted it is working on experimental anti-gravity projects that could overturn a century of conventional aerospace propulsion technology if the science underpinning them can be engineered into hardware.

Boeing, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, has admitted it is working on experimental anti-gravity projects that could overturn a century of conventional aerospace propulsion technology if the science underpinning them can be engineered into hardware.

As part of the effort, which is being run out of Boeing’s Phantom Works advanced research and development facility in Seattle, the company is trying to solicit the services of a Russian scientist who claims he has developed anti-gravity devices in Russia and Finland. The approach, however, has been thwarted by Russian officialdom.

The Boeing drive to develop a collaborative relationship with the scientist in question, Dr Evgeny Podkletnov, has its own internal project name: ‘GRASP’ — Gravity Research for Advanced Space Propulsion.

A GRASP briefing document obtained by JDW sets out what Boeing believes to be at stake. "If gravity modification is real," it says, "it will alter the entire aerospace business."

GRASP’s objective is to explore propellentless propulsion (the aerospace world’s more formal term for anti-gravity), determine the validity of Podkletnov’s work and "examine possible uses for such a technology". Applications, the company says, could include space launch systems, artificial gravity on spacecraft, aircraft propulsion and ‘fuelless’ electricity generation — so-called ‘free energy’.

But it is also apparent that Podkletnov’s work could be engineered into a radical new weapon.

Podkletnov maintains that a laboratory installation in Russia has already demonstrated the 4in (10cm) wide beam’s ability to repel objects a kilometre away and that it exhibits negligible power loss at distances of up to 200km. Such a device, observers say, could be adapted for use as an anti-satellite weapon or a ballistic missile shield. Podkletnov declared that any object placed above his rapidly spinning superconducting apparatus lost up to 2% of its weight.

Although he was vilified by traditionalists who claimed that gravity-shielding was impossible under the known laws of physics, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) attempted to replicate his work in the mid-1990s. Because NASA lacked Podkletnov’s unique formula for the work, the attempt failed. NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama will shortly conduct a second set of experiments using apparatus built to Podkletnov’s specifications.

Boeing recently approached Podkletnov directly, but promptly fell foul of Russian technology transfer controls (Moscow wants to stem the exodus of Russian high technology to the West).

The GRASP briefing document reveals that BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin have also contacted Podkletnov "and have some activity in this area".

It is also possible, Boeing admits, that "classified activities in gravity modification may exist". The paper points out that Podkletnov is strongly anti-military and will only provide assistance if the research is carried out in the ‘white world’ of open development.

Sea Serpent Sightings in SF Bay
By Greg Latimer - Mysterious Destinations Research Director

Historic and Modern Day Reports of Unknown Sea Creatures in San Francisco Bay...

The busy waters of San Francisco Bay may not seem the likeliest place to find reclusive cryptids like sea serpents, but both history and current events seem to contradict that assumption.

Recorded sightings of large, serpentine sea creatures in San Francisco Bay date back to the 1800’s and continue to the present day. Prior to that, some of the animals carved into totem poles or painted on rocks by Native Americans resemble sea serpents.

Recent sightings include an observation of a serpentine animal raising its head and long neck from the water near the Golden Gate and a woman who saw a large serpentine creature consume a whole pelican in one bite.

But the most compelling observations, including video, are coming from twin brothers Bill and Bob Clark, who have been searching the bay for serpents after they had a very close encounter with one in 1985.

The Clark Brothers Embark on a Mission

The Clark brothers’ fascination with the San Francisco Bay Sea Serpent began on the morning of February 5, 1985 while they were sipping coffee parked along the shore side walkway at Marina Green in San Francisco. They observed some sea lions cavorting about 150 yards offshore directly in front of them, and while they were watching the group of sea lions they noticed what they thought was another sea lion approaching the group. When it got within a few yards of the group of sea lions it suddenly raised its head and a portion of its body approximately 10 feet straight up out of the water and then it lunged forward into the group of sea lions. The sea lions scattered with one of them making a mad dash for the shoreline in front of their car.

As it was being chased by the large serpentine marine animal, the sea lion swam over a submerged rocky ledge that, due to an extremely high tide that day, was covered by about three feet of water. The creature’s pursuit of the sea lion caused it to crash onto the submerged rocky ledge, partially exposing itself approximately 20 yards away from where the stunned brothers were sitting in their car.

