UMMO AND THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL PAPERS
IS THERE AN ALIEN PRESENCE ON EARTH?

It all began during the summer of 1993 when one night Tony had a close encounter with a strange UFO behind his house. Tony never saw the UFO again, However, two days later his life was to change abruptly when he began to receive a series of mysterious messages in his mailbox that were delivered without a return address.

"The first letter stated that the individual writing to me knew all about my low-level UFO sighting and indicated that he was actually on board the craft at the time of the encounter. He said that by picking up on my vibrations they were able to tell that I was not a threat to their continuing operations in my area and that, basically, I was a kind person at heart -- one that really cared about other people and wished to see those around me prosperous and live a life of harmony with what they called the laws of creation."

Over a period of time, Tony has received numerous letters, all of which seem to indicate an alien
presence on Earth. "It's as if they are living amongst us -- know our trouble and are able to offer
advice on the subject that matter to us the most."

While the messages received from "MR X" may be delivered by his friendly rural mail carrier in
an ordinary manner, this not the first time that such unusual -- and apparently otherworldly - communications have come through the postal system. In Spain the most famous of all UFO incidents involves a highly classified group of ETs from the planet UMMO who have established
bases here as far back as the 1950s and have contained several outstanding researchers to reveal their existence on our planet. Gordon Creighton and Antonio Ribera provide a unique look at this extraordinary race of aliens who even posed for the camera with their planet of origin clearly designated on the body of the craft for all to see.

This is one of the most amazing UFO/ET episodes of all time and all the evidence and documents are presented here in English for the first time, as well as the complete testimony of Tony in Canada who underwent a similar dramatic experience as outlined above.

If you order right now, you will also receive a FREE DVD where a NASA Mission Control Specialist spills the beans on Bob Lazar, Area 51, Gulf Breeze and other UFO and government conspiracies. UFOs and VITAMIN C - Linus Pauling's Flying Saucer Secret
By Anthony Bragalia

Nobel Prize winner Dr. Linus Pauling -physicist, chemist and controversial advocate of Vitamin C therapy- was a secret UFO researcher who authored intriguing confidential studies on the flying saucer phenomena. Recently acquired information also reveals that Pauling may have provided his technical expertise to Battelle Memorial Institute in the study of Roswell-like memory metal in the years after the crash!

Emerging research reveals that Pauling was intensely studying UFOs and that he had a special relationship with Battelle- a research and development contractor known to have been active in UFO study through its work with the USAF’s Project Blue Book. Battelle has also been implicated in the study of the Roswell UFO crash debris "memory metal." Battelle’s involvement in the debris analysis has been previously reported in articles by this author archived on the UFO Iconoclasts website. It is now known that Pauling was invited by Clyde Williams, the Director of Battelle at the time of the Roswell crash, to discuss "intermetallics" - a class of materials which are the basis for "shape memory" alloys!

LINUS PAULING’S GENIUS

A truly multi-disciplinary scientist, Pauling is distinguished as one of only four individuals to have won multiple Nobel prizes. He is the only scientist to have ever been awarded his prizes without sharing it with another recipient. Named in the list of the "20 Greatest Scientists of All Time" by New Scientist magazine, Pauling held a PhD in Mathematical Physics and Physical Chemistry from Caltech and also held degrees in Chemical Engineering.

Francis Crick, the co-inventor of the DNA model, was a close Pauling associate. Crick acknowledged Dr. Pauling as one of the world’s "greatest minds" and to be "The Father of Molecular Biology." Crick was also the architect of the theory of "Directed Panspermia" which holds that the "seeds of life" were spread through the Universe through extraterrestrial action. Crick -like his friend Linus Pauling- shared deep interest in intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe.

PAULING’S VITAMIN C DISCOVERY

Pauling is most well-known by the general public for his advocacy of high doses of Vitamin C to help lessen the duration and severity of the common cold. Today millions consume the vitamin for the prevention and treatment of colds and in the improvement of health.

