Project Magnet:
The Lights in the Sky Are Not Stars

ONE MAN HOLDS THE KEY TO THE SECRETS OF THE FLYING SAUCERS AND HOW THEY ARE ABLE TO PERFORM INCREDIBLE MANEUVERS IN OUR ATMOSPHERE

– – AND HE CLAIMS THEY HAVE ESTABLISHED FACE-TO-FACE AS WELL AS MENTAL CONTACT WITH HUMANS!

– – HERE IS THE COMPLETE TOP-SECRET HISTORY OF UFOS AND HUMANOID SIGHTINGS IN CANADA,

Wilbert B. Smith was a Canadian engineer responsible for the technical aspects of broadcasting between the United States and his country during the late 1940s and Fifties. Because of the number of sightings of unidentified flying objects over Canadian air space, Smith convinced the Canadian government to establish a UFO monitoring system, which eventually did detect anomalous phenomena in the sky which Smith felt certain was of an off-world origin.

Dying of cancer, Smith made arrangements with his wife to hide his “sensitive” files so they would not fall into the hands of those who would use his findings for their own unscrupulous ends. “They will be coming to ransack all my work,” Smith proclaimed. And he was right! As predicted, Canadians, Americans and Soviets approached his widow, requesting she turn over her husband’s work as it would help to further expedite their unprincipled labors.

Smith’s proposal to set up a serious, semi-official UFO study group was accepted by the Canadian government’s Department of Transport and a “station” was set up at Shirley Bay from which observations could be made, recorded and examined to see if there were any repeatable patterns in the reports which were being collected. On one occasion, an unknown aircraft came within close range of the station. Its presence could be felt!

When Smith questioned the Americans about the possibility of UFOs, he was told that the subject was of the uppermost concern in the US and was considered more top secret than the testing of the atomic bomb.

He believe the UFOs were of extraterrestrial origin. “It is my opinion that the people from elsewhere choose all sorts of methods to make contact with us, and their technology and understanding being much better than ours, they can use methods which we find quite incomprehensible" Most of the contacts of whom I have knowledge are ‘mental’ in one form or another, directly or indirectly, but they do seem to range through almost all sorts of means, right down to personal face-to-face contact.” Smith even set up a committee or review board among those who claimed repeated contact, physical or telepathic, with space beings. His intentions were to see if any of the claims made by these individuals could be considered comparable or if there was little or no agreement among them at all. The results proved positive in that many of these “contactees” were having identical experiences. He later in life experienced his own contacts but spoke little about them.

This volume breakthrough includes an “official” historical dossier of Canadian “humanoid and critter” sightings and encounters compiled by amateur astronomer John Musgrave with a $6,000 grant from the Ottawa seat of government.

Living Bacteria Found on Outside of Space Station

Scientists have found living bacteria that could be from outer space on the surface of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS). They are being studied on Earth but most likely they don’t pose any sort of danger, Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov announced recently.

According to him, during spacewalks from the International Space Station under the Russian program, the cosmonauts took samples with cotton swabs from the station’s external surface. In particular, they took probes from places where the accumulation of fuel wastes were discharged during the engines’ operation or at places where the station’s surface is more obscure. After that, the samples were sent back to Earth.

Spacewalkers regularly take samples and materials from the outside of the station when they head outside for what are officially called "extravehicular activity". Those samples are then taken down to scientists on Earth, who study them to understand the workings of the International Space Station and possibly life in space.

"And now it turns out that somehow these swabs reveal bacteria that were absent during the launch of the ISS module. That is, they have come from outer space and settled along the external surface. They are being studied so far and it seems that they pose no danger," the Russian astronaut said.

Some terrestrial bacteria also survived on the space station’s external surface, though they had remained within a space vacuum for three years. In addition to that, they underwent sharp swings in temperature from minus 150 to plus 150 degrees Celsius, he noted.

The bacteria were brought to the space station accidentally on tablet PCs together with various materials that are placed aboard the ISS for long periods to study the materials’ behavior in outer space.

It isn't entirely clear where the rumoured organisms are currently being stored, and what scientists know about them. Finding bacteria that came from somewhere other than Earth would be one of the biggest breakthroughs in the history of science – but much more must be done before such a claim is made.

Earlier this year, Russian scientists announced that the "Test" experiments had found a range of different organisms that had been brought up from Earth and seemed to be surviving by clinging onto the ISS's hull. They included plankton and bacteria that had been pulled up by a phenomenon that lifts micro-organisms up into the heights of the atmosphere.

"Experiments of various years have revealed fragments of Mycobacteria DNA - a marker of heterotrophic bacterial sea plankton in the Barents Sea; the DNA of extremophile bacteria of the genius Delftria; the DNA of bacteria closely related to those found in soil samples from the island of Madagascar; vegetative genomes; the DNA of certain species of Archaea and the DNA of fungus species Erythrobasidium and Cystobasidium," the Russian space agency Roscosmos said in a statement obtained by TASS that was published in May.

Crashed Saucers and the Secret Life of Canda's Wilbert B. Smith
By Sean Casteel

Though it is a little known fact, the truth is that certain individuals with ties to the Canadian government have secretly been promoting the idea that UFOs are operating in Earth's atmosphere and are piloted not by "monsters," but by a group or groups of individuals who are as human as we are but are technologically more advanced than the human race.

