AND BY GOD'S DIRECTIVE THEY MUST FULFILL YOUR REQUEST!
For
centuries, man has sought to reach out to God’s servants and messengers
in a real-world, palpable way that leaves no room for spiritual doubt.
In the time of Queen Elizabeth I in England, world famous occultist Dr.
John Dee and his helper, Edward Kelley, developed a system for
contacting angels that came to be called “Enochian Magick.” Dee’s
system has survived the centuries and been passed down to us.
“ANGEL
SPELLS – THE ENOCHIAN OCCULT WORKBOOK OF CHARMS, SEALS, TALISMANS AND
CIPHERS” offers the reader a history lesson on Dee’s method for
contacting angels, including its origins in the Jewish and Christian
mystical traditions. The book includes an exclusive interview with
author Aaron Leitch, who still practices Dee’s methods over 400 years
later.
For those not quite ready to dive into the more complex
aspects of Enochian Angel magick, simpler – but just as effective –
methods are taught here by psychic Maria D’Andrea, who provides
step-by-step instructions to petition specific angels for help with any
problem, large or small. A dozen talismans created my Ms D' Andrea are
provided each corresponding with a different Arch Angel.
And as
a bonus supplement, we have included Bishop Allen Greenfield’s classic
work, “SECRET CIPHER OF THE UFONAUTS,” to assist in contacting angelic
aliens in their own language and to aid in decoding what they have
spoken to us!
This fascinating work includes all the talismans
and symbols and ciphers you need to set up your own angel alter so that
you may proceed with contacting the celestial kingdom in an organized
effort.

- THINGS THAT GO BOOM IN THE NIGHT DEPARTMENT -
Recent Mystery Booms a Global Phenomenon By Micah Hanks
Recently
here at Mysterious Universe, my fellow blogger Paul Seaburn and I have
written about the ongoing reports of “mystery booms” stemming from
different parts of the world, as discussed recently on last week’s MU
podcast. The phenomenon has been most widely reported in the vicinity
of the United Kingdom, as well as the Northeastern United States.
Following
my initial article on the subject (which actually focused solely on the
American reports), I invited the readership to send along any similar
reports they may have, to which there has been a healthy response. What
follows are a number of the more detailed reports provided by our
readers, which describe the strange noises in areas as varied as New
Zealand, Canada, North America, and Europe.
The most recent
report to come to us is from Britain, courtesy of Ross McAlpine, who
shared the following in keeping with theories about a “secret aircraft”
test, initially proposed by the Daily Mail:
“Where I live (Preston) is approximately 25 miles North of Manchester.
British Aerospace, who I believe are the world’s largest defence
contractor, have a huge facility at Warton where they build their
fighter jets (Euro Fighter). I grew up a couple of miles from the
works; my mum worked there and so do many friends. There, they
are building a new plane called Taranis, I used to see it being tested
at night over where I lived, essentially a triangle with a light in
each corner. I’m pretty sure these noises are down to BAE and
their new aircraft. The noises sound much like what I used to
hear when jet testing was occurring over the years.”
The
aircraft mentioned above, the BAE Systems Taranis, is described as a
semi-autonomous UAV built to fly intercontinental missions and attack
both aerial and ground targets. A video showing a test flight of the
Taranis can be seen here. The name is derived from the ancient Celtic
god of thunder, who was worshipped throughout parts of ancient Europe.
New reports also came from the Rhode Island area over the weekend, as indicated in the following report:
“Last night at 1130 pm reports of “an explosion” boom were reported in
the southern part of the state of RI, [around] Kent County, and back in
2012 the same sound was reported in [that area].
For more, see
this news report on the Rhode Island sounds. Elsewhere around the
globe, the sources and descriptions of the sounds were wide and varied,
along with interpretation of them. At The Gralien Report, I recently
featured a comprehensive report on the phenomenon, which detailed a
number of theories and analysis of the noises in different localities.
Below is a listing of numerous different reports to have come in since
the phenomenon began only weeks ago. At present, no definitive
conclusion as to their source has been determined:
“I live in Miamisburg, OH and just heard the loud boom that sounded
like a bomb went off. My house shook and the windows rattled.” –Kathy,
Miamisburg OH.
“I came across your article
whilst looking into unexplained loud explosions. I live in Manchester,
United Kingdom and on the 24th November at 22:25 there was a loud
single explosion sound. This was heard 20 miles away and windows
rattled etc. There is no reason for this, no fires or signs of an
explosion. There were no bright flashes.” –Scott, Manchester UK
“I live in Tenaha, Texas. We’ve had a few earthquakes the last couple
of years. I’m pretty sure it’s from fraking. I only mention this
because what I heard Monday evening (nov 24) was not coming from the
earth. But it was… There was a constant hum and then a strange
combination of a crack and a boom. The boom occurred every few minutes
and it went on for almost an hour. My neighbors at two other houses
were out listening too. I heard them talking and when the noise stopped
they went back in. I’ve only lived here a few months so I don’t know
anyone well enough to ask what they heard or think it was. We really
love our privacy out here so I don’t want to get too many eyebrows
raised but I thought I should share it nonetheless. I hear a hum most
nights too, penetrating but I’m not real familiar where the highway is
in relation to me or what industries are nearby. It felt unnatural.”