Pauling personally consumed 3 grams of Vitamin C every day of his adult life. He died in 1994 at the age of 93. Pauling believed that an adjunctive cancer therapy could be found in mega-doses of Vitamin C delivered by IV. In 2007, the National Academy of Science in its journal Proceedings vindicated Pauling. The journal reported that cancer survival rates were subtantially improved with IV-delivered Vitamin C. Phase I Clinical Trials are expected to begin shortly.

FROM WAR SCIENTIST TO PEACNIK

Holding Top Secret clearance during WW II, Pauling advanced military research and development in ways that are only now being discovered. When WW II began, Dr. Pauling offered the U.S. Government the use of his laboratory and services as an R&D consultant. He devised many inventions for our defense departments including life-safety systems, explosives and missile propellants.

However Pauling -with his belief in ET clearly established, as shown in the next section of this article- then abruptly eschewed his military R&D work in favor of becoming a vocal peace advocate. He championed nuclear disarmament and was an opposer of the militarization of outer space. Pauling was quoted, "It is my opinion that the militarization of space is sheer folly." Pauling was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1963.

PAULING’S CONFIDENTIAL UFO STUDIES

Pauling’s lifelong dedication to scientific discovery included the intense study of the flying saucer phenomena and of extraterrestrial intelligence. He believed it to be likely that we have been visited by beings capable of interplanetary travel.

Within documents that were located in the Special Collections library at Oregon State University (where Pauling earned a degree in Chemical Engineering and where his papers are now archived) are found portions of UFO studies by Pauling that he composed in July of 1966. He marks these papers as "CONFIDENTIAL." It is unknown if these were private studies- or if Pauling was conducting his analysis on the phenomena secretly on behalf of an agency or contractor of the U.S. Goverment.

Pauling examines several aspects of UFOs and offers ideas about the phenomena that were advanced many years later by others. He explores "evidence of present-day observers," "a study of historical reports," and a "study of the possibility that extraterrestrial sentient beings have been in contact with the earth over a long period of time." Interestingly, he also alluded to the idea of Panspermia- a concept advanced by his friend, DNA discover Francis Crick, years before Crick did so. Pauling envisions "the extraterrestrial origin of man and some or all of the organisms on earth." Portions of these studies are shown below:

When Pauling died, it was discovered that he had maintained a massive library of UFO books. The archivist at Oregon State University who now stores these volumes characterizes them as "well-worn." They include such titles as Incident at Exeter, The Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects and The Flying Saucer Story.

PAULING, BATTELLE AND THE ROSWELL MEMORY METAL

Leads that were acted on by this author and that were provided by UFO enthusiast Frank Stalter are very revealing. It has been discovered that Pauling was a close friend of Clyde Williams, the Executive Director of Battelle Memorial Institute in the 1940s and 1950s. Williams and Pauling shared a unique research interest in "intermetallics" which are especially complex metal alloys that are associated with "shape memory" or the ability to "morph."

A personal calendar that Pauling maintained throughout his working life is also archived at the Oregon State University library. The January 11, 1951 entry of Pauling’s calendar refers to a letter that was received by Pauling on that date from Battelle’s Executive Director, Clyde Williams. During this precise time period, Williams’ organization was contracted by Wright Patterson Air Force Base to conduct scientific analysis on the UFO phenomenon in support of the Air Force’s Project Grudge (later Project Blue Book.)

Incredibly, Williams (who was Battelle’s Director at the time of the UFO crash at Roswell) indicates in the letter that he wanted to meet with Pauling (whose interest in UFOs was know at that time) because he "would like an opportunity to visit with an old friend." Williams wanted to tap Pauling’s needed expertise about the "principles of determining the structure of intermetallic compounds." Dr. Pauling’s genius apparently extended to exotic metals. Three years after the Battelle letter requesting Pauling’s analysis of intermetallic structures was received, Dr. Pauling would be awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The prize was awarded for his "research into the nature of the chemical bond and its application in the elucidation of complex substances." In fact by the 1950s, Pauling was thought to be the premier materials chemist in the entire world.