For a full video of the Clark brothers describing this incident, which includes a detailed description of the animal, click here.

Since then the Clark brothers have continued to make observations and compile them on their blog.

Analysis of Video

One of the videos captured by the Clark brothers is particularly compelling. That video was taken from an elevated observation point at Fort Mason looking out toward Alcatraz Island. Even though the object is well distant from the camera, and initially appears to be birds on the water, you will see it do something birds don’t do… Turn in a full circle as it submerges.

To see the video of the possible sea serpent, click here.

Clifford Paiva of BSM Research Associates in California City, California reviewed this video and others.

Paiva is a missile defense and space sciences physicist who also uses his image analysis software and expertise to examine evidence on a variety of issues including modern day mysteries. His work was featured on he History Channel's Monsterquest episode on Flying Monsters where he performed aerodynamic and image processing work. For that episode missile defense target detection and extraction techniques were applied to a video that appeared to show a Pterosaur. These same techniques were used with the Clark brothers’ video.

In his report he stated unequivocally that: “BSM Associates determines that the video submitted by the Clark Brothers reveals an unidentified group of marine animals operating in the San Francisco Bay, 26 January 2004”.

Regarding the video linked to this article, the report stated: “A single animal was observed to reverse it’s heading 180 degrees… This motion yielded good approximations of the animal’s length and head-to-body scaling ratio… This marine animal indicates a total length of at least 75 feet” based on a variety of technical calculations made by Paiva.

The BSM report also speculates on the identity of the creature: “Although sea snake seems to be the most tenable conclusion, the authors do not dismiss the possibility of Elasmosaur for these animals.” An Elasmosaur (or Elasmosaurus) is a prehistoric water creature thought to be extinct.

(Of note: The Wikipedia description gives a maximum size on Elasmosaurus to be just over 40 feet, much shorter that the BSM image analysis. There are also inconsistencies with the Clark brothers’ description and the build of an Elasmosaurus.)

Paiva also added a warning: “Close observations of SF Bay specimens are certainly not well advised. Although the authors do not agree with the existence of sea monsters, we do recognize the existence of very large and potentially dangerous marine animals operating normally in what they may otherwise consider their winter, warm-water habitat”.

Cyptozoologist Loren Coleman of the International Crytozoology Museum in Portland, Maine reviewed the Clark brothers’ video in 2007 and made a noteworthy comparison of the object seen in the video with an illustration made in the 1800’s based on a witness description of serpentine animal observed off the coast of New England.

The Travel Channel followed up on the Clark brothers’ video with an exploration of their own, which included a night dive into the Bay.

The Clark brothers aren’t the only ones spotting sea serpents in San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas.

More Eyewitness Accounts

In November 1983, a construction crew working on Route 1 near Stinson Beach north of the Golden Gate Bridge saw a creature, underwater, approaching the land. They estimated it to be 100 feet long and about five feet in diameter. They described it as black in color. With binoculars they observed it throwing its head about and whipping it's body around in what appeared to be coils. MysteriousDestinationsMagazine.com was able to contact one of the members of this crew, who confirmed the sighting.

On February 28, 2006 a witness contacted the Clark brothers regarding an incident off Navarro Beach, about 125 miles north of San Francisco. The witness was on a fishing boat about a half-mile from shore fishing for salmon. They were chatting on the marine radio with nearby boats when the wife of one of the men on another boat said she could see a sea serpent nearby. They all were laughing about it until she told them where to look and when they looked over they saw the head and about eight feet of neck sticking out of the water in a kelp bed. They were able to get within 50 yards of it but when they tried to get closer it went straight down under the water and they didn't see it again after that.

Another witness posted a sighting in the comments section of an article about the Clarks posted on Crytomundo.com. She related the following:

“My husband and I live in the Candlestick Point condos off the 101 and saw the sea serpent twice in the summer of 2007. I saw it first while driving alone. It was undulating in and out of the water and I could clearly see what looked like several humps moving. We last saw it in August 2007. My husband saw it eat a pelican sitting in the water and those birds are huge. (This occurred) as I was driving and trying to watch the road. I didn’t see it happen, but immediately after we both witnessed a bunch of pelicans wildly dive-bombing the serpent in the water as if on the attack.”