James, Tenaha TX
“Hello, this may be of no
use to you at all but sometime last year, a series of booms were
reported in the Lauderdale/ Colbert county areas of North/West Alabama.
I personally didn’t experience anything but it was reported on local
news outlets throughout it’s duration (nearly a week). Ultimately, they
decided it was the disposal of ammunition that had exceeded it’s shelf
life but several people have noted that that doesn’t add up because
people nearest the disposal site reported nothing. Anyway, may be a
complete waste of your time but thought I’d make mention.” –Trent,
Alabama
“Out here in the San Joaquin valley
where I’m from! We get hail at certain times of the year and the stone
fruits along with raisin vines have new developing growth…they have
hail cannons that sound like, well, cannons of all things. These turn
the hail into slush so no harm is done! The further away you are of
course the booms aren’t as loud. Hope this give some insight!” –Schell,
CA
“Lots of booms being reported between (At
least), Everett and Mount Vernon, WA. Reports of strange lights in the
sky have also been reported.” –Anonymous
“We
had some in new Zealand earlier this year that made the news.
These shook windows over 100ks away. Originally everyone denied
knowledge army didn’t do it, airforce, navy nope then a couple of
days later the army said oh wait that was us testing bombs in the
range. So the media said do it again then and they set of a the biggest
bomb they had. But no sonic booms. Guess it was a fluke. Look up New
Zealand Herald, they covered it. Also the ‘Cambel Live’ TV show.”
–Steven, New Zealand
“I was reading the
article of “Mysterious booms are being reported across America again”
and in my town of Richland Center Wisconsin around the end of August
2014, I heard what sounded like a sonic boom or an explosion and I felt
what I call pressure move through my house and it seemed like a feeling
you have when you are around something that exploded. My brother also
heard the noise that lives near by and I have a friend who lives 20
miles from me who heard the exact same sound. We posted on Facebook to
see if anyone knew of what the noise was. No one has ever found out
what caused it to this day. Just wanted to share the information.”
–Todd, Richland Center, Wisconsin
“I work out
in Scottsboro, Alabama area and a couple days after those earthquakes
that hit the Midwest we had something rattle the shop I work in 3
times. Our shop is like 100’x40? big. It’s a steel building that’s
built on a concrete slab. It didn’t necessarily shake the shop where we
felt it. It just rattled things and got out attention bc it was like a
boom that just really caught our attention. It’s just hard to explain.
People who live 30-50 miles away from that area even talked about
something rattling their house but nothing was ever on the news in our
area. Let me know if you get any emails from anyone else in the North
Alabama region.” –Chris, Scottsboro Alabama
“In regards to the sonic booms story, I was hearing something weird
last night that may or may not be related. I’m living in Oshawa,
Ontario, Canada (about 45 minutes east of Toronto and right by Lake
Ontario). There was a really loud, really high pitched sound that would
last for about 4 or 5 seconds and repeat every couple of minutes. I
noticed it at about 11:00pm and when I went to sleep at about 1:30 it
was still going. It was driving me so crazy that I went around my whole
place turning things off, listening, and then unplugging and listening.
It was at a pitch that was just barely within my range of hearing (for
someone who’s 3? old), so I don’t think it was any kind of alarm. It
was the same from every room, which makes me think it wasn’t some kind
of electronic buzzing. Plus, it was actually really hard to ignore it
and get to sleep, even after I put on a podcast. …and I live by train
tracks, I’m not that delicate with sound when it comes to going to
sleep. Anyhow, just thought it was weird, and after I saw the article,
I wonder if it’s something that might be related or being carried over
the lake maybe (it’s about a 10 minute drive away)? –Maria, Oshawa,
Ontario

UFOS, Astral Travel and Visting Other Dimensions By Sean Casteel
When
one ventures beyond what is called the “nuts-and-bolts” approach to
UFOs, beyond the notion that UFOs are simple physical ships occupied by
simple physical aliens, one is forced to confront the mystery anew in
some quite confounding ways. While the more prosaic “nuts-and-bolts”
aspects of the phenomenon admittedly continue to defy concrete
explanation, delving into the paranormal, even occult, overtones of
flying saucers at once opens a metaphysical can of worms that eludes
our understanding to an even greater degree. It is up that
extremely complex “otherworldly” road that publisher Timothy Green
Beckley has fearlessly – some would say “recklessly” – been
determinedly traveling for decades. His company, Inner Light/Global
Communications, has recently released an updated edition of “How To
Travel To Other Dimensions,” a book that explores subjects like astral
body travel and traveling in time from both ancient and modern
perspectives. The book opens with S. Panchadasi’s treatise on
the subject of the astral plane. The “S” stands for “swami,” and
Panchadasi published several books on occult subjects in the early 20th
century. As in most books of its time, the prose is a little more
elegant, a little more assured, than what we are given to read in the
early 21st century. Panchadasi’s contribution in “How To Travel To
Other Dimensions” is well chosen from his body of work because it
offers a kind of primer on the astral plane, its various levels, and
what to expect once you get there. He also writes about the ethics of
occultism and teaches respect for the old occultists down through the
ages. “Like the scientist,” Panchadasi writes, “the true
occultist learns by his own experience, built upon the previous
experience of others. To the advanced occultist, the phenomenon of the
astral plane is just as real – just as readily sensed – as is the
phenomenon of the material plane to those functioning upon it.” We
are told there are seven planes of being. The lowest, where you are
most likely reading this article, is the material plane. The second
plane is known as the Plane of Forces, and the Astral Plane is number
three. The Mental Plane is the fourth level, followed by three higher
planes that cannot be named because they are beyond explanation or
description to even the advanced occultists in the human population of