Former Canadian Defense Minister Paul Hellyer (1963-1967) shocked the media several years ago by stating that he was convinced that off-world visitors have been zipping across the heavens for thousands of years, and that it's not impossible that aliens have infiltrated  our society and are walking the streets undetected because they resemble us almost identically.

But as much attention as Mr. Hellyer's remarks might have gotten in the press, many decades before, another Canadian had made similar bold remarks concerning Ultra-Terrestrials coming here either from other planets or from a parallel universe.

*** So let us begin by journeying back in time to when UFOlogy was young and the groundwork was being laid for the greatest cosmic adventure the world has ever experienced. "Project Magnet" tells the story of a Canadian radio engineer's transformation from scientific, nuts-and-bolts UFO researcher to ardent follower of the Space Brothers' philosophy.

*** We are currently engaged in a crucial metaphysical battle against the forces seeking to destroy mankind. Can we align ourselves with the good forces seeking our salvation? Is it too late to redeem our race from destruction and damnation?

*** Are the flying saucers sent to Earth by God Almighty? Are they His cosmic sign that eventually love will conquer all? "Project Magnet" offers hope in our potential rescue along with hard scientific data on the UFO phenomenon.

*******

Even as an ardent student of UFOlogy, you may not know the name of Wilbert Smith. He is an unsung hero in the field, but remains indisputably important in the more than 50 years since his death in 1962.

Global Communications CEO Timothy Green Beckley has recently assembled a book that pays tribute to Smith and the 1950s, the era in which Smith pursued the truth of the UFO mystery. The new book is called "Project Magnet," with the subtitle - "The Objects in the Sky Are Not Stars!"

Beckley writes in his introduction: "Almost forgotten these days, Smith was a highly-educated engineer who coaxed the Canadian government into establishing Project Magnet, a threadbare project to study and treat reports of UFOs seriously so as to determine who - or what - might be behind this mysterious phenomenon that was seemingly taking over the skies of North America after the end of the Second World War."

THE SEARCH FOR GEO-MAGNETISM OPENS THE DOOR

Project Magnet began operations in 1950 with the purpose of studying, among other occurrences, magnetic phenomena. Wilbert Smith, a senior radio engineer from the Canadian Department of Transport, was put in charge of the project. The goals of Project Magnet were fueled by the concepts of geo-magnetism, and the belief that it might be possible to use and manipulate the Earth's magnetic field as a propulsion method for vehicles.

Smith came to believe that this technology already existed in the mysterious UFOs that had been sighted so frequently in Canada, the U.S. and the rest of the world.  He felt that the "correlation between our basic theory and the available information on saucers checks too closely to be mere coincidence."

Nevertheless, Smith's approach to the study of UFOs was a pragmatic one.

"It is perfectly natural in the human thinking mechanism," Smith wrote, "to try and fit observations into an established pattern. It is only when observations stubbornly refuse to be so fitted that we become disturbed. When this happens, we may, and usually do, take one of three courses. First, we may deny completely the validity of the observations; or second, we may pass the whole subject off as something of no consequence; or third, we may accept the discrepancies as real and go to work on them. In the matter of saucer sightings, all three of these reactions have been strikingly apparent. The first two approaches are obviously negative and from which a definite conclusion can never be reached. It is the third approach - acceptance of the data and subsequent research - that is dealt with in this report."

To this day, there has never been a clearer statement of how to take an honest and open-minded look at the UFO phenomenon. Smith's urging his peers to accept the strange and mysterious "discrepancies" as the starting point for serious research has echoed down through UFOlogy in the decades since but has sadly remained mostly unheeded.

Smith went on to explain that the data he and his team had to work with consisted largely of sightings reports as observed throughout Canada. This included many reports from the field representatives of the Department of Transport, whose job it is to watch the sky and who are trained to do precisely those kinds of observations. Useful data was also obtained from instruments, such as those at ionospheric observatories.

But Smith cautioned against expecting too much from the field stations because of the very sporadic nature of the sightings. And laboratory studies were useless without some kind of specimen with which to experiment, and it was not likely that such a specimen would be obtained any time soon. So, according to Smith, we are then forced to rely on "deductive reasoning," at least until it is possible to work out procedures more in line with conventional experimental methods.

WHAT WAS THE GOVERNMENT HIDING?

In 1950, prior to the establishment of Project Magnet, Smith was attending what he called "a rather slow-moving broadcasting conference in Washington D.C." He had some time on his hands so he circulated around, asking a few questions about flying saucers. "Which stirred up a hornet's nest. I found that the U.S. government had a highly classified project set up to study them, so I reasoned that with so much smoke maybe I should look for the fire."
Smith subsequently made "discreet enquiries" through the Canadian Embassy staff in Washington, who were able to obtain for him the following information:

1. The matter is the most highly classified subject in the U.S. government, rating even higher than the A-bomb.
2. Flying saucers exist.
3. Their modus operandi is unknown but concentrated effort is being made by a small group headed by Dr. Vannevar Bush, who some maintain was the initial guiding force behind a secret government cabal known as Majestic 12, created to monitor a number of UFO crashes, including the one in Roswell, NM (circa July, 1947) in which several alien bodies were recovered from the wreckage. It was Bush and company's purpose to foil the flow of information on the UFOs to the American public and to literally censor the truth about the arrival of ETs on our planet.
4. The entire matter is considered by the United States authorities to be of tremendous significance.

