GONE FOREVER IN THE
BLINK OF AN EYE
The Incredible Search
for Dr. Halsey
By Sean Casteel With Original Material by Michael X Barton
In 1965, renowned
researcher and author, Michael X. Barton, began a quest to find the
remains of one of his dearest friends, Dr. Wallace Halsey. A
respected UFO and occult researcher himself, Dr. Halsey had
disappeared two years earlier while flying a small plane from
Logan, Utah to Sunset Beach, California. Along with his flying
companion, Harry Ross, Halsey was presumed dead but, since no bodies or
wreckage had ever been found, Halsey's widow could not collect the
much-needed life insurance monies until seven years had passed.
This is one of the things that gave Barton a sense of mission...to
prove for legal reasons that Halsey and Ross had, indeed, died in a
plane crash enroute to California. But there was soon an added
dimension that spurred Michael Barton onward. He began to receive
strange messages through which the spirit of Halsey seemed to be
leading him to the exact location where the wreckage and bodies could
be found!
What follows is an inspiring story of courage, both physical and
psychic, as Michael Barton ventures into the desert and mountains
beyond, with the spirits of the dead and an aerial display of UFOs as
his guide!
GONE FOREVER IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE contains the full text of Michael
X. Barton’s 1965 book on the spiritual journey, THE INCREDIBLE SEARCH
FOR DR. HALSEY, as well as new material written by Sean Casteel that

WATCH OUT, THEY ARE WATCHING YOU DEPARTMENT -
Terror Database Has
Quadrupled In Four Years
U.S. Watch Lists Are Drawn From Massive Clearinghouse.
Each day, thousands of pieces of intelligence information from around
the world -- field reports, captured documents, news from foreign
allies and sometimes idle gossip -- arrive in a computer-filled office
in McLean, where analysts feed them into the nation's central list of
terrorists and terrorism suspects.
Called TIDE, for Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment, the list is
a storehouse for data about individuals that the intelligence community
believes might harm the United States. It is the wellspring for watch
lists distributed to airlines, law enforcement, border posts and U.S.
consulates, created to close one of the key intelligence gaps revealed
after Sept. 11, 2001: the failure of federal agencies to share what
they knew about al-Qaeda operatives.
But in addressing one problem, TIDE has spawned others. Ballooning from
fewer than 100,000 files in 2003 to about 435,000, the growing database
threatens to overwhelm the people who manage it. "The single biggest
worry that I have is long-term quality control," said Russ Travers, in
charge of TIDE at the National Counterterrorism Center in McLean.
"Where am I going to be, where is my successor going to be, five years
down the road?"
TIDE has also created concerns about secrecy, errors and privacy. The
list marks the first time foreigners and U.S. citizens are combined in
an intelligence database. The bar for inclusion is low, and once
someone is on the list, it is virtually impossible to get off it. At
any stage, the process can lead to "horror stories" of mixed-up names
and unconfirmed information, Travers acknowledged.
The watch lists fed by TIDE, used to monitor everyone entering the
country or having even a casual encounter with federal, state and local
law enforcement, have a higher bar. But they have become a source of
irritation -- and potentially more serious consequences -- for many
U.S. citizens and visitors.
In 2004 and 2005, misidentifications accounted for about half of the
tens of thousands of times a traveler's name triggered a watch-list
hit, the Government Accountability Office reported in September.
Congressional committees have criticized the process, some charging
that it collects too much information about Americans, others saying it
is ineffective against terrorists. Civil rights and privacy groups have
called for increased transparency.
"How many are on the lists, how are they compiled, how is the
information used, how do they verify it?" asked Lillie Coney, associate
director of the Washington-based Electronic Privacy Information Center.
Such information is classified, and individuals barred from traveling
are not told why.
Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) said last year that his wife had been
delayed repeatedly while airlines queried whether Catherine Stevens was
the watch-listed Cat Stevens. The listing referred to the Britain-based
pop singer who converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam.
The reason Islam is not allowed to fly to the United States is secret.
So is the reason Maher Arar, a Syrian-born Canadian, remains on the
State Department's consular watch list. Detained in New York while en
route to Montreal in 2002, Arar was sent by the U.S. government to a
year of imprisonment in Syria. Canada, the source of the initial
information about Arar, cleared him of all terrorism allegations last
September -- three years after his release -- and has since authorized
$9 million in compensation.
TIDE is a vacuum cleaner for both proven and unproven information, and
its managers disclaim responsibility for how other agencies use the
data. "What's the alternative?" Travers said. "I work under the
assumption that we're never going to have perfect information --
fingerprints, DNA -- on 6 billion people across the planet. . . . If
someone actually has a better idea, I'm all ears."
'Thousands of Messages'
The electronic journey a piece of terrorism data takes from an
intelligence outpost to an airline counter is interrupted at several
points for analysis and condensation.
President Bush ordered the intelligence community in 2003 to centralize
data on terrorism suspects, and U.S. agencies at home and abroad now
send everything they collect to TIDE. It arrives electronically as
names to be added or as additional information about people already in
the system.
The 80 TIDE analysts get "thousands of messages a day," Travers said,
much of the data "fragmentary," "inconsistent" and "sometimes just
flat-out wrong." Often the analysts go back to the intelligence
agencies for details. "Sometimes you'll get sort of corroborating
information," he said, "but many times you're not going to get much.
What we use here, rightly or wrongly, is a reasonable-suspicion
standard."
Each TIDE listee is given a number, and statistics are kept on
nationality and ethnic and religious groups. Some files include aliases
and sightings, and others are just a full or partial name, perhaps with
a sketchy biography. Sunni and Shiite Muslims are the fastest-growing
categories in a database whose entries include Saudi financiers and
Colombian revolutionaries. U.S. citizens -- who Travers said make up
less than 5 percent of listings -- are included if an "international
terrorism nexus" is established. A similar exception for the
administration's warrantless wiretap program came under court challenge
from privacy and civil rights advocates.
Information Sharing
Every night at 10, TIDE dumps an unclassified version of that day's
harvest -- names, dates of birth, countries of origin and passport
information -- into a database belonging to the FBI's Terrorist
Screening Center. TIDE's most sensitive information is not included.
The FBI adds data about U.S. suspects with no international ties for a
combined daily total of 1,000 to 1,500 new names.
Between 5 and 6 a.m., a shift of 24 analysts drawn from the agencies
that use watch lists begins a new winnowing process at the center's
Crystal City office. The analysts have access to case files at TIDE and
the original intelligence sources, said the center's acting director,
Rick Kopel.