mere mortals. Each of the seven planes has seven sub-planes, and each
sub-plane has its own seven subdivisions and so on to the seventh
degree of subdivision. If you have trouble visualizing all that,
Panchadasi reassures you that you are not alone. It takes many years of
study, he says, to reach an understanding of what a plane really is. He
also gives a lesson on the origin of the term “astral,” saying it is
“derived from the Greek word meaning ‘related to a star,’ and was
originally used in describing the heavens of the Greeks – the abodes of
their gods. From this sense and usage the term widened in application,
until it was employed to indicate what might be called the ‘ghostland’
of the ancient people. This ghostland was believed to be inhabited by
beings of an ethereal nature, not only disembodied spirits, but also
angelic beings of a higher order.” Sounds like just the kind of
place you’d like to visit, right? And getting there is half the fun,
though Panchadasi feels it is not advisable to provide his readers with
“the technical details attendant upon the process of passing out of the
physical body into the astral body of finer substance” because there is
too much potential for the untrained person to incur “very undesirable
results.” But another writer who frequently appears in books
from Inner Light/Global Communications, Dragonstar, does not share that
sense of caution. In a section called “It’s Not As Difficult As You
Think,” Dragonstar lays out a step-by-step process that begins with
relaxation and breathing exercises to be practiced as one is dropping
off to sleep. One is next instructed to think of one’s physical body as
a heavy, cumbersome piece of clay and to visualize one’s astral body as
bubbles or sunlight. The body is heavy but the soul is weightless. “At
this point,” Dragonstar writes, “many people report being able to ‘see’
the darkened room even though their eyes are closed. It appears to be
bathed in a purple light. If you get this far, try to focus your
attention on the ceiling light fitting. Imagine drawing the light bulb
toward you. As you do this, you may feel yourself floating toward the
ceiling. Try to remain conscious. You will become aware of floating in
your astral self and may even see your sleeping body laid below you on
the bed.” lorelaimoonA good example of how this astral body
travel process may relate to alien abduction is the story abductee
Whitley Strieber tells in “Transformation,” his follow-up to his
bestselling megahit “Communion.” “The thought crossed my mind,”
Strieber writes, “that I would like to try having an out-of-the-body
episode. I began attempting to roll out of my body. An instant later I
saw a strange image as if on a television screen about a foot from my
face. It was the image of the long, gray hand of a Visitor. [The
“Visitors” is Strieber’s term for his alien abductors.] The hand was
extremely long and thin, with four fingers. They had black, claw-like
nails on them. Then I found myself in the air above my body. I was
hanging there, floating effortlessly. I saw my face down below, the
eyes partly opened, the lips parted. I was not asleep. On the contrary,
I felt alert. I was calm and collected and not at all afraid.” Strieber began to explore this new state of being and found that he could go through his bedroom window without opening it. “As
I passed through the glass and screen,” he writes, “I could feel a
slight difference in density, exactly as if I were moving through cool
smoke. Once outside, I could see that the world around me was very much
the same as it had always been.” He re-enters his bedroom and
tries to reconnect to his body, but for some reason he comes loose from
it again. Suddenly he is back in his childhood home in San Antonio and
realizes he can hear his long-deceased father mowing the lawn at the
crack of dawn. Strieber watches his father from his bedroom window. His
father glances up at him and says, “When are you going to come help me?” This frightens Strieber tremendously. He immediately finds himself back in his body and this time clings to it. “I had the feeling I’d touched death just then,” he writes. A moment later he feels normal again and sits up in bed beside his sleeping wife. “There
was no sensation of having been asleep,” he reports, “or of any
discontinuity of consciousness. I did not feel I had just awakened from
a dream. According to the clock, only about ten minutes had passed.” The
brief passage of time Strieber notes in his experience is a phenomenon
Tim R. Swartz also writes about in “How To Travel To Other Dimensions.”
In a chapter called “The Ultimate Mystery: Are UFOs Dimensional
Machines?” Swartz lays out some tantalizing theories. “Using
your mind to influence time-space to the extent that the dimensional
field could be broached,” Swartz begins, “has been the subject of
occult theory for many centuries. However, in this modern age, mind
power has been circumnavigated by science. Is it possible that other
dimensions could be accessed using technology? Have some unusual cases
of UFO/human interaction demonstrated that UFOs may be operating
outside the realm of normal time and space?” ufotime1Swartz next
tells the story of two sisters who encountered a UFO in June 2001 as
they drove home from a day of shopping in Dayton, Ohio. A strange light
in the sky caught their attention. The light grew in intensity and flew
towards the car at incredible speed. It then soared past the car and
hovered over some nearby treetops. They pulled over to the side of the
road to get a better look. The light was so bright that it was
impossible to see any shape behind it, though it was clearly as big as
a house. It was also strangely silent, without the engine noise one
would expect from an airplane or helicopter. Another identical
light swooped down and hovered a short distance away, at which point
the sisters tried to drive away. But the car engine, lights and radio
were all completely dead. The women felt an odd silence descend on the
area and a strange feeling of total isolation, as if they were the only
two people in the world. Not knowing what to do next, they continued
staring at the two lights when, unexpectedly, both objects shot
straight up into the air and disappeared into the night sky. The area
was plunged into darkness and the normal sounds of the night resumed as
if someone had thrown a switch. The car started running again,
seemingly by itself. According to their watches, the strange
events has lasted more than 20 minutes, and they expected to arrive
home late. No one at home seemed to notice their tardiness, however.