Smith said his investigations were a matter of simple curiosity and that he began as an extreme skeptic, fully expecting the phenomenon to be manmade or created by natural causes. He gave his credentials as an impartial and qualified researcher, saying,

"I am 48-years-old, hold a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, occupy a responsible position in the Canadian government, hold half a dozen patents, am author of several technical papers, and in general enjoy a background in technical work and science indicating at least an average competence to study and report on phenomena of a scientific nature. I have tried so far as possible to use conventional and standard methods and equipment to investigate all possible angles before drawing any conclusions. In other words, I have followed the same general procedures which I would have followed if I had undertaken to study some more prosaic subject, such as radio wave propagation."

One of the foremost revelations in "Project Magnet" is Wilbert Smith's report that he was told by U.S. officials on his various visits to Washington that they had retrieved at least one UFO that had crashed in the Southwest at Roswell and were examining the remains of the corpses of several alien bodies found within the wreckage (unconfirmed). The revelation to Smith that a craft from outer space may have crashed in the desert is said to have stunned him at first, but later he came to take such bombshell events in stride.

As stated above, American scientists had gone so far as to declare that the existence of flying saucers should be kept more highly classified than the development of the atomic bomb. Because of these revelations, Smith went back home to appeal to his superiors not to let the Americans pull ahead in their findings about these flying discs and urged that Canadian researchers begin their own official study, which was quickly established under the "code name" Project Magnet.

The story of what Project Magnet uncovered is a major part of this just released tome edited by publisher Tim Beckley. The book also includes updated revelations by contemporary researcher Grant Cameron (PresidentialUFO.com) as well as a bonus history of humanoid and creature sightings and close encounters throughout Canada by the late amateur astronomer John Musgrave, who worked while on a grant from Ottawa's government. Perhaps the most exciting part of this book is the disclosure that Wilbur Smith was a UFO contactee himself and was in touch with others on a regular basis who claimed to have received communications from off-earth dwellers.

MOVING BEYOND SIMPLE PHYSICAL REALITY

It is important, in the light of where his studies would eventually take Smith, to establish his credibility as a pragmatic scientist approaching the UFO subject in the utmost of "real world" terms. Smith explains, "If we are to rely on sightings data alone, we are bound to get a rather one-sided idea of these creatures. For example, we see saucers traveling at terrific speeds and then suddenly stop or change direction. Under our concepts of physics, no creature of flesh, blood and bone could withstand the terrific forces which would be associated with such actions.  Therefore we are led to assume that the saucerians must be some manner of robot or a creature the like of which we have never encountered."

He also points out that, in spite of their unknowably high level of technological achievement, the UFO occupants have never simply landed and announced that they were taking over the earth. This is perhaps because they regard us as in the same general category as the other flora and fauna native to this planet and believe our civilization is so primitive as to be indistinguishable from that of the lower animals and insects.

But such speculations don't necessarily lead us to the truth, according to Smith. Fortunately the UFO occupants HAVE made contact with certain earthlings deemed to be capable of receiving the information and passing it along to others. Along with the many sightings reports Smith began collecting and analyzing claims of contact with the aliens and to assemble what he felt were the mores and ethics of the people from the flying saucers.

"It adds up to a complete and elegant philosophy," Smith wrote. "These people tell us of a magnificent cosmic plan, of which we are a part, which transcends the lifetime of a single person or a nation or a civilization - or even a planet or solar system. We are not merely told that there is something beyond our immediate experience; we are told what it is, why it is, and our relation thereto. Many of our most vexing problems are solved with a few words; at least we are told of the solutions if we have the understanding and fortitude to apply them.

"We are told of the inadequacies of our science," he continued, "and we have been given the basic grounding for a new science which is at once simpler and yet more embracing than the mathematical monstrosity which we have conjured up. We have been told of a way of life which is utopian beyond our dreams and the means of attaining it. Can it be that such a consistent, magnificent philosophy is the figment of the imaginations of a number of misguided morons? I do not think so."

If such is the case and all of this is known, the reasonable person asks, then why has it not been publicized? Why aren't we studying the sciences gifted to us by the aliens instead of atom bombs?

The answer, Smith tells us, is that it HAS been publicized. Books have been written and thousands of copies sold. There are many periodicals available containing this knowledge, which may be had for a nominal sum. Reports have been prepared by serious investigators and presented "through the proper channels."

THE FLYING SAUCERS AND THEIR ABILITY TO CHANGE "REALITY"

"But it is truly said," Smith acknowledged, "that one can lead a horse to water but one cannot make him drink. There are probably as many private reasons for not facing up to the facts as there are people who refuse to do so. However, it is consoling to realize that, through the humble and often criticized comic strip and science fiction stories, the younger generation is being conditioned to accept the reality of people from elsewhere, and when given the opportunity to do so avidly assimilate all they can get on flying saucers and the people who fly them."

One is struck by the overwhelming transformative power the study of UFOs and their occupants often has on people. Smith's interest in flying saucers began as a mild case of curiosity and over a few years became something like a religious fervor.

In a portion of Smith's writing collected in "Project Magnet," entitled "The Battle for Man's Mind," he feels called upon to warn his readers about a grave danger we are all facing, either consciously or unconsciously. Two great forces are striving to gain control of man's mind, a struggle that has been going on from time immemorial.