Decisions on what to add to the Terrorist Screening Center master list
are made by midafternoon. The bar is higher than TIDE's; total listings
were about 235,000 names as of last fall, according to Justice
Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine. The bar is then raised
again as agencies decide which names to put on their own watch lists:
the Transportation Security Administration's "no-fly" and "selectee"
lists for airlines; Consular Lookout and Support System at the State
Department; the Interagency Border and Inspection System at the
Department of Homeland Security; and the Justice Department's National
Crime Information Center. The criteria each agency use are classified,
Kopel said.
Some information may raise a red flag for one agency but not another.
"There's a big difference between CLASS and no-fly," Kopel said,
referring to State's consular list. "About the only criteria CLASS has
is that you're not a U.S. person. . . . Say 'a Mohammed from Syria.'
That's useless for me to watch-list here in the United States. But if
I'm in Damascus processing visas . . . that might be enough for someone
to . . . put a hold on the visa process."
All of the more than 30,000 individuals on the TSA's no-fly list are
prohibited from entering an aircraft in the United States. People whose
names appear on the longer selectee list -- those the government
believes merit watching but does not bar from travel -- are supposed to
be subjected to more intense scrutiny.
With little to go on beyond names, airlines find frequent matches. The
screening center agent on call will check the file for markers such as
sex, age and prior "encounters" with the list. The agent might ask the
airlines about the passenger's eye color, height or defining marks,
Kopel said. "We'll say, 'Does he have any rings on his left hand?' and
they'll say, 'Uh, he doesn't have a left hand.' Okay. We know that [the
listed person] lost his left hand making a bomb."
If the answers indicate a match, that "encounter" is fed back into the
FBI screening center's files and ultimately to TIDE. Kopel said the
agent never tells the airline whether the person trying to board is the
suspect. The airlines decide whether to allow the customer to fly.
TSA receives thousands of complaints each year, such as this one
released to the Electronic Privacy Information Center in 2004 under the
Freedom of Information Act: "Apparently, my name is on some watch list
because everytime I fly, I get delayed while the airline personnel call
what they say is TSA," wrote a passenger whose name was blacked out.
Noting that he was a high-level federal worker, he asked what he could
do to remove his name from the list.
The answer, Kopel said, is little. A unit at the screening center
responds to complaints, he said, but will not remove a name if it is
shared by a terrorism suspect. Instead, people not on the list who
share a name with someone listed can be issued letters instructing
airline personnel to check with the TSA to verify their identity. The
GAO reported that 31 names were removed in 2005.
A Process Under Fire
A recent review of the entire Terrorist Screening Center database was
temporarily abandoned when it proved too much work even for the night
crew, which generally handles less of a workload. But the no-fly and
selectee lists are being scrubbed to emphasize "people we think are a
danger to the plane, and not for some other reason they met the
criteria," Kopel said.
A separate TSA system that would check every passenger name against the
screening center's database has been shelved over concern that it could
grow into a massive surveillance program. The Department of Homeland
Security was rebuked by Congress in December for trying to develop a
risk-assessment program to profile travelers entering and leaving the
United States based on airline and financial data.
Kopel insisted that private information on Americans, such as
credit-card records, never makes it into the screening center database
and that "we rely 100 percent on government-owned information."
The center came in for ridicule last year when CBS's "60 Minutes" noted
that 14 of the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers were listed -- five years after
their deaths. Kopel defended the listings, saying that "we know for a
fact that these people will use names that they believe we are not
going to list because they're out of circulation -- either because
they're dead or incarcerated. . . . It's not willy-nilly. Every name on
the list, there's a reason that it's on there."

STRANGE CREATURES FROM TIME AND SPACE DEPARTMENT -
Pennsylvania One of Top States for Bigfoot Sightings
Does Bigfoot exist?
The answer to that is still up for debate, but Pennsylvania ranks
fourth among states in the number of alleged sightings of the elusive
human-ape creature, members of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society said.
The claims were made during a program titled "Have You Seen Bigfoot?"
presented Saturday at Yellow Creek State Park by Friends of the Parks.
"I won't (necessarily) turn you into a believer, but I'll give you some
things to think about," said Eric Altman, director of the PBS, who,
with member Tim Cassidy, gave the presentation. They discussed the
history of Bigfoot, also called Sasquatch; how the creature got its
name; its supposed characteristics; and some alleged recent sightings
locally.
The PBS, Altman said, is "a group of volunteers … who investigate
sighting reports and go out in the field and try to collect evidence to
prove the existence of Bigfoot," Altman said.
And there seem to be few better places to do it than in Pennsylvania,
which ranks behind only California, Washington and Oregon in number of
Bigfoot sightings, Altman said.
"This seems to be a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings. If you want to look
for Bigfoot, you're in the right place," he said.
The group has about 75 members, 40 to 45 of whom Altman said are active
field researchers. Membership has been as high as 150 members - Altman
said it tends to fluctuate based on the number of sightings in the
area. He said there have been a number of sightings reported to the PBS
recently, including one March 17 in Derry Township, Westmoreland
County, which the PBS investigated Sunday.
Members of the PBS investigate reports submitted to them by phone and
at their Web site, www.pabigfootsociety.com. The best evidence, Altman
said, is hard evidence such as footprints, tracks, hair samples and
other evidence of an animal, rather than photos and videos, which are
easily faked.
A 1967 video clip by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin, taken in Bluff
Creek, Calif., is considered the "staple of evidence" among many
Bigfoot researchers, Altman said. However, his opinion is that the
footage is inconclusive. Several individuals have claimed they were
involved in the faking the video, but nothing has been proved
conclusively.
Because no conclusive physical evidence of the creature has ever been
found, "all that we have to really learn from is the evidence that we
are able to collect and the witness sighting reports we receive,"
Altman said.
He said the name "Bigfoot" came about in 1958, when a newspaper
published an account of a road crew in California who discovered and
made casts of large tracks of an unidentified animal around their work
site. Prior to this, it was called Sasquatch, which comes from a Native
American language, or simply a "wild man."
Based on sighting reports, Altman said Bigfoot is believed to be 7 to
12 feet tall and bipedal, and covered in hair other than on its face,
hands and the soles of its feet. It is thought to be nocturnal and
probably omnivorous and makes sounds including high-pitched shrieks,
whistles, grunts, growls and squeals. It is also thought to be able to
mimic other animals.
Some of those who report seeing the creature also report various types
of foul odors. Cassidy said he thinks the odor may be a pheromone that
induces a fight-or-flight response in humans.