That’s when they realized that instead of being after 9:00 p.m., as
their watches indicated, it was only 8:35 p.m. “It was as if the
entire time we spent looking at those lights had never happened,” one
of the sisters said. “But it did happen. Our watches both showed we had
been stuck out there for over 20 minutes, but somehow we gained the
time back with a few minutes to spare. Normally, we would have been
home at around ten to nine, but somehow, despite what happened, we got
there early.” timeUFOSuch distortions in time and space are
among the strangest aspects of some UFO encounters, according to
Swartz, and may be an accidental byproduct of the unknown energy field
that is emitted from the craft when it enters or leaves our atmosphere.
Thus some UFO witnesses may indeed “travel to other dimensions” as part
of the event, either by chance or by design. But there have also
been attempts by human experimenters to cross time and space using
technology. The legendary Commander X discusses the field of radionics
as well as Ocilloclasts, Hieronymous machines, or more simply, black
boxes that employ ancient techniques wrapped with the trappings of
electricity and the machinery of the modern era. Can we someday
diagnose and cure illnesses by tapping into other dimensions now
unknown to us? Commander X brings us up to speed on the history and
state-of-the-art in this fascinating field of research. “How To
Travel To Other Dimensions” makes use of what has become a successful
formula for Inner Light/Global Communications books: combine the works
of several authors, both old and new, and cover a given subject from
several angles as part of a group effort. From the time-tested
ruminations of an early 20th century swami to the technological
adventuring of present day inventors, traveling to other dimensions has
never seemed so inviting – and so entirely within the realm of
possibility. “How To Travel To Other Dimensions” also serves as a text
that the reader can work with to accomplish a variety of personal goals
through various metaphysical means. You might even be able to hop
aboard an outward bound UFO without having to wear a heavy space suit
and pass one of NASA’s rigorous astronaut training courses. - STRANGE CREATURES FROM TIME AND SPACE DEPARTMENT -
Ohio’s Silver Creek Wolfmen By Ken Summers
“I
don’t care of you believe me or not” was the serious, straightforward
introduction I was given to a possible wolfman sighting in the autumn
of 2013. It was at this point that my long-time friend Andrew* told me
of not just one encounter, but two separate encounters with more than
one strange, bipedal creatures out hunting game near Norton, Ohio.
Andrew
normally works night shifts, which means traveling quiet, darkened
roads is an everyday occurrence for him. One cold autumn night in
particular, while traveling down Johnson Road bordering Silver Creek
Metro Park, what he saw was anything but routine. Approximately 50
yards from the intersection with Medina Line Road, he stopped his car
when two deer raced across the road heading south. But what caught his
attention was what they were running from.
“I
would place them somewhere between 6’6? and 7? tall. They chased the
two deer (which were both smaller, by the way) out across the street
and into the woods. They ran [in formation]… one in front, two behind,
kind of next to each other. They were roughly 30-40 yards behind the
deer. They were bipedal, very muscular, and fast. Lightning fast. It
all happened in just a few seconds. I couldn’t describe any features,
unfortunately; I’m assuming it was either a new moon or cloudy because
it was very dark, but they were definitely a dark color… maybe a
chocolate-brown or a black color.”
I pressed him for any more
detail. After all, there have been Bigfoot sightings in Ohio. “They say
that Bigfoot has long arms that swing when it runs, and it runs like a
human. Whatever these were, they weren’t Bigfoot. I can’t describe how
they moved, but they didn’t move like a person.”
Less than a
month later, Andrew was heading home on Johnson Road. As he passed a
moonlit cornfield, something ran in front of his car.
“The fields had full-grown cornstalks, but I don’t know exact heights
only that the cornstalks were taller than me by a head and I’m 6 feet
tall. This time, [my sighting of two creatures] was a quick flash
because there was no open land to it. They basically leapt the road as
they broke the corn and landed about 10-15 feet into the field on the
other side and kept running. This time, the pair that I saw in the
moonlight, the first was black and the second was black with white or
silver on its chest and back…. Since the first three I saw were all a
solid color, that means there must be at least four different
creatures.”
On October 11, 2014, I set out with Andrew and his
wife to see what we could find in the way of evidence that whatever he
saw might still be around. The location of the first sighting is
bordered to the south by Silver Creek Metro Park. On the other side of
the road, there are three or four houses with a large field behind
them. As Andrew pointed out, the creatures passed through the field and
past the houses on the night he saw them, meaning these creatures must
not have much fear of being near human habitation. The second sighting
was on a slight hill between two large fields in a rather remote area.
Not only were both places quite close to each other, they are both in
close proximity to Silver Creek.
We had planned an investigation
of Silver Creek Metro Park, arriving at dusk, but the reservoir lake
and surrounding park was alive with bonfires and hundreds of people
celebrating the second annual Fall Family Outing making any chance of
searching for wolfman-like creatures too difficult. A follow-up trip is
still slated for (hopefully) this winter.