Pauling’s expertise in "intermetallics" may have profound implications. Intermetallics constitute a then-novel (and highly unusual) class of materials. They are mostly compounds of metals whose crystal structures are different from those of constituent metals. The best known representatives of intermetallics are the shape memory alloys (SMA’s.) Shape memory metal was reported as a "morphing material" found at the reported UFO crash at Roswell in 1947. The best known of these shape-recovery materials is Nitinol. Nitinol has been historically traced by this author as having its origins in Battelle studies that were contracted by Wright Patterson AFB, where the crash material was reportedly flown to. These studies commenced immediately following the Roswell crash. See archived articles on the UFO Iconoclasts website that detail these findings.

Pauling was at that time one of our nation’s only experts on X-Ray crystallography. He had also developed groundbreaking research in "quantum chemistry" - a branch of theoretical chemistry which straddles the border between chemistry and physics. It is especially useful in determining unknown material and in characterizing the phases of matter. It is clear from the Oregon State University archives of Pauling’s work that Pauling had a prior association with Battelle.

As an "old friend" of its Executive Director, Pauling likely had ties to Battelle extending back to the 1940s. His work in the examination of crystalline structures and chemical technical analysis would have been very valuable in studing intermetallics such as shape recovery metals. Pauling’s strong professional interest in flying saucers makes this an intriguing -and perhaps telling- connection to the UFO debris found at Roswell.

Buried within the pages of Pauling’s personal copy of the 1966 bestseller Flying Saucers:Serious Business (also archived at the Oregon State University library) is a copy of a letter from Pauling to the President of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology that concerns UFO study. This letter was found folded into the section of Frank Edwards’ book that mentions the UFO crash at Roswell and includes the statement, "There are such difficult cases as the rancher near Roswell, New Mexico..."

THE LINUS PAULING LEGACY

Linus Pauling -one of the most brilliant scientists in all history- was accomplished in ways that we may never fully realize. Pauling is most well known for his work in Vitamin C nutrition and improved human health. But perhaps it is his work on UFOs and exotic metals - and his subsequent promotion of global and interplanetary peace- that may well prove to be his greatest legacy.

The Warminster UFO Mystery
By Timothy Green Beckley (Mr. UFO)

A lot of smart assed folk tend to ridicule the hundreds of sightings of UFOs that were common place over the town of Warminster, England way back in the 70s. Many seem to think the whole affair was a hoax and that there were no UFOs.

The UFO was first called "The Thing," and the first sighting was on Christmas Day. A perfectly reliable resident of this town situated within a stones throw of the legendary Stonehenge was on her way to Church when she was tossed to the ground by an incredible force. In addition to the weight of a "thousand pounds" on her chest she was also harassed by the sounds of a swarm of  bumble bees. Except there were no bees.

This was the beginning of a major flap that lasted for years. At the height of the excitement the town was overcome with tourists from all over the world who had arrived on these cosmic shores to have a sighting of UFO experience of there own. Even the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Robert Fripp from King Crimson came to see what they could see.

Rich or poor. Famous or ordinary citizen. Many went away with hat in hand. Not expecting to see anything unusual but because themselves caught up in this magnificent mystery.

I had been invited to speak at the House of Lords UFO group by my good friend the late Earl of Clancarty - otherwise known as Brinsley Le Por Trench - who had written the first ancient astronaut book before Van Daniken put pen to paper. The Sky People was a sizeable seller in the UK and has been reprint in the U.S. over the decades in many editions.

To tighten up a long story, after my presentation to members of the House of Lords I climbed aboard a suburban bound train from the center of London and headed out to Stonehenge to see the world's greatest stone quarry and to visit with the editor of the Warminister Journal.

I had known Arthur Shuttlewood thru correspondence. We had published his first book UFO PROPHECY in the U.S.  Arthur was a charming fellow. Very bright. Very astute. He had started out as a UFO skeptic. The Journal wouldn't touch a UFO story with a ten foot pole. But after filtering through hundreds of sightings reported to his daily and having see the strangest sights in the sky, he became a firm believer that something mighty peculiar was aloft over Warminister.