In August of 2009 another witness saw something unexplainable in the bay while riding in a car. According to her description, a child in the car said he saw something in the water. She turned to look and observed an “enormous sea serpent in silhouette against the dark water and night sky with it's head and neck section poised out of the water at least six feet, whiskers, or appendages on its head”. She could clearly see the eyes and it was not too far from the shoreline, and was stationary in the water with two large coils rising behind it,” according to the witness. The arches rose behind the head and neck roughly four feet high, then the head moved slightly back and forth but the rest of the animal remained stationary in the water, the witness said. She only saw it for a brief period as the car sped past but she had no doubt about what she saw.

As recently as March 2013 the Clarks received a report from a witness who had observed, "This amazing creature you have documented curled out of the water (just the body)… I caught (sight of) the end of a tail...". This sighting was at Baker Beach, just south of the Golden Gate. This observation point allows an elevated view and is just south of Baker’s Beach.

Historic Sightings

On October 31, 1875 the Daily Alta California published two interviews with men who stated that had seen a sea serpent in San Francisco Bay. The newspaper proudly stated, “The source(s) of our information of the subject in hand are so reliable that, for one, we are inclined to the opinion that the sea-serpent is a reality”.

The first witness in the article is Colonel J. W. Wood, “a ticket taker at Long Wharf” who is described as man of “extreme modesty, careful reliability and general trustworthiness”.

Col. Wood stated: “It was about twelve months ago this summer, quite early in the morning -- between five and six o'clock -- that I first saw this remarkable snake. It was about one third of a mile north from the center of Long Bridge (a structure now covered with landfill and buildings), and appeared to be sporting in the water, which it agitated violently and lashed into a foam.”

He described the animal as standing “Erect from the water as one of the piles in the slips, and in the uniformity of its diameter I would judge its measure to be from 14 to 16 inches. Its height above the surface of the water was ten to fifteen feet. The head resembled that of a lizard or bullfrog, and was dazzling black, while the throat was pure white. From the head, just above a lizard shaped mouth protruded an inch or more a pair of deep black eyes, half as large as ordinary saucers”.

Col. Wood was even able to observe the creature’s body. “The body, or so much as I saw was striped in harmonious shades of black and brown, on the back and sides, the stripes running lengthwise, while the belly was almost white. Running down the center of the back was plain to be seen a sort of fin-like ruffle, about four inches in width,” he told the Daily Alta.

The second witness was Winston G. Dinsmore, the owner of a drug store located at 1059 Broadway, whose reputation was described by the newspaper as: “One of our pioneers and a most reputable citizen -- a forty-niner, and a man who, when he talks, knows what he is talking about, and who doesn't talk much for fun”. The article also noted that Dinsmore had “achieved a valuable notoriety as a dealer in an extra choice brand of Mozart cigars”.

He had witnessed a sea serpent in the bay within days of his interview. Dinsmore described the serpent as: “Swimming along with the rapidity of a steam-tug, near the old ferry landing, or Long Bridge. Its head was raised about four feet out of the water, and at intervals be could see a curvature in its huge body at a distance not less than twenty five or thirty feet from its head”.

Summary

From prehistory to present day, reports keep coming in of unknown serpentine sea creatures in the San Francisco Bay area, but a preponderance of irrefutable evidence is still pending. That’s why MysteriousDestinationsMagazine.com is launching the San Francisco Bay Sea Serpent Search in cooperation with Bill and Bob Clark, whose sighting of a serpent in 1985 sparked them to initiate their own search.

Acomb Buzz Remains a Mystery

FRUSTRATED residents in an area of York are still searching for the explanation behind a mysterious noise keeping them awake at nights and blighting their lives.

Paul and Keiko Croft, of Clay Place Acomb, first noticed the unexplained buzz in mid December.

But despite weeks of investigations they are still no closer to finding the source of the noise.

The low-frequency hum flicks on and off every few seconds. It is barely audible and is drowned out by normal background noise through the day, but at night becomes intrusive.

Since starting in December it has disturbed their sleep so much that both Paul and Keiko have had health problems.

Paul said: “When your head is on the pillow you hear it even more. We have been switching from room to room to try and get away from the noise, but we have only been getting about an hour’s sleep and it is getting us down.  It’s all right for me because I go out to work, but my wife is at home all day and can’t get away from it.”