Other witnesses may
exist, but their reluctance to go public is understandable. If you saw
large dark creatures running on two feet, you too might think people
would call you crazy. But there is an earlier account worth mentioning
here which may give more credence to these sightings. In Linda
Godfrey‘s book Real Wolfmen, there’s a 2010 story titled “The
Persistent Chicken Thief” (p. 262-7) about a family put in contact with
Godfrey after several incidents on their farm. Their son Drew was one
witness to a large, dark creature over six feet tall lurking in the
treeline in March:
The lone rooster began to
squawk and the creature let out a fierce growl, then all went silent.
Drew heard what sounded like something jumping back over the fence, and
the rooster squealed as if in pain. At that point, Drew grabbed a gun
and flashlight and ran outside, searching the fence from the front
porch with his light. He saw the rooster but it appeared to have
something dark over its middle. It slowly dawned on Drew that the
“something dark” was the muzzle of a creature with two glaring eyes.
“Whatever it was,” he said, “it seemed to look through me. It turned my
blood cold and I was paralyzed with fear. I’m a hunter… I’m used to
being in the wilderness and encountering bigger animals. Those animals
don’t scare me like this thing did… When I encountered this thing the
first time, I got the feeling that it wanted to hurt me. After
researching something I’ve never believed in, I’m convinced that this
thing is a dogman.”
Loud howls and the sound of something
walking on two legs in the gravel driveway plagued the family for many
months. The family kept a detailed diary of their strange events, but
unfortunately Godfrey has since lost contact with them. While the exact
location of the farm is not known, it is in the vicinity of Norton,
Ohio.
In May 2010, Kristen Miller of Wadsworth reported seeing
“a large cat with a long tail” resembling a mountain lion at dusk in
Silver Creek Metro Park and reported it to park officials. There have
also been reports of black bears in the area, though neither of these
creatures can run on two feet, nor do they come close to being ix to
seven feet tall.
Silver Creek is a tributary for the aptly named
Wolf Creek. Long ago, Timber Wolves were common across Ohio, though as
farming developed among early settlers, these furry canines became less
of an accepted part of the wilderness and more of a nuisance as the
animals hunted and killed many sheep. Thousands of Ohio wolves were
hunted, trapped, and poisoned in an effort to eradicate them from the
area. 1842 marked the final killing of a wolf in Ohio and the end of
the wolf’s presence here. While wolves have been driven from Ohio,
perhaps something far more frightening has replaced them.
The
mystery of the Silver Creek Wolfmen is far from solved. At this time, I
consider my investigation ongoing. Anyone who has witnessed anything
similar or discovered any possible evidence of these creatures can
contact me directly at ken@whofortedmag.com

The Ancient Secrets of Levitation
Great stone
structures and megaliths around the world stand as mysteries to how
they were constructed. Is it possible their builders possessed the
powers of defying gravity?
Did ancient civilizations possess knowledge that has
since been lost to science? Were amazing technologies available to the
ancient Egyptians that enabled them to construct the pyramids -
technologies that have somehow been forgotten?
The ruins of several ancient civilizations - from
Stonehenge to the pyramids - show that they used massive stones to
construct their monuments. A basic question is why? Why use stone
pieces of such enormous size and weight when the same structures could
have been constructed with more easily managed smaller blocks - much
like we use bricks and cinderblocks today?
Could part of the answer be that these ancients had a
method of lifting and moving these massive stones - some weighing
several tons - that made the task as easy and manageable as lifting a
two-pound brick? The ancients, some researchers suggest, may have
mastered the art of levitation, through sonics or some other obscure
method, that allowed them to defy gravity and manipulate massive
objects with ease.
The Egyptian Pyramids
How the great pyramids of Egypt were built has been
the subject of debate for millennia. The fact is, no one really knows
for certain exactly how they were constructed. The current estimates of
mainstream science contends that it took a workforce of 4,000 to 5,000
men 20 years to build the Great Pyramid using ropes, pulleys, ramps,
ingenuity and brute force.
And that very well may have been the case. But there
is an intriguing passage in a history text by the 10th century Arab
historian, Abul Hasan Ali Al-Masudi, known as the Herodotus of the
Arabs. Al-Masudi had traveled much of the known world in his day before
settling in Egypt, and he had written a 30-volume history of the world.
He too was struck by the magnificence of the Egyptian pyramids and
wrote about how their great stone blocks were transported. First, he
said, a "magic papyrus" (paper) was placed under the stone to be moved.
Then the stone was struck with a metal rod that caused the stone to
levitate and move along a path paved with stones and fenced on either
side by metal poles. The stone would travel along the path, wrote
Al-Masudi, for a distance of about 50 meters and then settle to the
ground. The process would then be repeated until the builders had the
stone where they wanted it.
Considering that the pyramids were already thousands
of years old when Al-Masudi wrote this explanation, we have to wonder
where he got his information. Was it part of an oral history that was
passed down from generation to generation in Egypt? The unusual details
of the story raise that possibility. Or was this just a fanciful story
concocted by a talented writer who - like many who marvel at the
pyramids today - concluded that there must have been some extraordinary
magical forces employed to build such a magnificent structure?
If we take the story at face value, what kind of
levitation forces were involved? Did the striking of the rock create
vibrations that resulted in sonic levitation? Or did the layout of
stones and rods create a magnetic levitation? If so, the science
accounting for either scenario is unknown to us today.