As we stood atop of Starr Hill around 10 PM if I remember correctly our eyes caught a glimpse of something a wee bit odd in the cloudy sky. There was an object about the size of a lamp post light. But it wasn't a lamp post because it was straight overhead and there wasn't a real lamp post within a quarter mile (maybe more).

We watched the light hang there for maybe ten minutes when Author went to the back of his car. Opened the trunk and took out a rather large torch light. More than an ordinary flash light it certainly was. He said "Let's see what happens when we flash the light at it." Now no one knew Mores Code or any other kind of code (except maybe for SOS, and we certainly didn't feel like we were in any kind of danger), but we did blink the beam on and off several time.
And every time we did the light seemed to respond by knocking about in the sky as if in direct communication. I do believe the object was under intelligent control. It never came down to land nor did anyone come out to shake hands with me. But it was an impressive sighting and it convinced me that Arthur was on the level, and that something truly out of this world was going on in the town of Warminster, U.K.

The sightings died out for the most part, but people still gather there to talk about what must have chilled them to the bone. Sadly Arthur Shuttlewood is not with us any longer, but he must be given credit for putting this quiet little town in the UK countryside on the map.

Warminster UFO Conference Seeks the Truth

Forget ‘little green men from mars’, the Weird ’09 conference in Warminster at the weekend attempted to sort the facts from the folklore for both sceptics and paranormal enthusiasts alike.

The first day of the first UFO event in Warminster of its kind left visitors to the town – albeit only the Earthling kind – with plenty to think about.

A sky watch on Cradle Hill, a well-known centre for paranornal sightings, in Warminster on Saturday followed an impressive schedule of speakers, featuring some of the best-loved and most admired experts within the paranormal field.

Among those speaking at the Athenaeum Centre in High Street was Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator employed by the MOD to research in to some of the most notorious UFO sightings across the country – earning him the title of Britain’s real-life Fox Mulder.

Visitor Mark Doulton, 44, from Southend, said: “There is a good collection of speakers this weekend which makes it a worthwhile visit and Warminster itself has got a good history of UFO sightings.

“We have got to have an open mind with subjects like these but I think that is what makes it so interesting, that it is so unexplained and it is about trying to find the answers.”

Robert Moore visited from Somerset for the conference and has been investigating UFOs across the country since 1980.

He first became interested in the subject after reading numerous books about former Wiltshire Times reporter Arthur Shuttlewood and the furore surrounding the mystery of what was known colloquially as The Warminster Thing, when numerous reports of noises and unexplained objects in the skies brought thousands of enthusiasts flocking to the garrison town in the 1960s and 1970s.

Mr Moore said: “I liked Kevin Goodman as a speaker. I thought it was a very informative speech in the way he presented the background of the Warminster Thing and his perspective on his own experiences.

“This conference is about connecting with people and seeing what they think on the subject.”

Speaker Kevin Goodman returned to share his knowledge and research on Arthur Shuttlewood after many nights spent on Cradle Hill in the 1970s.

As co-organiser of Weird ’09, he also praised the Athenaeum facilities but admitted that the town itself was ‘reticent’ about its UFO past.

He said: “We are really proud of what we have achieved for the first event and we hope to make it a regular thing.

“If there is someone who leaves here and thinks ‘maybe there is something out there’, then we have done our job, although we are not trying to convert people, we are just trying to present all of the arguments.

“The theatre here has been very good and it has worked very well.”

While some argued that UFO sightings are caused by extra-terrestrial life, others highlighted that whatever the cause, the unidentified flying objects are, at their most simplest and concerning level, a potential terrorist opportunity with commercial airline pilots, police officers and radar operators among the many witnesses to UFOs, according to recent Government reports discussed at the two-day conference.

Claire Williams, 26, travelled from Swansea, with friend Sarah Heaton, 26, and both have a life-long interest in the paranormal.

Miss Williams said: “I’m a bit geeky really. I like Star Trek and things like that and I guess everybody has a feeling that we are not the only ones here. There must be something out there in space.

“We know about a lot of the things being discussed here but to hear other people’s experiences is amazing.”