Bigfoot is believed to roam in the United States - sightings have been
reported in every state except Rhode Island and Hawaii - and Canada,
although legends of similar creatures exist all over the world, Altman
said. In Pennsylvania alone, there have been more than 800 alleged
sightings since 1830. Even so, Altman said, Bigfoot is thought to be
relatively rare.
"Because the sightings are so rare and they're so sporadic, we'd like
to try to get this animal proven so it can be protected," Altman said.
Hypotheses about what the creature, if it exists, is are varied. Some
believe it is the "Missing Link" between humans and other primates;
others think it may be a descendant of another primate species that has
gone extinct, such as Gigantopithecus blacki, Paranthropus robustus or
Meganthropus. Still others think it could be an undiscovered primate
species or something else entirely, such as a pervasive hoax.
According to the PBS Web site, alleged sightings of Bigfoot have been
reported in White's Woods in White Township, as well as near Homer City
and in Brush Valley and Buffington Township.
Bigfoot research has historically been chiefly the domain of amateurs.
However, more mainstream researchers are beginning to pursue it,
boosting the odds that conclusive evidence will be found, Altman said.
Grover Krantz, a professor at Washington State University who died in
2002, and Jeffrey Meldrum of Idaho State University, are two such
researchers.
Recent Bigfoot sightings in western Pennsylvania have occurred in
Allison Park, Allegheny County, in Bell Township, Westmoreland County,
and, on March 17, in Derry Township, Westmoreland County. In the March
17 sighting, a man returning from a friend's house heard someone
speaking "in a high-pitched voice but sounding like complete jibberish"
as he left his car. The man's father said that the night before, he had
heard what sounded like a shrill scream. PBS members investigated the
sighting Sunday.
Based on the sightings, Cassidy said the creatures seem to be moving
through areas that aren't heavily populated.
Although Altman said he hasn't seen Bigfoot in field, he's been
interested in the creature since he was about 10, when he saw "The
Legend of Boggy Creek," a docudrama about a Bigfoot-type creature
thought to have been seen in Fouke, Ark. He did book, magazine and
newspaper research for years and got into field research around 1997,
when he was 27. The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society formed in 1999, and
Altman became director in 2001.
PBS members weren't the only ones interested in Bigfoot sightings. John
Lake, of Northern Cambria, brought pictures of some tracks in the snow
that he saw in January 2006 near his house. The tracks were about 16 to
17 inches long, about 8 inches wide and about 46 to 48 inches apart.
Lake said he's been interested in Bigfoot research "since day one," but
hasn't seen the creature itself.
"I didn't see him, and I don't want to see him," Lake said.

ANGELS OR ALIENS DEPARTMENT -
Ancient Gnostic Gospals Reveal
Reasons for ET Denial
Why does "mainstream" science continue to deny the historical and
on-going existence of Extraterrestrial contact with human beings on
Earth? Why do science programs on Television, and in other mass-media
fora like magazines, continue to maintain the apparent 'fiction' that
humanity is still in search for intelligent life in the universe beyond
Earth? With that in mind, as far as modern religion, why does
institutionalized Christianity correspondingly support this denial of
Extraterrestrial contact, as manifested in "UFOs"?
Extraterrestrial denial within Western science and Christianity,
manifests from a consciousness, in which human beings have been seduced
to pursue materialistic power and oppression against one another.
Gnostics suggest that this apparent seduction, has been amplified by
Manipulative Extraterrestrials which Gnostics had sought to help warn
humanity about.
The Bible itself in pre-translated forms, as presented by Biblical
scholars, actually contains specific warnings against these apparent
Manipulative Extraterrestrials, who have apparently sought to control,
exploit and oppress humanity, through mass-deception. However,
translated forms of the Bible, including the notable King James
Version, presumably directed by these reported manipulative entities,
excluded the explicit warnings.
For example, Ephesians 6:12 in the King James Version of the Bible,
used as a basis for more modern translations stipulates "For we wrestle
not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places." In sharp contrast a direct
uncensored translation from Greek according to Biblical scholars
indicates the following "For our struggle is not against [human
beings], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world
forces of this darkness, against the spiritual [dark forces] of
wickedness in outer space." - Ephesians 6:12 [the uncensored citation]
The acknowledgement of Extraterrestrial contact by Christianity and by
"mainstream" science in the now industrialized West, would elevate the
human consciousness in a manner that would empower humanity, relative
to prospective positive and negative implications of Extraterrestrial
presences. However, prevailing elites do not substantively seek to
empower humanity, in spite of the public relations allusions to wanting
the spread of "freedom" and "democracy".
Christianity and "mainstream" science in the West have evolved as
pillars of the maintenance of oppressive regimes, that substantively
seek to perpetuate 'Empire', rather than spread human rights .
Extraterrestrial denial in the industrialized West is a phenomenon of
capitalist society, where elites seek to maintain their status, by
repressing critical knowledge which would lead to a society freed of
elitist oppression. Capitalism, flourishes by maintaining greed driven
commercial profits, based upon enforcing societal ignorance, that
prevents the public from getting access to knowledge which might
"dampen profits" from "consumer" demands. Maintaining ignorance about
Extraterrestrials has become inextricably linked to the dysfunctional
evolution and maintenance of an oppressive system of capitalism which
thrives alongside individual ignorance.
Christianity was created by elites, and in the guise of spreading the
message of God, was executed to spread Empire through the creation of
an elite-driven religious bureaucracy. Christianity was the tool that
Romans, and other Empires since then, have used to pacify and oppress
"the masses".
Western "science" became the secular mechanism used by the 'Empires' of
the West, to correspondingly oppress the masses through the development
of destructive technologies associated with a
political-military-industrial complex, and through manipulated
"official" pools of knowledge. These highly managed pools of knowledge
are under elite ownership. These managed pools of knowledge are also
collusively directed in the capitalist system, through formal
educational systems, broad socialization, and interconnected mass-media
organizations from television to the print media.
In reality, the spreaders of Christianity and "mainstream" science in
the evolution of the industrialized West were pursuing a collective
agenda, to maintain oppressive power, which required denying
Extraterrestrial contact. The apparent conflict between "religion" and
science, is a managed conflict and is a mass deception strategy through
political theatre, which is orchestrated to give the appearance of an
uncontrolled and critical debate. In reality, both sides of that debate
are controlled by the same confederacy of elites, who are linked to the
joint pursuit of 'Empire', through the opportunistic use of religion
and science under capitalism. Those seek to oppress "the masses", and
to subvert a critical empowering awareness of the humanity identity in
the Universe, relative to Extraterrestrials.