Other Astonishing Megaliths
The Egyptian pyramids are not the only ancient
structures constructed of huge blocks of stone. Far from it. Great
temples and monuments around the world contain stone components of
incredible size, yet little is known about their means of construction.
* The Temple of Jupiter at
Baalbek, Lebanon has a foundation that contains the three largest stone
blocks ever used in a man-made structure. Each block is estimated to
weigh as much as 1,000 tons! No super crane in existence today could
lift one, yet they are positioned together with such precision that not
even a needle could fit between them. Nearby is an even bigger stone.
Known as Hajar el Hibla - the Stone of the Pregnant Woman - it lies
abandoned in its quarry, never used. But the giant rectangular block is
the largest piece of stone ever cut by humans, weighing an incredible
1,200 tons. It is estimated that it would require the strength of
16,000 men to even budge it, and represents a formidable challenge to
20th century machines and technology.
* On an isolated plateau at
Tiahuanaco Bolivia, 13,000 feet above sea level, stands an impressive
monument called Puerta del Sol, or Sun Gate. The elaborately carved
gate weighs an estimated 10 tons, and how it arrived at its present
location is a mystery.
* Nan Madol, sometimes called "the
Machu Pichu of the Pacific," is a great ruins on the island of Pohnpei,
capitol of the Federated States of Micronesia. This lost city,
constructed around 200 B.C., is made up of hundreds of stacked stone
logs, each about 18-feet-long and several feet in diameter. The logs,
stacked like cordwood, constitute walls that are 40 feet high and 18
feet thick. Each stone log is estimated to weigh about 2.5 tons. How
they were moved and lifted into position is unknown.
What was the secret these diverse and ancient
cultures possessed to manipulate these great stone blocks? A massive
supply of slave labor straining human muscle and ingenuity to their
limits? Or was there another more mysterious way? It's remarkable that
these cultures leave no record of how these structures were
constructed. However, "in almost every culture where megaliths exist,"
according to 432:Cosmic Key, "a legend also exists that the huge stones
were moved by acoustic means - either by the chanted spells of
magicians, by song, by striking with a magic wand or rod (to produce
acoustic resonance), or by trumpets, gongs, lyres, cymbals or whistles."
Tibetan Secrets of Levitation
In his book The Bridge to Infinity, Bruce Cathie
recounts an amazing story that he says originated in a German magazine.
It tells the story of astonishing feats of levitation accomplished by
priests in a monastery high in the Tibetan Himalayas. Here, in English
translation, are excepts from that German article:
A Swedish doctor, Dr. Jarl...
studied at Oxford. During those times he became friends with a young
Tibetan student. A couple of years later, it was 1939, Dr. Jarl made a
journey to Egypt for the English Scientific Society. There he was seen
by a messenger of his Tibetan friend, and urgently requested to come to
Tibet to treat a high Lama. After Dr. Jarl got the leave he followed
the messenger and arrived after a long journey by plane and Yak
caravans, at the monastery, where the old Lama and his friend who was
now holding a high position were now living.
One day his friend took him to a
place in the neighborhood of the monastery and showed him a sloping
meadow which was surrounded in the north west by high cliffs. In one of
the rock walls, at a height of about 250 metres was a big hole which
looked like the entrance to a cave. In front of this hole there was a
platform on which the monks were building a rock wall. The only access
to this platform was from the top of the cliff and the monks lowered
themselves down with the help of ropes.
In the middle of the meadow. about
250 metres from the cliff, was a polished slab of rock with a bowl like
cavity in the center. The bowl had a diameter of one metre and a depth
of 15 centimeters. A block of stone was maneuvered into this cavity by
Yak oxen. The block was one metre wide and one and one-half metres
long. Then 19 musical instruments were set in an arc of 90 degrees at a
distance of 63 metres from the stone slab. The radius of 63 metres was
measured out accurately. The musical instruments consisted of 13 drums
and six trumpets. (Ragdons).
Behind each instrument was a row
of monks. When the stone was in position the monk behind the small drum
gave a signal to start the concert. The small drum had a very sharp
sound, and could be heard even with the other instruments making a
terrible din. All the monks were singing and chanting a prayer, slowly
increasing the tempo of this unbelievable noise. During the first four
minutes nothing happened, then as the speed of the drumming, and the
noise increased, the big stone block started to rock and sway, and
suddenly it took off into the air with an increasing speed in the
direction of the platform in front of the cave hole 250 metres high.
After three minutes of ascent it landed on the platform.
Continuously they brought new
blocks to the meadow, and the monks using this method, transported 5 to
6 blocks per hour on a parabolic flight track approximately 500 metres
long and 250 metres high. From time to time a stone split, and the
monks moved the split stones away. Quite an unbelievable task. Dr Jarl
knew about the hurling of the stones. Tibetan experts like Linaver,
Spalding and Huc had spoken about it, but they had never seen it. So Dr
Jarl was the first foreigner who had the opportunity to see this
remarkable spectacle. Because he had the opinion in the beginning that
he was the victim of mass-psychosis he made two films of the incident.
The films showed exactly the same things that he had witnessed.
The English Society for which Dr
Jarl was working confiscated the two films and declared them
classified. They will not be released until 1990.