"But never in the world's history," he wrote, "has the conflict been more intense than it is in this present era of confusion and unrest. In the old days, mankind was often made to suffer physically, unspeakable things in the name of power. But today, with man's mind more developed and better educated, he is now facing the prospect of a refinement of even greater mental and spiritual cruelty - unless he is prepared to protect himself with right thinking."

Smith describes one of the two great forces as positive, leading us to thoughts of harmony and the concept of the love of God and the brotherhood of man. The other force is negative, encompassing the antichrist philosophy and serving a mad lust for power. The battle takes place on both the physical and metaphysical fronts with the object being the spiritual salvation of mankind or our utter destruction.

GOOD, EVIL, AND OUR STAGE OF EVOLUTION

Man's brain, Smith teaches, operates on the metaphysical plane like a two-way radio, transmitting and receiving messages along the airwaves of the universe. [This is a very apt metaphor, when one considers that Smith was a government expert on radio broadcasting.] Man's brain is open to both good and bad input, which he either accepts or rejects according to his stage of evolution.

Messages received through esoteric sources, purporting to come from the Space Brothers, who take an active interest in our spiritual welfare, warn us that an even greater conflict is being fought on the metaphysical plane. The lower or negative forces that damned themselves by wrong thinking are projecting strong thoughts earthward in an attempt to bring about our spiritual downfall. On the other hand, the Space Brothers are concentrating equally hard on sending out positive thoughts of goodwill and brotherly love.

"Thus we are being bombarded from the metaphysical plane by two conflicting schools of thought," Smith wrote. "And free will being the criterion of spiritual advancement, it is left to us which we choose to accept. However, from a purely logical point of view, if we want to save ourselves a lot of sorrow both in this life and lives to come, we should arm ourselves mentally against the onslaught of negative thoughts."

It is no time for confused or apathetic thinking, which can lead to the exact forms of negativity Smith is warning us against.

WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED IN 'PROJECT MAGNET'

So "Project Magnet" is more than mere nostalgia. It demonstrates a near prescience on the part of Wilbert Smith, who clearly saw into the nature of our troubled times and the constant struggle our minds are required to muster against evil thought forms and ideas.

Publisher and editor Timothy Green Beckley talks about other aspects of the book in his introduction.

"I have added relevant material from numerous contributors, as well as from both new and archival sources" Beckley writes.

"Grant Cameron (the only provider of reliable "Disclosure" updates as far as I am concerned) is a vast depository of knowledge on Smith, being a Canuck himself, and has been exceedingly helpful in my compilation. And since Smith is certainly the most important figure in Canadian UFO history, no work on Project Magnet, as far as I am concerned, would be complete without a little known manuscript I personally published in 1979 by John Musgrave, which is a chronicle of humanoid and critter encounters North of the American side of the border. I was upset to learn Musgrave went into spirit a number of years ago. His work is one of the best catalogs of UFO encounters of the third kind ever published, and it certainly should be shared with contemporary researchers of UFO lore, as it makes the subject of Project Magnet as complete as it could possibly be."

So maybe you should choose, of your own free will, to buy a copy of "Project Magnet"? It couldn't hurt, really, to read how Wilbert Smith's scientific study of flying saucers grew into a spiritual devotion to his fellow man and to the God who teaches us to love one another.

FURTHER DOCUMENTATION:

MIKE WALLACE INTERVIEWS MAJOR DONALD E. KEYHOE

WALLACE: You say the Canadian official project, what do you mean by the official...?

KEYHOE: There was an official project called "Project Magnet," and they set up an observatory at Shirley Bay to try to track these things. And...

WALLACE: What happened to the official project? You say there was a project.

KEYHOE: Yes. They ran for about a year and they had one sighting on the gravimeter, which indicated that something... a very large object had flow over there, but they finally decided that they were spending a little bit much money on that, I suppose.

WALLACE: For certain, they wouldn't have thought that they were spending too much money on it, if they believed that that kind of phenomena existed.

KEYHOE: A lot of people on the project are still working up there on their own time and certain government officials have still kept the lid on the reports in Canada, just as they do down here.

Smith believed UFOs utilized the magnetic polarity of the earth to propel themselves through our atmosphere.

The Mandela Effect: An Academic Explanation
By Sally Painter

The Mandela Effect is a very curious phenomenon that was named by Fiona Broome, a paranormal consultant. Broome discovered that she and possibly thousands of people shared what proved to be a false memory.

The group shared the false memory that Nelson Mandela, South African civil rights activist, had died in prison sometime during the 1980s. Mandela died in 2013.

Another well-known example is the group memory of the children’s book The Berenstain Bears, that originally was spelled Berenstein, according to many people who recall the original book title.
False Memory Explanations

The Mandela Effect is explained as the result of a multiverse. This explanation reaches into quantum physics as how such false memories are created. It utilizes the famous think experiment, Schrödinger’s Cat.

In 1935, Nobel Prize-winning Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger challenged the popular 1920s Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics with what became known as Schrödinger’s Cat. The Copenhagen Interpretation was an attempt to understand and explain atoms (2).

Some scientists embraced Schrödinger’s Cat as proof of the Copenhagen Interpretation while others agreed with Schrödinger that it was an impossible interpretation.
Schrödinger’s Cat

The concept that many people have of Schrödinger’s Cat is that a cat in a box is both dead and alive until the box is opened and the cat is observed. This pared down version often misses the point of the thought experiment Schrödinger created.