Brad Steiger's New Book: Real Vampires

I am actually stunned with my mouth agape. This book is absolutely astonishing! I thought I knew everything about vampires, but legendary Brad Steiger again delivers some amazing stories in this fabulous book! Let me go over some of the great stuff you will find in this book and believe me there is a lot of great stuff!

The Sons and Daughters of Lillith: Brad researches his material to a tee and delivers information from the apocryphal Book of Enoch and talks about the Watchers, the fallen ones, the Nephilim, etc. Throughout this whole book, there are some gorgeous drawings by Ricardo Pustanio. The artwork is eye-candy to well-researched text. Supernatural Shape-shifters from Parallel Dimensions. Talk of the Jinns! Jinns are not your magic genies, they are your shapeshifters and Brad explains why. You will learn why human blood becomes sacred to the old gods. Ton of information to absorb, get ready my friend!

Mythic Vampires: Learn about Vlad III the Impaler, various legends of vampires. Then let's go overseas to Ghana and let's all read about vampires from Ghana. We will learn to fear the Asasabonsam, vampiric entities that lure innocent people into the forest, only to drink their blood! Reading this book, I have all my lights on. Brad knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their seats!

A Gallery of Classic Vampires: Ahh..a whole slew of notables. Let's see, we have Elizabeth Bathory - Countess of Blood, Vincent Verzini. Vincent was a nasty vampire and he was REAL!! He would grab his female victim by the throat, bite into her throat and drink blood from the wound! I am not going to mention all of the vampires that you will find in this section, but you will get vampires like Fritz Haarmann, the Hanover Vampire; Albert Fish; the Immortal Count de Saint-Germaine and a whole lot more!!

Vampires and Werewolves: Can you believe this? 10,000 years ago, cave dwellers were etching werewolves on their cave walls! In this section you will learn about the Leopard Men and Brad will take you down the road where cult members practice the Santeria.
You will read a very scary story in this section, a story about a former prostitute turned into blood goddess, her name is Magdalena Solis!

The Demon-riddled Hysteria of the Middle Ages: Yikes! Get ready for the Inquisition! Find out the torture methods, the prosecution of many innocents and the true evil of the Inquisition!

What I did is give you tidbits of what you will have in store for this incredible book. You will want to read this book over and over again. Other sections of this book have titles like: Satanic Sacrifice; Chupacabras: A Bizarre Vampiric Monster; Vampiric and Cannibalistic Murderers; Real Vampires Enter the Contemporary Era; Clinical Vampirism; The Vampire Community; Paranormal Researchers Meet the Vampires of San Francisco; The Vampire Ghost of Guadalajara; Ghosts that Bite; Vampire Gangs; Be Cautious if you Boast you are a Vampire; Killing a Vampire in the Twenty-first Century; Bizarre Strangers in the Night; The Mysterious Lady in Black; A Vampiric Demon Conjured by the Occult Stole his Wife; Haunted by the Dybbuk; The Secondhand Sofa Came with the Spirit of a Vampire; Vampires from UFOs; Black Eyed Beings; The Shadow People; Multidimensional Mimics; Vampires: A Chronology.

So, you now have a concept what you will find in this book. I haven't finished this book yet and when I do finish it, I will read it over and over again. There is information about vampire biker gangs. I never knew there were vampire biker gangs. In this book you will meet The Undead - Nosferatu Motorcycle Club! There is tantalizing information about Richard Trenton Chase aka the Vampire of Sacramento. You will learn about some strange vampire type of creatures that are associated with UFOs! There is a chilling story about a woman that would wear all black and she followed a man we will call Timothy all over Germany. The woman in black had very pale skin. Was she a vampire? You will get creeped out when you read about 'biting' ghosts. If you think biting ghosts are scary, when you get to the section about black-eyed boys, the chills will rip up and down your spine! These black eyed children and adults ask to go into your home. They are very direct and forceful. When normal people are around black eyed beings, they feel fear and evil. Who are these black eyed boys and why do they only go out at night and why do they ask permission to walk into your home just like Hollywood vampires do?