Revealing an Extraterrestrial presence by modern science and
institutionalized Christianity, would inspire a Gnostic-like awakening,
including a re-appreciation of the human identity in relation to God.
Indeed, ancient Gnostics appeared to view the God associated with the
evolution of Christian dogma as a "false God", created under the
influence of what was referred to as the Manipulative Extraterrestrials
associated with the Old Testament (and other religious systems
cultivated by repressive Empires on Earth. These reportedly include the
gods of pre-"Christian" Rome, and Egypt), and other such
religious-based oppressive Empires.
Gnostics appear to view God as the original creative consciousness of
our Universe, associated with Free Will. 'Aeons' were the messengers of
God, manifested through enlightened Ethical Extraterrestrial contact on
Earth. In contrast, the 'Archons' were the "fallen angels" which had
also been originally created by God, but through Free Will, chose to
rebel against God, by choosing a greed-driven path which sought to
conquer this Universe. It appears that these "fallen angels" became
what Gnostic referred to as 'demons' influenced by "lower dimensional
density" Extraterrestrials from outside of this Universe. The elements
of these apparent de-evolved Manipulative Extraterrestrial "demonic
consciousnesses" sought to attract to other "hideous intelligences"
through this universe, which apparently included those on Earth. In so
doing, the collectives of these negative consciousness, sought to
enslave planetary Civilizations with the use of co-operating elites
from the Civilization. The result of this collusion would be eventual
enslavement of sentient beings and total planetary environmental
destruction from over-exploitation.
In the apparent Gnostic view, Manipulative Extraterrestrials or
'demons', are beings from a physical from a "lower dimensional density"
referred to in a Biblical context as "Hell". In other words, in the
apparent Gnostic view, these 'demons' are literally beings from "Hell"
which seek to take away destroy the God-driven souls of beings, through
predatory materialistic seduction, and if necessary, outright coercion
in their drive for 'ego' not bounded by ethical considerations
connected with God.
Gnostics appear to recognize a now manifested conflict in the universe
between sentient beings in a universe of Free Will, who have chosen a
path of empathy with God, as compared to those beings associated with
"demonic consciousness". Gnostics conceive of a demonic consciousness
which in an apparent agenda to conquer our universe, seeks to
malevolently seduce and eventually rob souls, which carries the spirit
of God.
Earth has become somewhat of a microcosm of that conflict, in which
notions of "good", and "evil" in the form of so-called "sin" have been
appropriated by "demonic consciousnesses", for their own purposes.
It is apparent that a "demonic consciousness" through the so-called
"War on Terror", seeks to manipulate the public perception of the will
of the apparent emissaries of demons to male them seem as being "good";
and to label seekers of peace, critical knowledge, and social justice
in the spirit of God, as being "evil".
This apparent demonic consciousness seeks to dis-orient humanity into
apparent service to predatory 'demonic entities', that reportedly
thrive from the manifestations of 'negative energy' created by the
hideous intelligences on Earth that artificially create, war, violence,
and racism.
Extraterrestrial denial, is a societal psychosis in Western society
which is aimed at the concealment of the apparent "demonic"
consciousnesses, which now drives Western capitalism throughout the
world through "Globalization". Indeed, theologist Dr. David Ray Griffin
directly referred to this apparent "demonic" consciousness, as having
motivated apparent neo-conservative 9/11 ambitions, and other schemes
of global oppression.
David Ray Griffin specifically says that the "attacks of 9/11 were
products of "demonic consciousness", with "the demonic" understood as
an emergent reality that is diametrically opposed to the creative power
of the universe and strong enough to threaten its purposes. "
To explain how demonic power can arise in a monotheistic universe,
Professor Griffin uses the philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, with
some help from Carl Jung. Then to explain how demonic evil arose
historically, David Ray Griffin employs ideas from Andrew Bard
Schmookler's Parable of the Tribes. Extraterrestrial denial also serves
to frustrate the spread of messages by Ethical Extraterrestrial beings,
like apparently Jesus, and other spiritual messengers, who sought to
inspire the liberation of humanity from influence by "demonic
consciousnesses".
These "demonic consciousnesses" in the apparent view of the ancient
Gnostics sought to pursue an apparent agenda of coercion and mass
deception through blinding dogma. This blinding dogma is designed to
mislead humanity away from understanding the God as the eternal light
of being from within humanity, as manifested in part, by Mother Nature.
Religious dogma further misleads humanity into believing in "religious
saviours".
By creating "religious saviours" as expressed in the apparent
corrupting of the legacy of Jesus through 'Christianity', elites sought
to dis-empower social responsibility among humanity for each other, in
the context of social justice, and to turn them into people having
"faith" in the guidance of society under oppressive elites.
The consciousness of Manipulative Extraterrestrials seeks to repress
vital spiritual knowledge associated with acknowledging the existence
of historical and on-going Extraterrestrial contact with humans.
Manipulative Extraterrestrials apparently deploy, in the very
emissaries which seek to oppress humanity, the use of controlling
dogma, and "faith" among the masses.
Gnostic warnings
Ancient versions of the Bible once contained warnings about
Manipulative Extraterrestrials, and also acknowledgements of the
inspiring messages of Ethical Extraterrestrials cited by the Gnostics.
The clique which sought to hijack the legacy of Jesus, in order to form
a "Christian religion", based around the Bible as its principal text,
sought to ban messages, which Gnostics recognized.
This clique, sought to ban these messages, and to create a dogma which
could be used to dis-empower "the masses". In the process, this clique
wanted to create dogma which would complement their pursuit of power,
within the framework of what the Gnostics represent as an oppressive
"false God".
Jesus and other messengers as seeking to liberate humanity from the Old
Testament "false God"
One of the most sensational ideas of the Gnostics, is that Jehovah, the
Father God of the Judeo-Christian religion, was an Archon, or more
specifically, an impostor deity, not to be confused with the true
messengers of God, called Aeons, who inhabit the cosmic centre
(galactic core).
"Jehovah is said to be blind and mad, a demented alien who nevertheless
has some god-like powers. Although he does not create the world we
inhabit, he believes that he does. "Opening his eyes, the chief Archon
saw a vast quantity of matter without limit, and he became arrogant,
saying, "It is I who am God, and there is no other power apart from
me.' " (The Reality of the Archons, NHC II, 4, 94.20). Of course, this
is exactly what Yahweh-Jehovah says in the Old Testament.