In the Schrödinger’s Cat Theory, a cat is placed inside a box with low-level radioactive material that has a 50/50 chance of being detected by a Geiger counter within the span of an hour. The Geiger counter is also placed inside the box with the cat. In addition, a vial of poison and a hammer are added before the box is sealed.

If the Geiger counter goes off, detecting the radiation, then the hammer will be triggered to smash the vial and release the poison, killing the cat instantly. Schrödinger proposed that the outcome of the cat wasn’t known until the box was opened and someone actually observed the status of the cat. This meant that the cat was considered both alive and dead until that observation was made.

In this scenario, many have debated that the cat is both dead and alive, only in different universes. In one universe, the cat lives and in the other universe, the cat dies. This multiverse theory is how Broome explained the false shared memories.

Those who experience the Mandela Effect, according to Broome don’t have a false memory. In fact, they share the memory of an event that took place in a parallel universe. In 1957, the multiverse, parallel universes theory was first introduced by quantum physicist Hugh Everett III. This theory proposes that multiple realities exist simultaneously.

Broome speculated that what are called false group memories are realities from a shared different timeline that has merged with the current timeline.
Possible Explanations for False Memories

There are several possible explanations for a group of people having what is known as a false memory.

False stories spread as true stories and remembered as being fact.
The science behind how memories are created and reinforced through recollection.
The transferring of a memory (memory trace) that is consolidated from a temporary storage area (hippocampus) in the brain to a permanent one (prefrontal cortex.).
Memories can weaken and alter when recalled.
Memories can be consolidated and reconsolidated. The neural connections can generate new associations to a memory that weren’t originally there.

According to recent studies, memory is a complex process and over time, can become distorted, especially if the memory is reconsolidated and moved, thereby creating neural connections that are paired up with similar and other memories.

Given over a period of 10 or 15 years, such as the Nelson Mandela shared memory, it’s easy to see how such false memories could be created.

Unidentified Submarine Objects in Argentina - A Conspiracy?
By Luis Burgos - "Ovnis Siglo XXI" © 2017

As a consequence of the tragic events involving the submarine ARA San Juan on 15 November 2017, many people have contacted us asking whether [the tragedy] could be related with an aspect of our research. It need not be said that to insinuate any such connection is extremely hazardous. Time will tell what really happened after the search and recovery operations have been completed. All we can do is theorize and offer opinions. This, then, is our contribution.

With the period of widespread confusion now behind us (seven calls [from the submarine], biological noises, hydroacoustic anomalies, floating rafts and buoys, etc.) and with the nature of the incident being a certainty, the subject has two basic aspects: the nature of the explosion and the recovery operations.

Causes of the Explosion

A. Internal, due to battery failure. The "officially" accepted cause.
B. Internal, due to descending to critical depths as a consequence of equipment failure.
C. Collision with an 'unknown object'
D. Attack by an 'unknown object'

Without question, this is the most disquieting point. The ARA San Juan was on its way back from participating in Operation Cormorant in the South Seas with international forces. Its destination, ostensibly Mar del Plata, brought it close to the Exclusion Area imposed by British forces [during the 1982 Falklands War] and in spite of the fact that we are at peace and not war, the 'conflict hypothesis' floats overhead like a phantom.

Recovery Mission

An impressive array of countries offering Argentina logistical and humanitarian assistance, among them four of the five members of the UN Security Council (The U.S., Russia, France, the U.K. and China). This is extremely important, but we would do well to consider a possibility that covers three hypotheses, such as:

A. This aid is offered without strings attached because they're 'good guys'
B. This aid is offered, but with a view to benefitting from the situation- marine resources, espionage, future treaties, etc.
C. They want to find out what really happened using 'safety hazard' as an excuse.

Once more we must pause to ponder: Argentina is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT - 1968) along with the world powers. Several of these countries deployed to our Patagonia as soon as the news became known - a massive operation involving 4000 people. They will stay there, in fact, until what happened to the San Juan is known, as the deaths of forty-four crewmembers is a given. In this state of affairs, it becomes evident that something isn't quite right for them. The official communiqué from the Argentinean Navy is chilling: "An anomalous, unique, short, violent and non-nuclear event", more so in the awareness that the blast wave was felt as far away as South Africa and probably the Indian Ocean.

The burning question would be: do the elite nations working at Ground Zero (United States, Russia, France, Britain and Germany) suspect that there is something more afoot? Hypothetically, do these people debate the possibility that the ARA San Juan carried within it some sort of nuclear weaponry that would jeopardize not only marine ecology, but international and arms policy as well?

A basic issue can be held against us as a nation, and can make others look at us askance. The infamous subject of the Condor II missile and its consequences (1989). Sadder still is that we may never know the true causes of such an incident, but this hypothesis, just one among many, will perhaps serve as a shortcut toward solving the riddle of why [all these countries] are here in our sea.

We cannot ignore the account of the 'underwater object' detected by the American aircraft 300 kilometers away from Port Madryn, Chubut, at a depth of seventy meters - an account that was set aside the next day, when it became known that the submarine's trajectory took it in a straight line to the Gulf of San Jorge, in other words, some 140 nautical miles to the south.