How odd that I find a story about black eyed beings in this book, when just today (August 29, 2009, Saturday) I went with Shannon 'Ms. Macabre' McCabe to the famous Ryde Hotel that was the inspiration for the Eagles' song Hotel California and then later we went to Tony's Place - 14157 Market Street in Walnut Grove and talked with Dave Sutch www.mycarguy-sf.com (a regular of Tony's Place) and Patty Fonbeuna - bartender of Tony' Place. Patty who has lived in Walnut Grove for 24 years, tells me that at Tony' Place she has heard pots and pans rattling on their own. These pots and pans hang from hooks in the kitchen. An employee named Terri ran out screaming after she heard a ghost call out her name. Could these ghosts be the ghosts that were seen one day near the Sacramento River? We talked with Kelly Truanne at the Ryde Hotel and she said that her uncle was fishing at the Sacramento River near Tony's Place and 2 teenagers with dark black eyes approached the campsite. The 2 teenage boys asked if they could sit down with the fishermen. The fishermen felt a sense of evil and said that they did not want to be bothered and this was a private fishing area just for them. As the fishermen watched the black eyed teenage boys walk away, they actually faded into a misty substance. Most people do not believe black eyed people are ghosts, but in this case, they may have been ghosts.

My final assessment of this book:
Brad Steiger is not only a legend, but a sheer genius as he compiles informative and highly researched material that enlightens the reader about the vampire universe. Real Vampires is thought-provoking, intriguing and prevalent in putting all of the vampire pieces of the puzzle together! A true tour-de-force with solid ramifications that lead only to one thing. A standing ovation!! Bravo!

SPECIAL NOTE: Conspiracy Journal Editor Tim Swartz contributed to Brad's book, so we highly recommend that you go right out and get your copy today!

Have You Ever Met Your Look Alike?

There is a very strange phenomena that occurs to people once in a while that most might write off as a just a “weird experience” but when looked at closer, weird may not be the word.

One morning my best friend Jason Korbus was on his way to school when he stopped off in front of a carry out. At the same exact time he saw what appeared the be his mother pulling up in her car. Thinking he could possibly catch a ride from his mother, he noticed something was a tad bit strange. For some reason she would not make any eye contact with him nor acknowledge his presence. He examined the car and it seemed to be the family car, and he watched his “mother” again which seemed to match her description 100%. Jason recalls trying to communicate with his mother at one point, but she ignored him as she got back into the car. After he returned home from school, Jason approached his mother and asked her about earlier that morning, but Jason’s mother assured him she had not been to the carry out at all that day.

That is usually how these stories occur, people noticing exact doubles of loved ones, themselves or family members. A lot of times things happen as they did in Jason’s story, people noticing doubles that totally ignore them. But there are stories that go beyond a person noticing a double, what about when that double does interact with you?

Imagine that you are waiting for your significant other to come over for dinner. You get a phone call that your lover is going to be late and 5 minutes after you hang up there is a knock on the door. You open up the door and to your surprise, s/he is standing in the door way. Excited you let him/her in but something is different, nothing to big, but enough to know that something is off.

For instance they may wear their hair different, or the way they dress is inappropriate for the occasion , their dialect is slightly different maybe from an earlier era, facial expressions seem out of sync with their emotions and the eyes seem to reflect a nothingness inside.

After you noticed something just isn’t right, you excuse yourself and go outside for a bit of fresh air. After a couple of deep breaths a car pulls into the driveway and your love steps out. Scared and confused of what’s going on, you can tell this person is the real deal, you tell the story of what is going on. When you go back inside the mimic is nowhere to be found.

What are these things? Well they go by a couple names, most commonly called the Doppelganger or spirit mimic, and it is believed by some that they are a type of inhuman entity that for some reason or another takes the form of an already living person, causing it to be a look a like or double.

But why? Well this question is a bit difficult to answer because the truth is we don’t know. Some believe these entities are trying to have a human like experience, or perhaps they are up to something much more sinister and evil.

In some stories spirit mimics are said to not have shadows and they cast no reflections, it may be an offspring of vampire folklore. They are often considered a bad omen and it is said if one see’s one of these mimics casting a projection of a friend or loved one something evil may be in the works, such as a serious illness or even death of the real person the entity is mimicking.