Yahweh-Jehovah could be viewed to embody as consciousness of
materialism, related to self-absorbed venality, ego ,which separates
humanity from appreciating their spiritual essence and vitality."
Fortunately, the Nag Hammadi cache, meagre as it is, contains quite a
lot of clear information on the Archon God and his insidious tactics.
In the Second Treatise of the Great Seth, an unnamed Gnostic Master
says, "The Archons devised a plan about me, to release their error and
their absurdity."
This line recalls Jacque Vallee's pithy comment on alien strategies in
Messengers of Deception: "The way to a man's belief is through
confusion and absurdity." Accordingly, "the Archons induce a false plan
of salvation into the human mind as counterfeit of the true path of
self-liberation we can take by developing our innate potential of Nous,
"divine intelligence." The denial of Extraterrestrial contact with
humans by elites, is indeed an absurdity, with an apparent context of
mass deception.
The Gnostic teacher, called Phoster or Illuminator, "openly ridicules
Abraham, Moses and the prophets for accepting the 'Archons' as divine
and putting faith in an impostor god who works against humanity. The
Second Treatise says that the "doctrine of the aliens" is "a great
deception upon the human soul, making it impossible for humans to find
Nous, the self-liberating mind, and thus come to know true humanity."
The "doctrine of the aliens" as encompassing Christianity, Judaism, and
Islam
What Gnostics meant by "the Doctrine of the Aliens" is the ensemble of
beliefs at the core of Judaic and Christian religion — and, by
extension, Islam. All three of the "great world religions" derive from
the revered Patriarch Abraham, (thought to have lived around 1800 BCE).
Because the history of the ancient Hebrews is taken as exemplary or
symbolic of humanity as a whole, our species' "sacred history" begins
with Abraham, but Gnostics considered that Abraham was a dupe, the
psychological "vector" for the intrusion of the Archons. In effect,
Gnostics articulately and critically trashed the notion of a “Divine
Plan” overseen by Jehovah, and exposed Judeo-Christian salvationism
(the Redeemer Complex) as an extraterrestrial religious ideological
system, alien to the Earth and hostile to human potential. Indeed,
according to these scholars, in the compilation of the Bible, words
like 'messenger', referring to alien messengers were changed to
'angel', and words like 'sky', referring to Jesus coming from the sky
and outer space were changed to 'heaven' in order to confuse and
manipulate the masses around religious dogma managed by oppressive
clerical elites, as emissaries to "Mammon".
According to these critical historians, biblical texts critically
reveal the spiritual, economic and political oppression of human beings
to be the work of "evil alien gods allied with earthly rulers." It is
this "elemental human struggle against malevolent alien guided
superpowers that is a central theme of the Bible [uncensored texts
associated with the Bible]." Apparent ethically guided time-travelling
Extraterrestrials appear to have sought to avoid the undermining and
self-destruction of human civilizations by what are apparent Archon
alien cults, called "religions".
The Gnostics were a group which sought to resist the attempts by
apparent manipulative Extraterrestrials to use the creation of
institutionalized religions like Christianity, to deceive "the masses".
The Gnostics "present a complete and coherent description of the origin
and methods of an inorganic predatory species called 'Archons'."
Religious manipulators responded to Gnostic resistance by trying to
take over Gnostic philosophy, with the imposing of a complementing
system of elitist dogma.
What is the source of Gnostic teachings? Gnosis, which is a Greek word,
"is by definition a matter of knowing and not of believing. It is about
enlightenment, not faith." To seek out and attempt to evaluate and
appreciate Gnostic accumulated knowledge and teachings is only the
first step toward prospective critical enlightenment. Beyond that, we
must confirm what they knew by our own resources, our own faculties.
This is the perennial challenge of Gnosis, the living, ever-renewing
cognition of the human spirit."
The experience of "Gnosis" reveals to the initiated the divine spark
within, which inspired as appreciation of God, that expresses itself
human sprit within us, and in the awe and beauty of nature around us.
Gnostics could be viewed to be a form of scientist, free of the
corresponding dogma of much of today's prevailing corporate controlled
scientific community, and who use those critical sensibilities to
appreciate the complexity of reality, which holistically integrates
appreciating the human spirit.
Although Gnostic texts describe firsthand encounters with 'Archons' who
"abduct souls by night", "their teachings do not emphasize physical
threat. Rather, they warn that the Archons affect us most profoundly in
our minds, especially through religious ideology, through beliefs about
God and what God wants for us."
Gnostic disciples of Jesus do not deny the existence of
Extraterrestrials like modern priests and ministers today. On the
contrary, Gnostics not only acknowledge the existence of
Extraterrestrials, including in particular, manipulative
Extraterrestrials, but prescribe a method of defence. This defence
prescribed against manipulative 'Archon' Extraterrestrials is cited in
'A Gnostic Catechism' and the commentary on the "First Apocalypse of
James", Text 9 in the Nag Hammadi Reading Plan.
The image of Jesus was not only transformed into being a "saviour", but
also racially transformed to complement the image of the oppressors.
Jesus, who had been represented as being a black Jew by early disciples
of Jesus, was transformed into to being a 'white' Jew by modern
Christianity, in order to complement the "whiteness" of colonial
masters, who sought to conquer Africa and elsewhere, in behalf of an
apparent "demonic consciousness". In so doing, an apparent "demonic
consciousness" sought to further appropriate the image of Jesus, toward
a Euro-centric racist messianic message.
In the apparent Gnostic view, Churches within Christianity, represent
manifestations of materialism to a "false God", created through the
deception of Manipulative Extraterrestrials which sought to deceive
humanity into worshipping them.
Gnostic wisdom suggests that the "true" God of the universe is
manifested in the pursuit of a consciousness associated with wisdom,
peace, and love, and also on Earth by Mother Nature or 'Sophia'.
Native-Canadians and other indigenous peoples throughout the world who
carry ancient spiritual wisdoms associated with an empathy of God, have
been and continue to be subjected to genocide by an apparent demonic
consciousness which embodies in the apparent Gnostic view, a "false
God".
This apparent "false God" is an apparent "demonic" deception, that aims
to repress vital indigenous knowledge, which would liberate humanity
from oppression.
Manipulative Extraterrestrials apparently seduced many humans away from
warning humanity, by using ego-driven promises of helping them achieve
"unlimited power" to elites on their planet, through the pursuit of
greed, and technologies which could enforce social control on their
planet.