As a final consideration on this, all we can say is that Argentina needs to reassess its armed forces. An earnest reassessment that must be taken as such by the authorities involved, in other words, the three branches of government (executive, legislative and judicial) and the three branches of the services (Air Force, Army and Navy). This is a priority for today, not tomorrow or coming years. This is not a joke. Unfortunately, and while it is a hard admission to make, the responsible party for the condition of our armed forces today is...democracy. Thirty-four years have elapsed since the restoration of democratic rule in 1983 and no government did a thing about it, rather, they worked against it: budget cuts, lack of adequate maintenance, dismantling, etc. It was startling to see countless politicians from the past three decades speaking out in recent days, showing concern and preferring explanations. "Corruption kills" is an aphorism that applies to all of them. The gaping hole in the armed forces is now relegated to the back burner, which is a supreme blunder.

Next, we shall review the subject of unidentified traffic in these distant waters. From the birth of the phenomenon, the flying saucers of yesteryear - today's UFOs - were intimately linked to water. There is a proliferation of events in world case histories involving unidentified flying objects emerging from or plunging into rivers, lakes, lagoons and seas. It didn't take much to theorize about the possibility of bases in lacustrine areas, giving rise to USOs - Unidentified Submersible Objects. Other researchers made tacit reference to Submarine or Sub-Aquatic Objects. What matters is that our country was not free from such events, and incidents were reported as far back as the 1940s in watery areas throughout Argentina. My article "Luces en los Lagos" (Lights in the Lakes) is online and discusses incidents with these characteristics, suggesting the possibility that they are being used as both permanent or temporary dwelling places and shelters.

Not a week had gone by since the "first case involving a flying saucer in Argentina" (10 July 1947 in La Plata, Buenos Aires) when the UFO-Water connection was already hinted at. In fact, at 0900 hours on 15 July of that year, the crew of a Polish vessel moored at Puerto Nuevo, as well as personnel from the Uruguayan Naval prefecture, detected a 'strange artifacts similar to an airplane' plunging into the River Plate. Air transportation enterprises were queried about the possible loss of one of their aircraft, with negative results. The disquieting question floated on the waters of Rio de la Plata: what kind of flying object fell from the sky on that winter day?

These episodes continued during following years. News items from the Patagonian littoral spoke of bizarre objects rising out of the sea or diving into it, as occurred in Rio Grande (Tierra del Fuego) and Puerto Coig (Santa Cruz) in 1950 or in Comodoro Rivadavia (Chubut) in 1953. What is truly bewildering is that incidents were being reported at the Federal Capital's doorstep as well.

A curious object resembling a "sea mine", red in color, was seen floating near the Recalcada pontoon in the River Plate on 19 February 1953. It was at 35 degrees longitude south and 56 degrees longitude west, confirmed by the skipper of the vessel "San Jorge" and the crew of the SS Coracero. The search was fruitless.

During the month of June 1959, according to official sources, a submersible unidentified object resembling 'a blimp' plunged into the River Plate.

The Mysterious 1960s

Thus, we arrive at the controversial decade that witnessed numerous 'persecutions' of strange and elusive objects by the Argentinean Navy in our Patagonian gulfs, particularly in the waters of Golfo Nuevo in the Valdés Peninsula and in Golfo San Jorge. All of this ended in the creation of the notorious Official Commissions as well as having three presidents - Arturo Frondizi, Arturo Illia and Gen. Juan Carlos Onganía - taking in interest in the matter. All intercepts and bombardments with depth charges proved in vain. For years, USOs roamed free in those waters until the incidents thinned out and dwindled in following decades. Therefore, the Navy disentangled itself from the situation and the entire situation involving objects plunging or rising from the coast was limited to the testimony of fishermen, tourists, drivers or local inhabitants.

Perhaps the best-remembered case is the one involving farmer Carlos Corosan, who witnessed "a large cigar-shaped object, metallic-looking, that plunged into the sea near Puerto Deseado (Santa Cruz), giving off smoke during daylight hours. It caused a thunderous roar in the water." (1966).

Hypotheses concerning the existence of permanent lairs under our seas, serving the function of true UFO bases, began to gain strength. In short, an intense biological activity safe from any hazards in those depths...

Anecdotally, my brother Pedro Trachlsler was doing his military service aboard the destroyer ARA Cervantes in those years. The crew was put on alert when an unidentified flying object was detected in the waters of Golfo Nuevo. It was intercepted and depth charges were dropped, followed by a salvo of torpedoes. When these did not strike their intended target, they were collected from the surface and reeled aboard. Before vanishing, he said, the USO 'passed right under the warship."

The 1975 Intruder

Among many accounts from the 1970s, one stands out due to the quality of the witnesses, despite the fact that they chose to remain anonymous. Around 0130 hours on 16 July, these four people - two businessmen and two traveling salesmen were fishing at the pier in Caleta Oliva (Santa Cruz). The night was quiet. Suddenly one of them saw an odd cigar-shaped silhouette under the water at 100 meters from their position. It was some 10 meters long, completely silent, had well-defined borders and was greenish-yellow in color. For some twenty minutes, the USO traveled slowly along the coast heading south until it vanished.

The next day, several residents of Caleta Olivia confirmed the discovery of large numbers of dead fish on their shrores, as well as dead seagulls and albatrosses. Fishing was impossible throughout the day.