A British Author by the name of Thurston Hopkins actually referenced what seems to be a doppelganger. In his words “They are creatures who have strayed from some unknown region…They dress like us, pretend they belong to mankind, and profess to keep our laws and code of morals. But in their presence we are aware that they are phantoms and that all their ideas and actions are out of key with the general pitch and tone of normal life.” (Quality Press, 1946)

So what do you all think? Have you ever encountered something of this nature? Something that has such a resemblance of a friend, loved one or possibly yourself, that you know its more then just a coincidence? If you have ever experienced something like this please feel free to email me at Toledo_paranormal@hotmail.com, thanks for reading.

- CELEBRATE THE FLATWOODS MONSTER DEPARTMENT -

UFO Gathering Planned For Sept. 5 at Flatwoods

Under a canopy of blinking stars overlooking a pastoral hillside in the rugged mountains of West Virginia, the vigil is coming.

Aided by a phalanx of amber lights, apparently the preferred hue of those who, many are convinced, live beyond planet Earth but visit here regularly, the watchers are gathering next month in rural Braxton County.

For it was there, more than 50 years ago, that a small hamlet known as Flatwoods gave birth to one of the larger-than-life legends in the annals of Unidentified Flying Objects.

Children engaged in a pick-up game of football suddenly were astonished by the glare of a dazzling light that seemed to scurry up a hillside.

Soon, some adults joined the chase, and when they arrived, the sights, sounds and smell would dog them for the rest of their lives. What they consistently told authorities over the years about that Sept. 12, 1952, evening never changed — a 12-foot, metallic object issuing an offensive odor of sulfur while emitting sounds one witness likened to bacon sizzling in a fry pan.

So just after sunset on Sept. 5, a mere week shy of the 57th anniversary of the birth of the “Flatwoods Monster” chapter in UFO history, watchers from across the nation will take up positions on a farmland adjacent to the actual site where the spectacle appeared.

“We’re going to put some lights up and different stuff,” says prolific author and exhaustive UFO researcher Frank Feschino, the key player in an extravaganza that opens Sept. 3 at the Alban Arts and Conference Center in St. Albans.

This marks the third straight year Feschino and other experts in the UFO field have appeared in the Charleston area.

Feschino says he learned soon after launching some personal research into crop circle rings in Braxton County in the early 1990s that aliens have a keen love affair with the color amber.

This fact was relayed by Colin Andrews, the crop circle expert in England, when the two met through MUFON (the Mutual UFO Network), says the author, and it was in their meeting he learned of the British government’s interest in various types of light and patterns, and how they figured in the UFO controversy.

“Amber lights seem to draw the UFOs in the area of Stonehenge and different parts of England, where those crop circles and patterns were,” says Feschino, a Port Orange, Fla., resident who has devoted much of his life to investigating the “Flatwoods Monster” incident.

“For some unknown reason, the UFOs were showing up over England and attracted to amber-colored lights. God only knows why.”

All during the Sept. 4-6 celebration in Flatwoods, the UFO buffs will be taking hayrides up a hill.

“It’s going to be kind of fun,” says Feschino, who has authored two books on the Braxton County chapter of the UFO saga.

“We’ll see what happens. You never know. Stranger things have happened in those mountains.”

What if aliens do arrive and touch down? Will the watchers invite them to a picnic? Pass out RCs and Moon Pies? Take them to a football game? Introduce them to other elements of earthling culture?

“Take pictures and wave,” Feschino replied.

Hopefully, if there is a close encounter of the third kind, Feschino would have the makings of a blockbuster book to join his others.

Years ago, when he opened his research, ultimately convincing the denizens of Braxton County he was serious and not looking for a venue in which to scorn them, he was challenged to head for the hills and look for himself.

“We did, and in certain parts of the years, we would see these UFOs,” he sad.

Taking the advice of his crop circle investigator-friend, Feschino installed amber lights on his forays.