Were the films of this fascinating feat released in
1990? Did they ever even exist? Or is this just another tall tale that
lends more mystery to the land of Shangri-la?
Coral Castle
How unfortunate that these secrets of levitation - if
they ever existed - are lost to antiquity or the remoteness of the
Himalayas. They seem to be forever elusive to modern Western man. Or
are they?
Beginning in 1920, Edward Leedskalnin, a 5-ft. tall,
100-lb. Latvian immigrant, began to build a remarkable structure in
Homestead, Florida. Over a 20-year period, Leedskalnin single-handedly
build a home he originally called "Rock Gate Park," but has since been
named Coral Castle. Working in secret - often at night - Leedskalnin
was somehow able to quarry, fashion, transport and constructed the
impressive edifices and sculptures of his unique home from large blocks
of heavy coral rock.
It’s estimated that 1,000 tons of coral rock were
used in construction of the walls and towers, and an additional 100
tons of it were carved into furniture and art objects:
* An obelisk he raised weighs 28
tons.
* The wall surrounding Coral
Castle stands 8 ft. tall and consists of large blocks each weighing
several tons.
* Large stone crescents are
perched atop 20-ft.-high walls.
* A 9-ton swinging gate that moves
at the touch of a finger guards the eastern wall.
* The largest rock on the property
weighs an estimated 35 tons.
* Some stones are twice the weight
of the largest blocks in the Great Pyramid at Giza.
All this he did alone and without heavy machinery. No
one was ever witness to how Leedskalnin was able to move and lift such
enormous objects, although it is claimed that some spying teenagers saw
him "float coral blocks through the air like hydrogen balloons."
Leedskalnin was highly secretive about his methods,
saying only at one point, "I have discovered the secrets of the
pyramids. I have found out how the Egyptians and the ancient builders
in Peru, Yucatan and Asia, with only primitive tools, raised and set in
place blocks of stone weighing many tons."
If Leedskalnin had indeed rediscovered the ancient
secrets of levitation, he took them with him to his grave.

As
2014 winds down, we revisit Weird, Wicked Weirds for the latest
developments, including a new hunt for a popular medium who may have
been buried alive here in 1882.
A possible government-sponsored quest for a lake monster in Iceland.
And more searching for things that go bump in the night and in the woods.
2015 looks promising already.
Of ghosts, Bigfoots and 'nitwits'
Ten
months ago, Kat McKechnie of Bowdoinham and Michael Merchant of Hampden
finished second on Spike TV's "10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty."
The reality show sent contestants up and down Mount Adams in Washington state to scare up the best evidence of Bigfoot.
They're still a little sore.
"What
you saw on the finale didn't represent everything Mike and I did during
that 36-hour hunt," McKechnie said in an interview with Merchant last
month. "We killed it during those 36 hours. The other team, they forgot
their water. They had a really bad time out there."
An audio
file and interesting thermal footage should have put them over the
edge, she said. They got dinged instead for not working together well.
"Did we Bigfoot better than the other team?" she said. "The answer is we absolutely Bigfooted better than the other team."
"You've gotta remember, though, it's TV, Kat," Merchant said.
Since
then, she's been out looking for ghosts and fundraising for historic
sites in Augusta. And he's resumed the search for Bigfoot and shrugged
off requests from the throngs that now want to traipse out in the Maine
woods with him.
McKechnie and her husband head Maine Ghost Hunters and its TV show, "ZeroLux Paranormal" on Maine channel WPME.
This
fall, they led ghost hunts and raised money for restoration projects at
Old Fort Western, the Colonial Theater and Lithgow Public Library in
Augusta.
"At Fort Western, during one of our hunts, we heard a
horse-drawn carriage, the horse clomping outside the door," she said.
At the decrepit Colonial Theater, "there's a report of a little child
running around in the balcony area. We asked, 'Can you holler out your
name as loud as you can?' A little voice screamed something out. It was
crazy."
Look for more of those fundraising tours once it warms up next year.
Merchant, a biologist, kept up his Bigfoot research and tried to go it alone.
After "10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty" aired, "a whole bunch of people pestered me to go into the woods," he said.
He
toyed with the idea of releasing a GPS location for people to meet him,
"to weed out the nitwits," but he didn't want to cause problems for
game wardens if those people got lost.
"The majority of people
who want to go someplace in the woods to see if there's something going
on, for starters, they're terrified of the forest," Merchant said.
"That's OK; I can deal with that. But the second problem they usually
have once they get in there, they want to turn it into a
hot-dog-grilling, beer-drinking fest.
"You would not believe
some of the people who show up, and they want to carry their Coleman
hammock," he said. "I'm like, 'You're not going to be able to lug that
for 2 miles, you'd be crippled.'"
Merchant's big question for
the other Bigfoot and monster-hunting shows flooding cable this year:
Why aren't there more deer, raccoons and other wildlife in all their
night-vision footage?
"If they're going to go after something
super-duper rare, that should be child's play to sneak up on the known
critters," Merchant said. "I look at these shows and they have no
animals whatsoever. It's a bunch of clowns coming out of a tiny car."
That said, there's a chance we'll see him on TV again. He'll say no more.
Buried alive?
Mary
Howe was a Damariscotta medium with a reputation for slipping into a
trance and snapping back awake with a message from the other side.
Until one day, 132 years ago, when she didn't.