Paul, a former telephone engineer, has his own theories about what is behind it. He says four mobile phone transmitters close to their house could be responsible, especially as they were due to start transmitting 4G signal soon.

About four months ago a power surge blew out a joint in the mains supply very close to their home, and Paul believes the electricity supply could be behind the disturbance.

They have reported the problem to the council, and had engineers from mobile phone providers and electricity companies out to the area to see if their masts or power lines are behind the problem.

And since The Press first reported the Crofts’ plight a neighbour has come forward saying she has heard the mystery noise, and people from as far afield as Liverpool and Scotland have contacted Paul and Keiko to say they have had similar experiences.

Paul says that the noise could also be coming from machinery like a generator running constantly, but has not managed to track down the source.

He thanked everyone who has been in touch or helped the couple, including council and utility workers, MP Hugh Bayley, and members of the public.

He said: “We feel a lot better knowing there are people out there concerned about this.”

TV Ghost Show Host Buys 'Ghost House' For $35,000

The basement of this house has been described as a 'portal to hell' filled with demons who tormented and possessed a mother and her three young children.

During the ordeal back in 2012 the walls of the house allegedly bled clear oil which 'froze' the finger of a social worker who touched it, and ghostly voices were recorded when police went to investigate.

So it may be surprising to learn that the property in Gary, Indiana, has now been bought for $35,000. It will be less surprising to learn that the new owner is 'ghost hunter' Zak Bagans.

Bagans, who presents Ghost Adventures on the Travel Chanel, bought the house yesterday and says he has not decided exactly what to do with it, but added that it will probably involve research into the paranormal goings-on.

He told the Indy Star: 'It's not entertainment. I really do have a passion for this stuff and the research aspect of this stuff.'

The ordinary-looking property became world-famous five days ago after the case of Latoya Ammons, a previous owner, came to light.

In 2012 Ammos says that demons began to take over her house, that objects were thrown around, her children were possessed and that the whole family nearly lost their lives.

Social workers, psychiatrists, priests, police officers, doctors and nurses have all corroborated Ammons story, including one incident in which her son was taken to hospital where staff watched in horror as he climbed backwards up a wall before flipping over his mother's head.

Audio recordings taken by police as they went to investigate the paranormal activity also seem to back up the story, as a ghostly voice can be heard whispering 'hey' as the officers talk. Neither of the officers recall hearing the voice that day.

One man who did hear something, however, was Cary Indiana Police Captain Charles Austin, 62, who says after one trip to the property a growling voice came from his AM/FM radio saying 'you outta here' before it went back to static.

He was also there the day video footage was recorded of Ammos's mother giving a tour of the house. He entered a skeptic and left convinced that he had just witnessed a ‘portal to hell.’

Speaking to MailOnline he said: ‘Everyone of us who was there that day in the basement and who saw what we saw, went through what we went through after…we all think the same, we all call it the same. That bit of dirt is a portal to hell.'

The unusual happenings also attracted the attention of local priest Father Michael Maginot, who also set out to disprove the accounts, but ended up performing one minor and three major exorcisms on Ammons and her family, and now swears that he has been targeted by demons himself.

Ammons also says she saw her daughter levitating above her bed, and a photograph has been widely circulated showing a shadowy figure standing by the window.

Zak Bagans has been producing Ghost Adventures since 2008, in which he tours haunted places with his camera crew, interviews locals about paranormal activity, investigates areas allegedly plagued by spirits and often confronts the ghosts.

According to his website, Mr Bagans became convinced of an afterlife in Trenton, Mississippi, in 2002 when he confronted the spirit of a suicidal woman in his apartment complex.

Yesterday Mr Bagans took to Twitter to say that he would address reports of him buying the house 'tomorrow'.

According to TMZ, he added: 'If it's true this home is a portal to hell, then I want to go there and see what happens.'

Apparently the current owner, an unnamed woman, was happy to sell the house to him.

It has been reported that the woman has had no issues with the house herself, and has seen none of the things described by Ammons.

However Charles Reed, the current homeowner, said media interest in the house has been unbelievable — so much so that the tenant called Gary police to complain when reporters and photographers showed up.