“Son of a gun, it worked,” he said. “I got photographs of them. I got some video footage. All types of stuff up in those mountains. I’ve been documenting the crop circle rings because no one else had done it in West Virginia.”

Feschino turned over his crop circle findings and learned his contributions had become part of a huge database Andrews maintains on the subject.

“If like circle rings and patterns show up, it’s like a fingerprint process,” the author said.

“And some of them that showed up in West Virginia showed up in England along the coast.”

Joining him at the one-day event in St. Albans will be Alfred Lehmberg, once a combat pilot in the Vietnam War and now a monthly contributor to UFO Digest.

Directed by promoter Larry Bailey, the St. Albans event will include Feschino’s documentary on Flatwoods and a 2002 movie, “The Mothman Prophecies,” a Richard Gere film based on author John Keel’s book about the bizarre appearance of a bird-like creature many witnessed in the Point Pleasant area in 1967.

During the Braxton festival, a number of activities are on the menu, including a parade and Feschino’s documentary.

Feschino initially produced “The Flatwoods Monster” about the phenomenon that has given the community a lasting reputation, and followed that with a more in-depth book, “Shoot Them Down,” in which he described the Braxton incident as a sidelight to a bigger drama being played out on the East Coast — aerial warfare between Air Force pilots and aliens with the military under orders from President Truman to wipe out the invaders.

Feschino isn’t making any promises about a landing next month. Even with amber lights as an enticement, he can’t guarantee a rendezvous with aliens.

“What a story it would be if we really could get them to come in?” he speculated.

“Anyway, it will be a lot of fun. It’s a good educational thing for the kids, too. And it will help the economy of that area.”

Who knows, he added, Flatwoods eventually could become a global magnet for UFO buffs, not unlike that historic town in New Mexico.

“Some day, we might turn the town into a Roswell,” Feschino added.

- TO VENUS AND BEYOND DEPARTMENT -

Japan's Next First Lady Says She Rode Spaceship

Japan's next prime minister might be nicknamed "the alien," but it's his wife who claims to have had a close encounter with another world.

"While my body was asleep, I think my soul rode on a triangular-shaped UFO and went to Venus," Miyuki Hatoyama, the wife of premier-in-waiting Yukio Hatoyama, wrote in a book published last year.

"It was a very beautiful place and it was really green."

Yukio Hatoyama is due to be voted in as premier on Sept. 16 following his party's crushing election victory over the long-ruling Liberal Democratic Party Sunday.

Miyuki, 66, described the extraterrestrial experience, which she said took place some 20 years ago, in a book entitled "Very Strange Things I've Encountered."

When she awoke, Japan's next first lady wrote, she told her now ex-husband that she had just been to Venus. He advised her that it was probably just a dream.

"My current husband has a different way of thinking," she wrote. "He would surely say 'Oh, that's great'."

Yukio Hatoyama, 62, the rich grandson of a former prime minister, was once nicknamed "the alien" for his prominent eyes.

Miyuki, also known for her culinary skills, spent six years acting in the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female musical theater group. She met the U.S.-educated Yukio while living in America.

A strong believer in spiritualism, Hatoyama said in a TV appearance earlier this year she met U.S. actor Tom Cruise — in a previous life.

"I have a dream that I still believe will come true, which is to make a film in Hollywood," she told a TV talk show in May. "The lead actor is Tom Cruise, of course. Why? Because I know he was Japanese in a previous life.

"I was with him then. So he would recognize me when I see him and say 'long time, no see!'" she said, though cautioned the program's young interviewer not to take her seriously.

Cruise starred in the 2003 film "The Last Samurai," which was set in Japan.

"I also eat the sun," Hatoyama said on the program, looking up with her eyes closed, raising her arms high as if she was tearing pieces off an imaginary sun. "Like this, hum, hum, hum. It gives me enormous energy."

She also has had a "Miracle Interview" column in the monthly spiritual magazine "Mu." Her columns were published last year in a book called "Most Bizarre Things I've Encountered," a compilation of interviews with 26 prominent people, including writers, scholars and culinary experts revealing their strange or spiritual experiences.