She just lay there. And lay there. And lay there. For 12 days.
That, Sally Lobkowicz said, is when things got really interesting.
Lobkowicz
runs Red Cloak Haunted History Tours, walking tours she leads in seven
towns while carrying a lantern, wearing a red cape and weaving tall
tales with true ones. She helped her husband, Greg Latimer, research
his new book, "Haunted Damariscotta, Ghosts of the Twin Villages and
Beyond." The work got them interested in the longstanding local legend
of Mary Howe and wondering if they could help her — two centuries later.
"A
lot of people traveled from different parts of New England to go to her
seances," Lobkowicz said. "Sometimes her trances were a couple days.
Her brothers took care of her. They often would warm stones in the
fireplace to put in bed with her to keep her body temperature up."
Back in December 1882, by the sixth day of her latest trance, there was gossip around town.
By day 10, alarm.
Her brothers insisted Howe was fine. Nonetheless, the town doctor paid a visit.
"There
was no rigor mortis. There was no lividity, where the blood puddles
down to the bottom of your limbs," Lobkowicz said. "But at the same
time, he couldn't really find a pulse or determine if she was breathing
or not."
On day 12, against her brothers' protests, the doctor declared Howe dead.
"The
local cemetery would not have her because they believed she was alive,"
Lobkowicz said. "Local gravediggers refused to dig her grave for the
same reason."
So the doctor and Lincoln County sheriff did the
deed themselves, burying Howe in an unmarked grave outside town and
telling no one where she lay. They didn't want townspeople digging her
back up.
"We thought, 'This poor lady,'" Lobkowicz said.
"Whether she was alive or dead, she never had a stone; nobody knows
where she is."
She and Latimer plan a different sort of digging this winter, through historic records, to figure it out.
They'll fund-raise for a gravestone once they find her.
"We're hoping by spring to have an answer, but of course, we don't know if we will," Lobkowicz said.
Wide world of monsters
It might be tough for Loren Coleman to pick a highlight of 2014.
Time
Magazine named his International Cryptozoology Museum one of the 10
weirdest museums in the world. The museum won a grant that set in
motion plans for a cryptid conference and peer-reviewed, scientific
International Cryptozoology Journal — and Iceland came knocking.
Coleman
secured federal nonprofit status for the Portland museum in June, which
opened the door to a $10,000 grant from the Efroymson Family Fund
"It just made for a little more stability for the museum," Coleman said.
He
expanded the gift shop and added more display cases and plans to expand
the museum's reach with a journal debuting this spring and a conference
tentatively set for 2016 in Florida.
"It's going to be a real,
formal, academic, peer-reviewed journal," Coleman said. "It'll really
be set up to take scientists' and researchers' papers on
cryptozoological topics with an orientation toward collections, museums
(and) discoveries that have been made in museums. Maybe we'll highlight
the bone of a lake monster that's up in Sweden, for instance. A French
researcher wants to do an article about the giant octopus."
Next spring, Coleman may also be reaching for his passport.
"Apparently,
the government of Iceland is very interested in investigating reports
of a lake monster up there," Coleman said. "A production company has
approached me and they want to fly me to Iceland for a week and go out
with them as they reinvestigate the reports and try to get to the
bottom of it."
It would be for a government-funded documentary.
After seeing footage of the alleged creature, he's a skeptic. Coleman
believes it looks more like garbage bags adrift in the water than
anything else — but he is, of course, open-minded — so bring on the
search for the Lagarfljotsormurinn monster.
"I have to figure out if there's an English nickname before I go over there," he said.

Harry Potter Fans Study Wizardry at Real-Life 'Hogwarts'
These
are not scenes from an unannounced Harry Potter film - these are
devoted fans acting out their favourite scenes from the series at a
very real College of Wizardry in western Poland. The event sees devotees gather at the Hogwarts-like castle of Czocha to immerse themselves in all things Harry Potter. The
English-speaking live-action role play event is inspired by JK
Rowling's popular franchise and was created by role play specialists
Liveform and Rollespilsfabrikken. Participants take on the roles
from the books and films, and dress appropriately as students,
teachers, or other fantasy characters. The first-ever four-day
event sold out in just two days, as 190 people (all at least 18 years
old) from 11 countries gathered to create the mythical world. 'We
got swamped by sign-ups and in two days the event was sold out,' Claus
Raasted of Rollespilsfabrikken told the Telegraph. 'None of us had seen
that coming. 'And here we are now with quite a bit of global interest for something that is in essence just a small, fan-made event.' The cost per player is €280 (or approximately £220) which includes accommodation and meals. Students
choose one of five areas of study: fighting the dark arts as aurors or
curse-breakers, training as a healer, working with magical animals as a
magizoologist, or studying the unspeakables. Role players are
given a school robe and a book - and all students are sorted into one
of five houses: Durentius, Faust, Libussa, Molin, or Sendivogius. The
rules are fairly simple - the majority of participants are students,
and they are expected to behave as they would at any school. There are also a number of staff roles up for grabs - including professors, Hagrid the groundskeeper and janitor Argus Filch. Fans
who take on the roles of professors are expected to lecture,
groundskeepers are responsible for the woods around the castle, and the
janitors run the school. The next sessions are expected to run over two weeks in April and will be open to 180 super-fans. Source: Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2871475/Harry-Potter-fans- study-College-Wizardy-Poland.html