It is apparent that Jesus along with other spiritual messengers of a
consciousness of God, sought to spread a message that human beings are
all sons and daughters of God, and should treat each other accordingly.
Jesus was not a specific seeker of religious deification. Instead,
apparently according to Gnostic-inspired banned Biblical references,
mischievous elites under the apparent influence of Manipulative
Extraterrestrials, sought to "deify" Jesus to further execute an agenda
of religious havoc on Earth.
Therefore, the very efforts of Ethical Extraterrestrials to inspire an
empowering human inner-spirituality, was apparently hijacked, by
apparently falsely labelling Jesus as a "saviour", by the very
Manipulative Extraterrestrial influences which Ethical
Extraterrestrials sought to countervail. In a Gnostic appreciative
context, in association with broad elite social control, people were
cajoled into believing in the idea of being "saved", and then accepted
into "heaven" by following the dogma laid out by religious elites.
Gnostics seem to suggest that Ethical Extraterrestrial "messengers"
were time-travellers from a future space-time continuum who came to
warn humanity on Earth of a path of oppression under the influence of
Manipulative Extraterrestrials. These Ethical Extraterrestrials sought
to apparently free humanity from religions systems created under the
apparent influence of Manipulative Extraterrestrials that sought to
deceive and oppress humanity.
Gnostics sought to inspire knowledge of God, which encompassed a
knowledge of both Ethical and Manipulative Extraterrestrials.
Manipulative Extraterrestrials along with humans seeking to advance
their own greed-driven power agenda, sought to keep knowledge of God
away from "the masses". In the apparent view of Gnostics, these elites
sought to repress this vital and empowering knowledge, through apparent
Manipulative Extraterrestrial mass-deception techniques associated with
the spread of dogma through "religion", and the parallel spreading of
'atheistic science'.
The Old Testament of the Bible presents human beings as having been
created in the image of God. Critical awareness of the diversity of
Extraterrestrials created by a cosmic awareness of God reveals that
Genesis is apparently inaccurate. Indeed, ancient Gnostics suggest that
Genesis which embraced the Old Testament story of "Adam and Eve" is a
creation myth originating from highly advanced Human Extraterrestrials.
It is alleged that these Human Extraterrestrials sought to be worshiped
as God, or 'gods', and saw humanity as some kind of interesting science
project.
Dr. David Ray Griffin, consistent with ancient Gnostics, also has
written that the on-going execution of environmental destruction on
Earth which includes Global Warming is also the apparent result of the
intrusion of "demonic consciousnesses".
Gnostics having viewed the Earth itself as an environmental sacred
feminine-like womb, referred to as 'Sophia' for the prospective
spiritual maturation of humanity, present such environmental
destruction to be tantamount to defiling God, under the apparent
guidance of Manipulative Extraterrestrials that correspondingly seek to
exploit Earth.
Religion as essentially societally acceptable cult groups and
"official" science, under capitalism, are being used within that
capitalist system, in the march toward "Economic Globalization", and a
"New World Order". Religion and "official" science are also being both
used to work against different levels of the human consciousness and
thereby to repress vital Human Development. Gnostics suggest that
appreciating God is a process of accumulating vital quality-of-survival
related knowledge, through critical observation, and is not about
"blind faith".
Having "blind faith" is the inculcation of self-imposed ignorance,
which does not bring humanity closer to God, as presented by
manipulative elites in fascistic religious organizations. Instead, in
the apparent view of the Gnostics, such "faith", is orchestrated to
move humanity further away from God, so that humanity can be "jerked
around" by hideous intelligences.
In contrast, Gnostics recognize the critical pursuit of an appreciation
of God to be essentially a "scientific exercise". Gnostics appear to
appreciate understanding the complexity of reality, which empowers
humanity through critical knowledge of the universe, requires
scientific study, inclusive of spiritual phenomenon.
In the apparent view of Gnostics, Christianity and official "science",
are created around a prism of Western dogma, which requires the denial
of Extraterrestrials. In the apparent view of ancient Gnostics, that
denial is fostered, in order to perpetuate ignorance of God; and that
in turn, is used to enforce systems of oppression jointly perpetuated
by science and Christianity.

PULLING THE WOOL OVER OUR EYES DEPARTMENT -
Scientists Create A Sheep That's
15% Human
Scientists have created the world's first human-sheep chimera - which
has the body of a sheep and half-human organs.
The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells -
and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being
transplanted into humans one step closer.
Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven
years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves
injecting adult human cells into a sheep's foetus.
He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of
human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a
transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own
flock of sheep.
The process would involve extracting stem cells from the donor's bone
marrow and injecting them into the peritoneum of a sheep's foetus. When
the lamb is born, two months later, it would have a liver, heart, lungs
and brain that are partly human and available for transplant.
"We would take a couple of ounces of bone marrow cells from the
patient,' said Prof Zanjani, whose work is highlighted in a Channel 4
programme tomorrow.
"We would isolate the stem cells from them, inject them into the
peritoneum of these animals and then these cells would get distributed
throughout the metabolic system into the circulatory system of all the
organs in the body. The two ounces of stem cell or bone marrow cell we
get would provide enough stem cells to do about ten foetuses. So you
don't just have one organ for transplant purposes, you have many
available in case the first one fails."
At present 7,168 patients are waiting for an organ transplant in
Britain alone, and two thirds of them are expected to die before an
organ becomes available.
Scientists at King's College, London, and the North East Stem Cell
Institute in Newcastle have now applied to the HFEA, the Government's
fertility watchdog, for permission to start work on the chimeras.
But the development is likely to revive criticisms about scientists
playing God, with the possibility of silent viruses, which are harmless
in animals, being introduced into the human race.
Dr Patrick Dixon, an international lecturer on biological trends,
warned: "Many silent viruses could create a biological nightmare in
humans. Mutant animal viruses are a real threat, as we have seen with
HIV."
Animal rights activists fear that if the cells get mixed together, they
could end up with cellular fusion, creating a hybrid which would have
the features and characteristics of both man and sheep. But Prof
Zanjani said: "Transplanting the cells into foetal sheep at this early
stage does not result in fusion at all."

THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT DEPARTMENT -
What the Devil?
Whether he exists or not, Satan is very much with us - and the fight
against him can turn people into the most evil monsters.
The Devil gave the apple to Eve and offered Jesus the world. He's
Lucifer or Satan - or Shaitan to Muslims, created out of smokeless
fire. He made a pact with Faust, struck a heroic pose in Paradise Lost
and went down to the crossroads to give Robert Johnson the blues. He
rode a tank and held a general's rank while the Blitzkrieg raged and
the bodies stank, if you believe the Rolling Stones. But what he
absolutely does not do is make money from Pampers.