The San Blas Incident

The presence of USOs was officially corroborated in the mid-1980s. This time it was the Bay of San Blas, to the south of Buenos Aires, known as "the fisherman's paradise"

On the night of 3 June 1988, the oil tanker 'Puerto Rosales' advised the naval prefecture that it had detected an unidentified floating object some 20 miles from the coast, first on radar and then visually. The object did not respond to any signals sent. An alert condition was declared and the Argentinean Navy sent out a force that included airplanes from the Comandante Espora base, the corvette 'Grandville', the destroyer 'Sarandi' and an Electra 6 P-101 that took off from the Almirante Zar base in Trelew, Chubut. It should be noted that the area in which the object was traveling, facing the Segunda Barranca lighthouse, is rather shallow. It is perhaps for this reason that the Navy report substituted the word 'submarine' for 'floating object'.

Epilogue

Some thirty years ago, the existence of these 'underwater bases' was supported in various newspaper features. Little or nothing has changed today. These USOs continue to move and behave as they did in the 1940s or 1950s, with the same impunity as ever, as if the territory was theirs or if they had occupied it underwater for a very long time. They travel deep into the sea, stunning large vessels, or only a few meters from the shore, startling fishermen or local residents. Therefore, the existence of an unknown intelligence operating under the waters of the Mar Argentino and therefore, the Atlantic Ocean, is far from being a mere hypothesis and more of a fact. Our case histories attest to this and these events will keep repeating...once again it shown that despite the technological prowess of the great powers, able to locate a car's hubcap or a tennis ball by means of satellites, a considerable difference is apparent when compared to the UFO phenomenon.

- DEAR DAVID IS COMING TO GET YOU DEPARTMENT -

NY Cartoonist Haunted By "Demon Child"
By Clemence Michallon, Valerie Siebert and Charlie Lankston

A New York man who claims he is being haunted by the ghost of a demon child has shared the latest in a series of chilling updates regarding unexplained happenings inside his apartment.

Adam Ellis has been chronicling the ghostly activities of the entity, whom he says is called Dear David, since August on his Twitter account, which now has 666,000 followers.

Earlier this month, Adam began hearing mysterious noises coming from his roof and decided to investigate them, which led him to make his newest creepy discovery.

'The other week, I was tweeting the most recent update from the living room couch. About 30 seconds after I'd sent the last tweet, I heard a thump directly above my head, as if someone above me had dropped something on the floor—which is impossible, since I'm in the top apartment,' he wrote.

'There's also no way to access the roof. There aren't any ladders on the outside of the building. The only way you'd get on the roof is through a skylight in the hallway. There are no trees in the immediate vicinity, either.

'It definitely wasn't pipes, either. It was distinctly the sound of something falling to the floor. My building is old and makes lots of noises, but this was a new sound and it startled me.'

Adam then explained that there is a 'mysterious' hatch extremely high up on the ceiling of his hallway, which he never paid much attention to until the noises started occurring.

Determined to get to the bottom of the situation, Adam bought a long pole for $38.99 on Amazon and waited for it to be delivered.

The cartoonist also noted that it seems like there are three feet of empty space between the hatch and the roof, and the hatch is on the same level as all the ceilings in his apartment, which could suggest that there are three feet of empty space above his home.

Adam didn't tweet for a few days, but returned after Thanksgiving to announce his pole had been delivered and the noises were still happening.

'I'd barely fallen asleep when I woke up to an INCREDIBLY loud crash above me,' he wrote, recounting a recent occurrence.

'It sounded like someone had dropped a bowling ball. I bolted upright in bed and immediately felt strange. There was a weird energy all around me. I can't explain it.

'After about a minute I heard another crash. I briefly thought about grabbing my shoes and booking it, but that would mean passing under the hatch, and that seemed like a bad idea. So instead I just listened and waited, though I'm not sure for what.

'The crash happened again, and then again—probably 15 times in a row, followed by a long silence. Then I heard a smaller, creaky sound from the hallway. In my mind I registered it as a footstep, but it really could've been anything.

'I stayed still, but there were no more sounds after that. I lay back down, still tense and nervous, but I must've fallen asleep at some point because I woke up the next morning and everything seemed normal again. I got dressed and left to go get a bagel, same as every Saturday.'

But on his way out, Adam noticed debris on the stairs, under the mysterious hatch. When he looked up, he saw that something appeared to have gotten caught in the opening.

He then set up his video camera and went to fetch his pole to poke the hatch open.

'I set my camera on the coat wardrobe at the top of the stairs and hit record, just to make sure it would be caught on video if a demon burst out of the hatch,' he wrote.

When Adam poked the hatch, it opened, and he was terrified to see something fall on the ground.

'I jumped out of the way and practically fell down the stairs trying to dodge whatever it was that fell. At first I thought it was a dead squirrel, which would honestly explain a lot. It hit the steps and bounced down to the first floor,' he recounted.

However, open closer inspection, the objected turned out to be a small leather shoe that looks significantly worn-out.

After the discovery, Adam texted his landlord, who came back with a ladder and a flashlight to take a closer look inside the crawlspace.

'I stared up at him, half expecting something to grab him and yank him into the darkness. He angled his flashlight all around and finally saying, "There's nothing up here," ' Adam recounted.

'But then he was like, "Oh, wait." I watched as he reached up into the emptiness with his free arm, and when he pulled it back he had something small and round in his hand. He climbed down the ladder and handed it to me.'