That is official now, after a court in America ordered four men to pay
£10m in damages for spreading the notion that Procter &
Gamble - which makes the nappies, among many other household products -
gave its profits to Satan. The ruling was made in Salt Lake City last
week after a 12-year legal battle that saw the company trying to save
its reputation in the face of mass boycotts by Christians.
"We incurred hundreds of millions of dollars in lost sales over the
years because of this rumour," Terry Loftus of P&G said, denying
accusations that the lawsuit was a vindictive overreaction. "It was
absolutely necessary for us to take aggressive action."
If you're thinking "only in America", then consider this: some of the
Christians who stopped buying Pampers and Pringles over the years were
British. There are 1.2 million evangelicals in this country, most of
whom believe the Devil is a real creature intent on destroying
humanity, and a few thought he might be trying to do it through the
contents of their cupboards. And the Church of Satan, which was said to
be getting the money, has members here, including a sailor in the Royal
Navy and a friendly 39-year-old locksmith from Uttoxeter called Mark
Bickley, who says: " It's amazing how many people believe in the Devil."
Rumours about P&G started in the Sixties, when American Christians
began to take exception to a company logo showing a bearded and horned
man surrounded by 13 stars. This was said to be a perversion of the
passage in the Book of Revelations that describes "a woman clothed with
the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of
12 stars." The stars in the company logo supposedly spelled out 666,
the number of the beast.
Despite denying it all, P&G dropped the logo in 1985. But a second
false story then emerged in 1994 - that the P&G president had told
a live TV show the company gave money to Satanists.
Randy Hauger, agent for a rival firm, recorded a message on his
business voicemail repeating this rumour and it was forwarded by three
colleagues. P& G started legal action, but it took until last week
for a court to order the men to pay up.
The number of people who registered as Satanists at the last UK census
was 1,500, but belief in the Devil is far more widespread than that.
Surveys repeatedly show that one in three of us thinks he exists in
some form. The Great Deceiver has even enlisted Jeffrey Archer to his
cause: the fallen Tory angel is publishing a book in defence of the
disciple whom Jesus called "a devil" for betraying him: The Gospel
According to Judas.
It was Satan who made Eunice Spry beat her foster children and force
them to drink their own vomit, she said. As the P&G case was
finishing in the States, Bristol Crown Court found the 62-year-old
Jehovah's Witness guilty of actual bodily harm, child cruelty and
unlawful wounding. One boy, now grown up, said he was starved or
force-fed his own excrement. His hand was held on an electric hob until
it looked like "a gooey mess". Spry told the children she was doing it
because they were possessed by the Devil.
"Beating the Devil out of the child" is a phrase police heard many
times while investigating the 47 cases of child abuse detailed in a
government report last year. The most high-profile was that of Victoria
Climbié. The victims were mostly in London, in families newly
arrived from other countries, and Christian, although Muslims were
involved too.
Typically the child had something different about them: epilepsy,
autism, deafness or a stammer; even sleepwalking or bed-wetting. In
three cases the victims were just exceptionally bright. For whatever
reason, the boy or girl was said to be under the control of an evil
spirit, and responses ranged from prayer to violence, burning or even
rubbing chilli peppers on the genitals. So the fear of an evil force
that might have been imaginary led to behaviour that was brutal and
real, and could be called evil. In that sense the Devil works like a
terrorist: he doesn't have to do much or even be there at all for the
fear of attack to cause havoc and oppression.
But does he exist? The Church of England is not quite sure. Most
members see him as a myth or symbol of evil, but a policy document says
"others believe in Satan as a personal devil and, although accepting
Christ's victory on the cross, think that Satan has not yet been
finally banished and that the church therefore has a duty to confront
his activity". There are still official exorcists in the CofE, but they
won't talk about it.
There is no such coyness at the Vatican, where the Pope's chief
exorcist, Father Gabriele Amorth, is said to have cast out 30,000
demons. "Of course the Devil exists, and he can not only possess a
single person but also groups and entire populations," such as the
Nazis, he said last year. "You can tell by their behaviour and their
actions ... and the atrocities committed on their orders. That's why we
need to defend society from demons."
Most evangelicals would agree, said Dr Justin Thacker, head of theology
for the Evangelical Alliance. "The traditional understanding is that he
is a fallen angel who decided to go against the will of God. There is a
legion of demons in the world who seek to influence human behaviour, to
get us to do what is wrong."
You might expect Peter H Gilmore to believe in the Devil. He is, after
all, High Priest of the Church of Satan. But in an email from its HQ in
Hell's Kitchen (Satanists have a flair for the theatrical), New York,
he writes: " Satanists are atheists and believe in neither God nor the
Devil. Nor do we believe in heaven or hell. Satan serves as a symbol of
pride, liberty and individualism."
The idea, apparently, is to emulate rather than worship him while
tapping the "reservoir of power" that is the Dark Force inside us all.
Members of the church founded by the so-called Black Pope, Anton LaVey,
are said to have included the singer Marilyn Manson and, in the early
days, the Hollywood bombshell Jayne Mansfield. Another is Leading Hand
Chris Cranmer, who registered his beliefs while on board HMS Cumberland
two years ago. He told his captain he adhered to the church's creed,
which says Satan represents indulgence, vengeance and "all the
so-called sins, as they lead to physical, mental or emotional
gratification".
The Devil really is in the detail then: The Satanic Bible on a sailor's
bunk; the scars on the face of a young girl that Eunice Spry rubbed
with sandpaper; the crimson card in the wallet of a locksmith from
Staffordshire. Mark Bickley looks a bit of an old-school punk-goth, but
the UK spokesman for the Church of Satan lives "a normal life, in a
normal house, with a car and a girlfriend". Being polite to your
neighbours is a way of getting what you want, according to a church
text, which must help if you're trying to live a quietly prosperous
Satanic life in Uttoxeter (although other writings suggest members lie
to confuse people as much as possible, and destroy any neighbour who
gets in their way).
It seems ironic to hear a Satanist dismiss the 20m Britons who believe
in Lucifer as deluded, but Mr Bickley rejects their "superstition". And
having been brought up in a Pentecostal home, he thinks he knows
exactly who is to blame. "The church has done the damage. As Nietzsche
said: 'In its quest to find the world evil, Christianity has rendered
the world evil.'"

IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER DEPARTMENT -
Reality’s Different Levels
or Dimensions
Have you wondered why some people cannot believe in the existence of a
nonphysical world even though they may have encounters with nonphysical
beings?
I remember a friend who saw the ghost of his father in his living room
after the father’s burial. The ghost smiled then disappeared.
My friend, a highly rational and skeptical man, could not believe he
saw his father’s spirit because he did not believe in ghosts. He
dismissed the incident as just a product of his own imagination.
“Maybe I just missed my father, and so my mind created and projected an
image of him. But he wasn’t really there,” he said.
Others dismiss ghosts and other nonphysical entities because of
religious bias. The Christian religion teaches that when a person dies,
his/her spirit goes to heaven, purgatory or hell and, therefore, cannot
return to earth. “Whatever is seen is the devil’s work, or a product of
one’s imagination.”
The great English essayist and thinker Sir Francis Bacon pointed out
that once a person adopted a point of view or opinion agreeable to
him/her, he/she would do everything to preserve that belief. Even if
there were better reasons to believe otherwise, he/she would make
distinctions or rationalizations so that the original opinion or belief
remained intact.
I see examples of this tendency of the human mind quite often.
I once accompanied an American science writer to see our faith healers
(psychic surgeons) at work. He saw the healer open the body of a
patient with his bare hands, take out diseased tissues or blood clots,
and close the opening without any trace of the procedure.
The American watched all this at close range and took lots of pictures.
When the process was over, the writer slumped on a chair in a state of
shock. I was talking to him but he did not hear anything. He just sat
there staring blankly. His wife gave him water to drink. Afterwards he
said to me, “I see it, but I don’t believe it!”
When his article came out in Omni Magazine, sister publication of
Penthouse, he declared that the whole process of bare-handed psychic
surgery was completely fraudulent. But he could not explain how
Filipino faith healers did the trickery in front of him.
“The hand is faster than the eyes.” He believed what was taken from the
patient’s body, the tissues or blood clots, or whatever they were, were
hidden cleverly in the hands of the healer and did not really come from
the patient’s body.
This is still the opinion on psychic surgery of majority of western
investigators. “It’s simply sleight-of-hand or trickery.”
Different dimensions
But I think there is another explanation why some people cannot believe
in ghosts, elementals, psychic powers and other paranormal events. It
has something to do with different levels or dimensions of reality.
We have, on the one hand, our common, day-to-day type of reality, which
neuro-scientist Lawrence Le Shan calls Ordinary Reality. But there is
another way of perceiving the world, what Le Shan calls Clairvoyant
Reality.
The problem is that people using ordinary perception do not and cannot
see other levels of reality. Thus, they cannot believe it exists. To
“see” spirits and ghosts, or experience a supernatural event, one must
somehow be in an altered state of consciousness.
I think the basic problem lies in the insistence of materialist science
that there is only one level or dimension of reality, the physical
world. All the rest are illusions or imaginary. So they label
supernatural stories “fairy tales.”
Commonly held or accepted beliefs are difficult to change. There was a
time when everybody believed that the sun revolved around the earth,
until Galileo proved it was the other way around.
But since that view was considered not only unscientific but, worse,
heretical from an ecclesiastical standpoint, Church authorities forced
him to retract his statement or be burned at the stake. He reluctantly
retracted under duress but he reportedly murmured, “But it (the earth)
still moves.”
Mexican shamans, whom anthropologist Carlos Castañeda wrote
about in his fascinating books (beginning with “The Teachings of Don
Juan”), say there are two ways of looking at reality, Tonal and the
Nagual.
The Tonal corresponds to Le Shan’s Ordinary Reality and the Nagual to
Clairvoyant Reality. A person in the Ordinary Reality cannot see
anything beyond the physical world. But, in the Nagual mode, he/she can
see the unseen, or what ordinary eyes cannot see.
Psychics, mystics, and holy men and women of all countries from ancient
times to the present have attested to this fact.

THE ART OF NOISE DEPARTMENT -
Hum Thing Spooky is
Happening Here
A leading paranormal investigator is to use the science of sound in a
bid to shatter the spooky reputation of an Old Town tourist attraction.
Dr Ciaran O'Keeffe, a "parapsychologist" on Living TV's Most Haunted,
will attempt to prove that low-frequency noises are responsible for
ghostly goings on in Mary King's Close, as opposed to paranormal
activity.
The experiment will be the showcase event of this year's Ghost Fest -
the annual festival of all things spooky that will take place in May.
Dr O'Keeffe and a team of investigators from Liverpool will lay pipes
around the underground close that will emit "infrasound" frequencies
below 20Hz - on the cusp of human perception.
They will then invite members of the public to report any unusual
experiences during a brief tour of the attraction to see if paranormal
events occur more often in the areas where the infrasound is being
generated.
Speaking from his offices at the University of Paris, Dr O'Keeffe said
he was excited about the experiment, the first detailed study of the
phenomenon at the attraction. He said: "Low frequency sound is
legendary - from military weapons to the tiger's roar and now to
haunted houses. This event hopes to uncover some of the truth behind
the legends.
"The infrasound generator was specially built for the experiments.
We're not sure how people will react or if anyone will report a ghostly
presence, but it is what will make the event so exciting."
The experiment comes just a few years after experts examined the close
and discovered that two areas which had been identified as the most
haunted had naturally-occurring low frequency sound in them. Since
then, paranormal investigators have speculated whether the sound may be
responsible for unusual or ghostly experiences at the attraction.
Dr O'Keeffe's investigation will be just one of the highlights of the
ghost festival, which organisers are hailing as the biggest and best to
be staged in Edinburgh.
Now in its third year, the ten-day showcase will see the return of
scientists, physics and investigators who are aiming to scour the city
for proof of the Capital's spooky legends. Among the other events will
be overnight vigils at the underground vaults below Niddry Street and
Blair Street as well as clairvoyant gatherings, storytelling sessions,
tarot nights, a psychic fair and a bus tour of haunted Midlothian.
A team of experts investigating the effects of Electronic Voice
Phenomenon - or "white noise" - will also stage experiments at Mary
King's Close, the vaults and an old schoolhouse in the grounds of the
Camera Obscura.
A spokeswoman for the festival, which was shortlisted for a national
Scottish Thistle Award last year, said: "We are very excited about this
year's Ghost Fest, which is shaping up to be the biggest and best. We
have a host of new events and new locations which we hope will be more
than enough to keep avid ghost hunters or the most hardened of sceptics
happy."
The third annual Ghost Fest will take place from May 11-20.