The item was a marble, which Adam said had 'a little bump on one end'.

'My landlord seemed unbothered for the most part (uhhh ok dude) and he told me to call him if I heard anything else. I went inside and headed to my office to see if I could figure anything out about this marble that somehow made its way into my ceiling,' he added.

Adam hasn't been able to figure out much about where the shoe and the marble might have come from, and remains thoroughly confused as to the unexpected happenings that he says keep unfolding in and around his apartment.

Earlier this month, Adam shared images of what he said was Dear David staring at him and shuffling towards him in his bedroom.

'It's been about four months since the first time I dreamed of David,' he tweeted.

'Last night I dreamed about him again. It was almost exactly the same as the first time I saw him.'

He then said that while dreaming about Dear David, he felt mostly paralyzed but managed to move just enough to grab his phone and start snapping pictures.

'Sure enough, he crawled down off the chair and began shuffling toward me. He moved slowly, like it was a struggle for him,' Adam wrote.

'I felt terrified, but I kept taking photos. David limped closer toward me, never taking his eyes off me. Soon I was face to face with him.

'He started muttering something, too quiet for me to understand. I watched as his eyes rolled back in his head, until they were all white.

'I tried to writhe away from him, but I could barely move. I stared in horror as he began crawling up onto my bed, still murmuring something.

'And that's when I woke up. Same as before. Broad daylight. No trace of David anywhere.'

Later during that day, Adam took a look at the photos on his phone and, according to his account, saw several black images.

He shared the snaps with his followers, warning them to up the brightness, and naturally, the spine-chilling photos all show a terrifying figure reminiscent of Dear David crawling towards him, just like it did in his dream.

The Dear David saga began in August, when Adam posted a very lengthy Twitter thread that began with the blunt claim: 'So, my apartment is currently being haunted by the ghost of a dead child and he's trying to kill me.'

Adam's story began with a series of very vivid dreams featuring a child with a misshapen head sitting in a green rocking chair at the end of his bed, while he terrifyingly experiences sleep paralysis.

'For a while he just stared at me, but then he got out of the chair and started shambling toward the bed,' he said. 'Right before he reached my bed, I woke up screaming. '

A few nights after that horrifying experience, he dreamed of a girl approaching him in a library telling him that the boy he met was called 'Dear David.'

'He's dead. He only appears at midnight, and you can ask him two questions if you said "Dear David" first,' Adam claimed she said. 'But never try to ask him a third question, or he'll kill you.'

Adam was confronted again with David in his dreams soon after and questioned him about how he died, learning it was an accident in a store that saw someone push a shelf onto his head.

He mistakenly asked a third question before waking up petrified. He researched online looking for boys who died in stores in the city but found nothing.

Adam eventually moved into a larger apartment upstairs from his own and months went by without any sight nor sign of Dear David until suddenly his cats began acting strangely.

'For the past four nights, my cats gather at the front door at exactly midnight & just stare at it, almost like something is on the other side,' he said in tweets from earlier this month.

Adam also claimed that he had been getting phone calls from an unmarked number and when he answered once he heard the noise of static before a small voice whispered 'hello.' Terrified, he hung up the phone.

'I didn't know what else to do. I closed all the curtains in my apartment and turned on every single light. I watched TV until dawn because I was too scared to go to sleep. I sort of feel like I'm losing my mind,' said.

Unsurprisingly, Adam's ghost story has proved a riveting read for many users, and the first tweet of the thread has been shared more than 55,000 times while attracting plenty of ghost-fighting advice from strangers including 'finding the remains' of the child and 'burning them' or spreading salt around his apartment.

Police Catch Man Prepared to Battle "Lizard People"

PARKLAND, Wash. -- A 55-year-old Eatonville man armed himself with an AK-47 and a pistol over the weekend to battle "the lizard people," the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said.

The man told law enforcement that President Trump had called to warn him.

The man ended up being sent to a hospital for treatment and a mental health evaluation.

Just after 8 p.m. Saturday, a witness called 911 to report a white Jeep Cherokee was stopped at 108th Street South and Pacific Avenue South in Parkland.

A state trooper later reported that a man got out of the Cherokee was was waving around an AK-47 and a pistol.

A number of troopers and deputies converged. The man put the guns back in the car. He was ordered to the ground, where he began to scream about "sending in the news" and "the lizard people," the Sheriff's Department said.

He resisted when officers tried to handcuff him. A trooper and a Sheriff's Department deputy both used a Taser on him, the Sheriff's Department said.

The Sheriff's Department says the man told a deputy that he had "snorted methamphetamine to lose weight" and that he was taking prescribed morphine.

"The meth doesn't make me crazy, man," the Sheriff's Department says the man told the deputy. "The lizard people are real!"

He said President Trump had called his house in Eatonville, warned about the lizard people and said the "alpha dragon" had taken his family hostage.

The man explained that he stopped at the Parkland intersection because the lizard people had surrounded him and because he needed to follow the president's directions to fight them.

He made a scene to attract the news media so "his story could be documented for history," the Sheriff's Department reported.

Medics were called and determined the man was "heavily under the influence of a stimulant," the Sheriff's Department said,

A deputy found a loaded AK-47 and a loaded .357-caliber pistol in the man's vehicle. There were five loaded magazines for the AK-47. Counting the extra magazines and the one in the rifle, there were 172 rounds, the Sheriff's Department says.
